Ok here's more
The following couple of weeks was spent in similar fashion, sneaking out for late night rendezvous. Yelina felt like a teenager, and everything felt more exciting because of all the secrecy. The late nights began to take its toll and they both thought it good to slow things down. However hard they tried, they couldn’t, they were like an addictive drug for each other.
It was one of those late nights when circumstance forced a change. It was slightly past one in the morning and Horatio had just drove her home. Yelina was tired, but as always never regretted her time with Horatio. She noticed a dark figure moving from the corner of her eye, and when she focused her eyes in the darkness, realized the figure was headed for the back window. Ray Jr’s room. She instinctively reached for her gun, and remembered that she didn’t bring it with her. She turned, Horatio always packed a gun, but unfortunately he had already driven off. She toyed with the idea of calling it in when she realized she recognized the figure. It was Ray Jr.
Furious, Yelina hurried into the house to confront him. She tried the door to her son’s room. It was locked.
“Ray!”
No answer.
"Ray open up!”
Again no answer.
“Raymond, I know you’re still up, open the door!”
She heard Ray behind the door, and it opened slowly. Ray was clad only in a pair of sweat pants.
“Where have you been?” Yelina seethed.
“I was asleep.” Ray tried to sound sleepy.
“Raymond, don’t lie to me, where have you been?” Yelina thought it ironic that she had used that exact same line many times before with the boy’s father.
“I was sleeping in my room, Mom.”
“No, you weren’t” Yelina couldn’t stand that he could lie to her without bating an eyelid. “ I saw you come in the back window. Where have you been?”
Ray rolled his eyes at his mother. “I can do better than that. I’ll tell you where I’ve been, and I can even tell you where you’ve been!”
“What are you talking about?”
“I was out, with my friends.”
Was that cigarette smoke she smelled on him?
“You, were out, sneaking around with Uncle Horatio.”
Yelina was surprised. How did he know?
“That’s right, I know. You have been sneaking out at nights often with Uncle Horatio. Like mother like son huh?”
“This isn’t about me and your uncle, Ray.”
“It isn’t?” Ray’s voice dripped with sarcasm. Yelina grew angrier that he could be so insolent.
“That’s it Ray! You’re not stepping out of this house again, except to school or Grandma’s. I’m keeping a close eye on you.”
“Then I guess it’s no more late night sex with Uncle Horatio for you huh?”
Yelina’s hand moved faster than her brain. It was a knee-jerk reaction; she slapped Ray on the face. She immediately regretted that she hit him. The hurt in her son’s eyes were evident.
“How could you!” Ray screamed.
She thought he was referring to the fact that she hit him.
“How could you do this to Dad! It hasn't been a year since Dad died! And with Uncle Horatio?!”
“This is none of your business Ray.”
“Of course it’s my business! You’re sleeping around with my uncle and you don’t even have the decency to tell me.”
“Ray what I do with your uncle doesn’t affect, hasn’t affected you.”
“How would you know? Dad didn’t mean anything to you? Or to Uncle Horatio?”
This had escalated to a shouting match.
“Ray, don’t you dare!” She was enraged by his accusations.
“I hate you!” Ray yelled and slammed the door in her face.
Yelina wanted to scream. She knew Ray didn’t mean what he said but it had hurt. Not only had she to deal with him lying and sneaking out, she had to deal with explaining about her and Horatio.
Her first thought was to call Horatio. She checked the time. It was two in the morning. She realized that she had grown very dependant on him. Horatio needed his rest. She decided she would try getting some sleep. She would talk to him tomorrow.
