Paul/Brass: I Got a Coupon #2

Re: Paul/Brass #2

Your're right, the first one probably did have something to do with things back in NJ. It takes quite a bit to get a commendation, I mean, look what it took to get the second one.

It probably was one of your posts where I read about the picture. They must think we wouldn't actually notice something like that...

Re: Paul/Brass #2

Talking of things Brass has been up to - we haven't seen/heard from Ellie since he got shot. I wonder what she's up to?

Re: Paul/Brass #2

It makes a lot of sense that he would have got at least one commendation for nailing all those corrupt cops in Newark.

Changing the subject a little, but still keeping it in Newark, did anyone else think it was strange that Keppler was from Newark also? It's either shortsightedness of the writers or maybe Brass was going to get a storyline out of the Newark connection.

Re: Paul/Brass #2

I think that Keppler is from Trenton not Newark. But I did find it kind of funny that they were both from NJ. Maybe it was just something the writers decided to throw in there to give them something in common. Who knows?

About the Ellie thing, I have been wondering about that too. With the wtiters strike, it seems any arc with this storyline is shot down this season. I love this storyline too.

I could be wrong but I thought Keppler was from Trenton--just outside Philly. However, I had hoped they would play up the New Jersey connection between Brass and Keppler more.

And on a completely different turn, I was reading the transcript for "Hollywood Brass" (a little fic research). One thing that has always bugged me is how everyone has this impression that Doc and Jim are buddies but Doc has mostly always been something of a jerk to Jim. In HB, when Jim calls Doc for help, Doc says something about how he thought Jim was asked to come home. Now how would he know that? Then he says he "hopes she was worth it" and adds that if Jim put his career on the line, he assumes there's a woman involved. Ok, so what business is it of his? Yeah, there was a woman involved but it was Jim's kid and he's already shown that he'll do whatever he has to do to help her out. Even if it means losing his badge.

Re: Paul/Brass #2

Jim recieving his Medal of Valour ;) and he looks so thrilled! maybe when the writers come back they'll feature Ellie again!

SMILE

Re: Paul/Brass #2

Oops, oh yeah, it was Trenton. For some reason I had Newark on my brain. That makes more sense that they didn't have mutual buddies.

I'm with you about the Doc/Jim relationship. I have always felt there's a ton of tension between the two. The episode (the title escapes me) where they lock horns about an exhumation Brass wants but the Doc doesn't because of his reputation spoke volumes about Doc. If I remember right did Jim ask Nick to leave the autopsy room so the gloves could really come off?

Yup, he did, probably because Nick was getting a little peeved at Doc too.

The episode was "Last Laugh" and what impressed me the most about that scene and the one in HB was how calm Brass remained. He gave it back to Doc in HB but in LL, he basically told him to quit thinking about himself and do it for the victim, without ever raising his voice. And of course in the end, Brass was right.

Re: Paul/Brass #2

It's funny that you should bring up Last Laugh, since it was on last night. I was thinking the same thing about the relationship between him and Doc. But he stood up for what he believed in in LL and that is another wonderful attribute he has.

Re: Paul/Brass #2

Much needed bump for PG fans...

Highly recommend checking out "The Local Stigmatic" with Paul and Al Pacino, its my favorite movie now!

Re: Paul/Brass #2

I bought it a few weeks ago and still haven't watched it. Haven't watched "September" either and I've had that one for years. I keep getting distracted by shiny things...

I bought "September" last thursday so it should be arriving tomorrow =]

Re: Paul/Brass #2

Ok, you've guilted me into it. I might just have to watch one of them tomorrow--when I'm not trying to pretend to write.

Glad I could help :D

Re: Paul/Brass #2

I also noticed Sara's look at the almost end of WtG and I agree with the rest of you about how she looked. Who knows, maybe she was caught up in the moment and "squeezed out a couple of tears" (PG's description of his scene at the end of Ellie).

Where did PG comment about his scene at the end of Ellie? I watched the commentaries for that episode but I only remember hearing commentary from the writer and Gary Dourdan
