Where is Asprine! Not hear from her for days. I MISS HER !
Staff gathered in the decorated break room. The Christmas party had started for fifteen minutes. Everybody was talking, laughing, taking a little time-out.
“Where are Mac and Stella?” Adam asked Hawkes.
“They are interviewing the suspect of the Clark case. Here they are.” Hawkes pointed outside.
Danny already stationed by the entrance with a mischievous smile. “What kept you so long, Boss?”
“Sorry we’re late.” Mac and Stella stopped at the entrance.
“Hey, they are under mistletoe!” Lindsay said from somewhere inside the break room.
Mac and Stella looked up. A stick of mistletoe was dangling under a sprinkler
“Yeah, you are standing under mistletoe! Kiss her!” Danny rubbed his hands.
“Danny!” Mac and Stella said at the same time. Stella’s in a whisper and Mac’s in a warning tone. They were embarrassing.
“Come on, Boss.” Danny turned to the crowd behind him. “It’s tradition!”
The others joined in, some of them clapped, some of them whistled.
Mac and Stella looked at each other. Mac bent forward to kiss Stella lightly on the lips. Everybody laughed and clapped.
“Alright, Merry Christmas everyone. Enjoy the party.” Mac calmed them down.
The party carried on till five.
Mac put down his drink and turned to his team. “I have to attend another party.”
“You go to a party alone?” Danny asked.
“I have company.” Mac smiled and took Stella’s hand. She blushed and smiled sweetly.
“I was wondering when you would tell us.” Hawkes said.
“Come on! He need not to TELL us. They already SHOWED us in the past few weeks.” Danny kept teasing them.
“Someday, I would pay you back, Messer.” Stella patted Danny on his cheek.
Mac and Stella waved them goodbye.
----------------------------------------
Stella was nervous. She had celebrated many Christmas with Mac as his friend. But she was his girlfriend this year. She wanted their first Christmas to be perfect. She was wearing a 3/4 length black deep V sweater dress with a rhinestone belt. The dress emphasized her attractive curve and long legs. She was having a final touch to her hair when Mac knocked. She opened the door.
“Hey.” Stella smiled nervously.
“Hey.” Mac got in. He was wearing a black suit. “You are stunning.”
“Thank you. I’m ready. Let me grab my purse.”
“Wait.” Mac pulled her back. He took out a rectangular box from behind and gave it to Stella. “Merry Christmas!”
“Oh, thank you Mac!” She kissed him on the cheek. She turned to her bedroom with the box.
Mac pulled her back again. “Open it.”
“Now?”
“Why not?” Mac put his hands into his trousers pockets.
Stella gave him a suspicious look and opened the box.
“Oh my god!” Stella covered her mouth with her hand. Sitting in the box was a necklace with an open heart pendant of rubies and diamonds.
“You like it?”
“It’s beautiful! Mac, you shouldn’t…” Stella took it out from the box.
“Let me.” Mac took the necklace and put it around Stella’s neck. He caressed her face and jaw line with his knuckle.
“I love you.” Mac looked into her eyes and leaned forward to kiss her. Stella dropped the box and kissed him back. Their kiss was getting hotter and deeper. Finally, Mac pulled back.
“We better go now.” He said breathlessly.
“Cancel it." Stella started to kiss him again.
Mac deepened the kiss. He picked Stella up and carried her to the bedroom.
----------------------------------------
Mac woke up to find Stella sleeping soundly beside him. He smiled and played with her curly hairs. He was happy and satisfied with the choice to move on with her. She was beautiful, smart and cheerful. The most important thing was she understood him, trusted him and always supported him. He was regretting for wasted so much time before he recognized it.
Stella was woken by the motion of Mac kissed her on the forehead. She smiled and kissed him back on the lips. “Hey!”
“Hey.” Mac kept on playing with her hairs.
“What time is it?” Stella glanced at the clock on the nightstand. “Oh, it’s past mid-night. I didn’t give you Christmas gift yet.”
“You did. But I don’t mind to have more.” Mac smiled.
Stella got up to pull out a box from the closet. “Merry Christmas!”
Mac opened the box. It was a Cashmere sweater.
“We’ve missed Christmas dinner. I’ll make some sandwiches.” Stella went to the kitchen.
Their pagers beeped when they were eating.
“Work.” They said at the same time and smiled.
