Hi, so I'm wondering if maybe this thread should be started up again? Especially with the new season approaching. We need to keep the flame alive! Who's with me?
I particularly enjoyed these two's interaction throughout season 8. Ryan, IMO, has become much more loving and protective of Natalia after her hearing problem. I feel like these two were able to connect on a more personal level considering Ryan went through the whole eye/nail ordeal (although, he didn't have permanent repercussions).
I wouldn't mind seeing these two finally getting together as a couple as long as the writers do it tastefully. I would like it as a "Yes, we are together, but it doesn't interfere with the task at hand: solving crimes" kinda thing.

I am on the fence right now b/c I have always been a R/C supporter. But I just want a return of that close friendship now.
I do see the possibilities for a R/N relationship; they are and have been there for each other. I don't want to see it on the epic scale we have seen; but more subtle and normal. Maybe a slow realization of feelings for each other and small glimpses into their relationship; nothing that would interfer with the crime solving or forensic portion of the show; or have everthing revolving around them. But; can we trust those writers to do a good job? We know that Jon and Eva would do justice to the storyline; they are both fantastic.

just noticed this thread and decided to stick in.
for a while been wondering about R/N relationship. while i'm reading fanfics i like romance between them but when i'm watching episodes i prefer pure friendship.
it's so rare on CSIM to have pure friendship and somehow i'm tired of E/C romance stuff.
in fact i'm struck with thought that romance is one of the last resort in any relationship and it's kind of end.
of course it doesn't mean i want show to end, nothing like that. just... ah whatever...
i may want to see R/N romance/love story later, not so soon though.

I adore both Ryan and Natalia. But there's several reasons why I wouldn't want to see them as a couple. For one, I just can't see any romantic chemistry, but that isn't my main reason. Main reason is that I love thier guy/girl friendship - it feels natural & "true to life" - & as of these past few seasons, that type of friendship is really the only one we have left on this show (which is sad & unfortunate) -- I'd just hate to see that go for the sake of creating & forcing another romance. For the record, I can't quite count H/Calleigh, Ryan/Calleigh, or Eric/Natalia, Horatio/Natalia as great male/female friendships...it's either barely there at all (H/C; R/C), or there's history (E/N), or there's more respect & admiration than actual friendship (H/N).
Ryan and Natalia have a good thing going now, they're great friends & I truly feel like they'll continue to look out for one another. It's nice to see that between a man & a woman without it actually "meaning" something, or it forcing us to believe that it means something -- thier friendship now stands out to me in this show (they're like my 'Pheobe & Joey', lol) & I've come to enjoy it so much that I'd miss it terribly if it was gone.
But carry on shipping, lol. I have no issues with it at all. They're wonderful & intriguing characters, and I wish them both happiness...just not with each other or in that "going there" kinda way.

Now that I think about it, I'm a little apprehensive about making them a couple. The E/C relationship is already having an impact on the team as a whole right now. Not saying that I don't like the couple, I actually enjoy seeing some kind of romance on the show to add to the humanity of the characters. Having at least some romance shows the viewers that these are real people (as far as real goes, =) ) and that they aren't just crime machines once a week. But, as much as I really love the idea of R/N, there will always be that possibility of creating a wedge within the group if the team is paired off. Each member is paired off by investigations enough already.
So, in conclusion, I'm on the fence, with my romantic side desperately seeking a couple and my logical side looking more towards the future of the show.

I also like these two as friends. They seem to really care, and look out for each other. Natalia in born to kill when she helped Ryan with the paperwork, and Ryan when he was concerned about Nat's hearing after the explosion. It seemed really natural and genuine on both occasions.
I think I was put off any romantic shenanigans with that awful 'love triangle' back in season 4. I really disliked that. And I dont think the show can stand anymore relationships between team members.
But saying that the two of them have good chemistry together, and if it were written the right way I could see a romance between them. But as it probably wouldnt be handled right, I would rather see their friendship develop and stay platonic.

I think I am going to stick to my guns. Ryan and Natalia would be a good match. Not right away; but when it does happen a slow progression and understated. NO DEATH SCENES, NO ANGST!!!

I can understand the appeal they bring to shippers, I really do. But to be frank the idea just scares the hell out of me. Ryan and Nat are THE 2 characters that TPTB just love to mess with -- they are not perfect angels & the writers tend to let that lead them. It's just that fear, that if these 2 were paired romantically, one of the two would do something bad or questionable to the other...and then there's our drama. Time and time again, that is what I could see built into an R/N romatic storyline. So, as much as adore the 2 & am occasionally fond of the idea in fanfic or a different show, I'm too terrified of what tptb would do to the characters for the mere sake of drama.

I know this negativity isn't what anyone wants to hear in this type of thread, but I think we're all here because we do love Ryan and Natalia both - either individually or paired - so it's hard not to put in my 2 cents where they're concerned, as they are both favorites of mine & their friendship is so sweet.

I, like many here, adore both Ryan and Natalia. They, along with Frank, seem to be the only normal, natural characters left on this show.
That said, I'm not a big fan of any romantic pairing and I not a shipper of any couple.
Because Ryan and Natalia are "normal" they are so much easier to connect with and I think it's natural for those who feel that real connection to wish for a possible romance between the two. Especially those who feel the current nomance on the show is seriously lacking.
I've watched a character that I truly loved completely and utterly destroyed to force a contrived, unnatural pairing that has left us with what I believe will be one of the "mistakes" that will follow CSI Miami into television history.
That is the last thing I want to see happen to Ryan and Natalia. They have a caring, supportive, warm friendship (what the current nomance couple "used" to have). The last thing I want for Ryan and Natalia is to experience the same character destruction we've witnessed in two other characters over the past 4 years.
If developed at the right pace, Ryan and Natalia's relationship could possibly lead to a caring, supportive, warm romance. I also believe that if Eva and Jon were given good scripts to work with, no two actors could do a better, more believable job or acting out a romance.
But again I'm haunted by the horrible mess that was made out of E/C - which continues to haunt the show with no end in sight! This current group of writers can't write ONE decent romance. There is no way they could write two.
So my initial reaction to the thought of a Ryan/Natalia romance is to feel like I need to protect both characters from having that type of disaster forced on them.
Their friendship is just too precious on a show that really doesn't have friendships. I agree with MJ when it comes to the breakdown of friendships on this show. They simply are too rare to risk losing one that is so sweet and positive.

So... with so much more interviews and such coming from these two actors, I'm getting really excited now! The storylines seem extremely interesting and full of Ryan and Natalia. Here's to hoping the hype is continous, =).
