My story is ready to go since kast week Friday :D

I thought it would be a short one this time but my gosh... I was soooooo wrong :lol: I needed to cut it because it was 2500 words long :eek: But now I'm happy I did that because I'm sure it would have been a boring read otherwise.

Kell I'm sure your story is good, like the other ones. I wasn't very confident with my last two stories either but this time I need to say that I really stand fully behind it :D

Can't wait to read all your fics... it'll be nice to have a little distraction in between my learning for exams :)

I am such a bad example! I'm still working on mine! :lol:

What do you guys think about changing the word limit to 2,500? Seems like a lot of us are having our fics come out just over 2,000 and it's getting frustrating to have to trim it down. Maybe 2,500 would be a better limit?

Or would that be too long? I'm sure not all of them would end up that long, but it might make it a bit easier to flesh out some details. Or is it more of a challenge to keep it shorter?

Oooh!! I vote yes! I vote yes!!

Ahem... I mean, that would be a fantastic option, Smokey :D. That way there isn't so much pressure on you to cut this phrase or that, this word or that, etc.

Another option is to grant a 20% margin one way or the other. That option also challenges participants to flesh stories out more in order to meet the word requirement. So your story can be about 2000 words, no less than 1600 and no more than 2400.

Maximum is fine, but I can't do minimum. If there is a minimum, I'd rather it be a small number like say 300 to 500. I think my story in round two was like 300 words or between 3 and 4 hundred. :lol:

Sometimes its just too difficult to make a minimum word count. It's easier to take away words if you have too many than it is to add more if you don't have enough, at least for me.


2500 for max is fine with me though. I just don't want a minimum assigned number. There's no way I'd ever meet that.

I don't mind upping the max to 2500 but I'd rather not have a minimum limit. I probably could have fleshed mine out this round if I had a few more words or even a few sentences.

I don't mind upping the max words either, but I'm not entirely certain I like the idea of a margin for this challenge. My story doesn't meet that margin but I feel that to add or subtract either way would take away from the story and not improve it. That's just in this case though.

Maybe we could set new guidelines at the start of the next challenge? Instead of changing the rules in the middle?

Just my humble opinion. I'll go with whatever everyone agrees.

Well... I like the idea of a word limit of 2500 words... sounds really good to me, since I struggled myself with not getting over the 2000...

But I would like to see that next challenge because I think it wouldn't be good to do it now that half of us have their stories finished already... I mean I needed to cut things out of my story too and now I it's finished and has the 2000... I don't think that it is impossible to cut it down, so it fits and I think it would only be fair if everybody has the same requirements.

A minimum of words isn't a good idea... I mean a story can be good even with not that many words...

I didn't mean we would change the rules for this round. Just maybe in the future if people think upping the word limit is a good idea. And it seems like it might be. :)

It is a good idea to upping the word limit :) We could start with that next round.

That would give longer stories to read for us :D

Ah, what a fantastic Sunday I shall have... I'm really looking forward to the stories :D And next round, even more! Woo hoo!!

Essentially it's just the song and 2k words right? I can do that...
