I dunno if this has been mentioned yet since I've been on hiatus for ever but...
I read some where he was 'asked to bulk up.' I haven't gotten this from an official source but it still seems to be widely accepted...Wonder why? Maybe because he actually was going to do his flashback scene in the first episode then it got scrapped last minute? (as you recall he was supposed to be overweight as a teenager). But there's also the possibility that, yes, sick as it is, TPTB are trying to make Eddie look better by having Jon beef up.
I wouldn't think that tptb would do that so Eddie would look better because that would be grounds for a lawsuit I would think. I doubt they'd have him gain weight for one tiny little "flashback" scene either when they could just as easily use baggy clothing, camera angles/tricks and padding. But like I said, I don't think he looks bigger anyway.
There was a casting call for an actor to play teenage Ryan so I don't think he was asked to "bulk up".Why would he be asked that for one episode when he would still be bulked up for episodes after the first.
The second option is a sick one,I wouldn't think TPTB would be that evil, and legally I don't think they could.I also don't know if Jon or any actor for the matter would go along with something like that, no matter how laid back or easy going they are.
I realize that, but think about all the confusion that took place concerning the premier. They might have had Ryan bulk up just in case they couldn't get anyone for his part. It's also not improbable that they'd have an actor bulk up for a role. It's been done millions of times. Not the best thing, but it happens.
Although I guess he has been gaining weight and muscle gradually since season 3, so maybe it's just that.
I dunno,
I sure was glad to see him dressing more casually, though. Damn sick of those suits... And what's with the humor, suddenly? Maybe I've been in a coma for all these years but it seems this season Ryan's making more funny cracks. Not that he wasn't humorous before, but he was more unintentionally so- such as when he was in that crane in Wrecking Crew. Now he seems to be more purposely funny. I quite like it.

Maybe his character is being tweaked a little.
Perhaps Ryan will be more laid back this season.
Originally,TPTB talked to Jon about Ryan having a sense of humor similar to his but that didn't seem to happen.Maybe it was decided to lighten Ryan up a bit.

I think that Jon himself might have felt in S3 when he started that he should bulk up and take better care of himself since he's on a pretty popular tv program seen all around the world, I think he mentioned that in an interview once...
As far as the humor goes, I think the shift in team members made both parties realize that they were not making use of Jon/Ryan's full potential, plus I believe Delko used to crack a lot of jokes, and now that Delko's storylines are so serious they probably thought Jon to be a good person to start where Delko left off?
I hope however, that the jokes Ryan is going to be cracking aren't going to be too far fetched, unfortunately this seems to be the way they are headed. I hope TPTB don't make his character watered down to shine more light on Jessie.
Hey!!! You were talking about Ryan and the ARMS, so I felt like drooling over some pictures, and I spotted this one. There's a lot of info about Ryan on the computer screen, some of which I find... WRONG???
Isn't the other guy in the pictures Jon's...uh...best friend in "My Best Friend is My Penis" episodes?

It would also be very irresponsible to ask someone to put their health at risk just to make another character/actor look better and stand out in a TV show. I can see bulking up for him to play himself in the past (Matt Damon packed on the weight for his lastest movie), but if EC/Jesse can't stand out on his own.... I think Jon just had a GREAT summer and needed to discipline himself again. Besides, IMHO, they would have to make Ryan look like the elephant man to have Jesse out-shine him:lol::guffaw:

The one advantage to being in show business is that these people have access and money to hire the best to help them get back into shape quickly after gaining weight for a role. Yes, not the best thing, but it can be corrected.

That usually happens to men between their twenties and thirties. And it looks good on him:devil:

Admittedly, the suits were a little too formal but the dress shirts, ties and tight jeans were pretty nice:devil:
Did you see the ugly sweater vest and tie he is wearing in 8:04?! I don't want to see him head down that road again

I don't have a problem with them tapping into Jon's sense of humor but I don't want to see him become a buffoon or a hick just to make Jesse look better. Build the character up, don't knock him down.

I don't think we have seen jokes that are too far fetched yet,of course we have only seen 3 episodes so far.
I hope there is no watering down of the character either.I wouldn't know why his character would need watering down with Jesse already being presented as perfect.

There's someone who goes by the name of Jonathan Togo on Twitter now... I don't know if it's really him... and we have to send a request to be able to follow him. It would be cool if it really were him!

It would be great if it were him on twitter. So far I've only seen fans leave a message to Adam to say something to Jonathan, the last one just a few days ago.
If it's him,it new.
Some one here asked Adam to tell Jonathan to get a twitter acct, maybe he.
If you find out more, let us know.
