I see in the last episode review that the reviewer (whom generally I dont seem to share the same opinion as!) wonders if something is going on with Ryan, what with his 'strange' behaviour.
Although I would like a story for him, I doubt that his recent behaviour is actually leading somewhere. And if it was, it would probably be something bad.
Any thoughts?
I don't think the behaviour is leading to anything either ,and if it is,I hope it's nothing bad.I see in the last episode review that the reviewer (whom generally I dont seem to share the same opinion as!) wonders if something is going on with Ryan, what with his 'strange' behaviour.

I don't think there's anything going on with him. There doesn't seem to be any emphasis (on the writers part) put on his comments, meaning his comments don't actually lead to much in the episode, nor do they have any significant backfire on him. The little banter with him & Jesse over who does the dirty work lead to them walking/talking & laughing - imo, that doesn't suggest that the scene was meant to foreshadow any future hostility.I see in the last episode review that the reviewer (whom generally I dont seem to share the same opinion as!) wonders if something is going on with Ryan, what with his 'strange' behaviour.

And with this last comment about the rural residents uneducated, it just seemed to be thrown in, nothing really came from it except for Ryan seeing that indeed the farmer was aware that they needed a warrant. Furthermore, he didn't really have any quick attitude about it, he didn't use any tone that would suggest he truly felt like they were ignorant. Maybe Ryan is just one of those people that rolls with stereotypes until he's proven wrong. All in all, I just didn't see much harm in it, nor do I consider it a big deal - it was just plain stupidity on tptb's part.
Could it be possible though that maybe we're seeing a few residual effects left over from Ryan's traumatic experience in WISC? I mean, it would be bad enough to be kidnapped, beaten, tortured, etc... but I think the worse part for Ryan was basically being forced to lie to his co-workers and having to tamper with the investigation... though he felt he had no other choice because they had Billy. He was worried if he told Horatio (which he would have normally probably have done if it had been a general kidnapper) that the mob would find out and kill Billy. But I think that was the worst part of the situation for him... worrying about Billy and feeling like he wasn't able to tell his colleagues. It was clear to me in the scene with Cal where she asked him about the missing tooth... you could see in his eyes that he desperately wanted to tell her what was really going on, but he felt that he couldn't because he knew that the Russian Mafia could have eyes and ears any and everywhere and he just couldn't take that chance with a little boy's life.
If I were Ryan, I'd never go to another crime scene alone or to question a witness alone, etc. And I'd constantly be checking my tires every time I pulled out of the parking lot at the lab.
Alright then!!!
I feel this has to be said, because I think we're making a whole lot of something out of nothing with regards to this line. And know that I mean no offence to anyone by saying this, because everyone is fully within their right to their own opinion.
It is just a line!!!!
I mean, there are 15 million things that are way worse to say than that (and this is coming from a person who as yet to see the line in context, because I haven't seen the episode yet)! And I think everyone has their knickers in a bunch because it's "stated" that that it is something that Ryan would not have said. But in all honesty, we don't know that. Ryan went though a lot last season, maybe this is his attempt to cope with the ramifcations of WISC. And I don't think it's tptb trying to put a light on their own stereotypes...that's just plain silly! It was a line that they thought would be funny coming out of Ryan and it wasn't. This is not the first time tptb have put a line intended to be humorous and it bombed or said it in a fashion we thought offensive, and it won't be the last.
Let's pick our battles here, it's just a line. Ryan's still here, we still love him...there is nothing going on as far as changes to his character. Can't we all just watch the show and just be happy he's even in the epsiode?
That was again my opinon, I still love this forum and these people...I just think we over anylize things without knowing what was really going though their minds. Let's all just take a breather and relax ok?
I felt the same way .A flag kind of goes up and you know there are some that will have a negative reaction.Honestly,if someone else made the same comment, there would be nothing said. The only reason that the line made me cringe is because I worried about all of the negative things those who do not like the character would say about him (for making that comment). If it wasn't for that, the line probably wouldn't have even phased me.
Anyway, while I do love the trio of Jesse, Ryan and Walter, I do hope that the writers will pair Ryan with others on cases too and not just those two all the time. But the three of them are hilarious together. I wish Walter would called Ryan "Wolfeman" as opposed to "Shorty".

It looks like Ryan will be working with H in a few of the up coming episodes .Being that we have only seen 5 episodes we should expect to see Ryan working with others on the team.
I still maintain though that Ryan should always check his tires before he leaves the parking lot of the lab.
