Later that evening Brad came home with a headache. Walking in the door, Marisol informed him of what happened to her sister. "Listen Brad, where the hell were you, I tried to call, but got no answer at the office". "I was in surgery with a patient". "Oh really, well now you are home you watch the kids, as I'm going to see my sister". "Marisol, you know I have to go back to the office". "Like hell Brad, you will watch the kids, cause I'm leaving". Walking out Marisol slammed the door.



"Dada, where is mama"? "She went to see your Auntie". "Cause she was attacked"? "How do you know that"? "Cause mama cried to Nana, that you never home, and that you are mean all the time, and mama thinks you no love her anymore". "Jesh...how much did you hear Eric"? "Most of it dada, mama is always sad and crying everynight, she always cries to Nana". Brad was begining to feel like an idiot, and a jerk. "Come on Eric, let's get you guys ready to go too grandma's".



When Marisol arrived at her mom's, she asked where Desti was. "She's upstairs love, Mari, are you okay"? "I'll be fine mom, I'm worried about my sister". Heading upstairs Marisol walked in and found Desti sleeping. "Desti...wake up sis, how you feeling"? "Mari, hi, I'm okay". Looking at her sister she started crying. "Oh Desti, look at your face, I'm so sorry this happened". "I know Mari, I'll be fine, don't worry". "I do worry love, you're my sister". Bending over the bed, Marisol held Desti tight.



*Knock,Knock*, "Hi Nana, we come visit". "Hello my baby, how are you"? "Good Nana, dada binging the baby and Bad Jr". The first thing Calleigh thought was that he wanted a sitter. "Brad, why are you here with the kids, Mari told me you were at home". "Listen mom, I've been a real jerk, and I need to make it up to Mari, so I'm begging on bended knee, please watch the kids so I can take her out tonight".
"Tonight...she told me you were planning on going back to the office". "I was going to mom, until Eric told me that Marisol's been crying every night". "Listen Brad, I understand that, but you can't keep doing this to her or your children, you keep telling her you'll quit the extra shifts, and then a week later you are back at it".



Looking at his mother-in-law, he knew she was right. "I know mom, I don't mean to hurt Mari, but we are so swamped at work, and I'm the only one available at this time, until we hire a new PS". "I know that son, but your main priority should be your family". "I know, and I'm truely trying". "Fine, this is your last chance, I'll watch them tonight, but if I find out you've taken on extra cases again I'll never trust you again, understood". "Understood mom, and thanks".

When Marisol came downstairs, Brad told her to get her coat. "Why. what about our children"? "They are staying with mom and dad for the night". "I don't think so, it's not fair to them". "It's okay sweetheart, you go with Brad, the kids and I will be fine". "But mom, you are almost due, and I won't give you added stress". "I'll be fine love, and your dad will be home soon". Still not liking the idea, Marisol gave in. "Fine...but if this is another trick for you to work, I'll never forgive you". "Gee Mari, where have I heard that before", as he winked at Calleigh.



With Marisol and Brad gone, Calleigh prepared supper, while Desti took the kids down to the beach with Batty. "Stay away from the water Eric". "Okay Auntie, I will". With Brad jr sitting beside Desti, she ordered Batty to watch Eric. As Batty walked down beside him, Eric giggled. "Hi Batty, ove ou", he said as she licked his cheek. "Hi sweetheart, how you feeling"? asked Arthur sitting down beside her. "Okay, how were your exams"? "Good I think, just one more to go and I'm done". "Great, we should do something tonight, like a movie at your place". "Sure Desti, mom and dad are coming here tonight so we will have the house to ourselves". "Sounds great, come on Eric, let's go see if nana has supper ready".



When they got back to the house, Calleigh had everything set out, and ready. "Come on guys, go wash your hands for grandma". "K nana, we will, said Brad. While the children washed Calleigh fed the baby. "Hey mom, what time are Auntie and Uncle coming over"? "About six, why love"? "Cause Arthur and I were going to watch a movie at his place". "Uhuh....I'm sure you are, giggled Calleigh, that's fine Desti, have you taken your pill today"? "Of course mom, everyday". "Good girl, then you two have fun tonight, and stay out of trouble". With the kids eating, Horatio walked in. "What's this, we have a house full". "Oh, Mari and Brad went out, and we are watching our grandchildren tonight". Whisepering to Calleigh, "H" said...."Again, I thought we talked about this". "We did handsome, he's trying to make it right, give him another chance".



"So where are we going"? asked Mari. "To a very secluded place, very romantic and enchanted", said Brad. Pulling into the little Inn Mari said...."Where are we"? "At our getaway, you'll love it sweetheart, just you and I until morning". "Are you telling me you bought this Inn for the night". "I am love, I'm going to show you how much I love you, and need you in our life". Not knowing what to say Mari just smiled. "I promise Mari, things are going to change as of tonight". "Are you sure, that's what you said before too". "I know love, please trust in our love". "Brad...I've never doubted our love, just you, for everytime you say it will change it doesn't". "Well this time Mari it will". Kissing her smartly on the mouth they headed inside.

Entering the Inn, the Innkeeper greeted them at the door. "Hello, you must be Swanson's, please come in and I'll show you to your room. As Mari and Brad followed him, Mari noticed the candles shinning from the room, and as they walked in she was in awe. "Oh my....look at this, she said as she cried. In the room there was candles everywhere, with rose petals all over the floor, and in the tub, that was filled with hot water. "Oh Brad, this is lovely, and the scent, everything smells of roses". "I know love, shall we take our bath now". Leaving the room, the Innkeeper closed the door.



"Come here Mari, and allow me to undress you". Walking over Marisol stood infront of Brad as he undressed her, while eyeing her gorgeous body, that glowed gold in the candlelight. "So beautiful Mari, said Brad as he touched her skin with his fingertips. With sighs and purrs, Brad's touch began to burn, and as he reached her soul she cried from the beauty of it all. "This is what you need Mari, this is what we both need, I've missed your touch so much, and I can honestly say I crave you". Mari couldn't get out any words, and as Brad kissed her tenderly, with his tongue stroking hers, they blended again together as one,.



Later that evening, Brad and Mari were soaking in the tub. "Are you happy Mari"? "I'm more than happy Brad, and thank-you for giving us this beautiful gift". "The night is young Mari, and we are far from finished". As they got out of the tub and put on the robes, Mari noticed the beautiful silver dress that was laying across the bed. "Oh Brad, look at this , it's so silky and soft". "Then allow me to dress you now love, and with passion and desire, Brad dressed Mari in the silver dress, with the shoes, and shawl. "Thank-you again Brad, for this wonderful night". "I'm not done yet Mari, and pulling out a box, and opening it Mari seen the diamonds shinning brightly. "Oh Brad, this is to much, she said, as he took out the diamond necklace and placed it on his lovely wife's neck.



"One more surprise love, come with me". Taking his hand, Brad led her to the dinning room that was lit in candles once again, with soft music playing. "May have this dance my Lady"? "Yes you may Sir". Moving across the floor with rhythm to the music Brad dipped his wife, and as her necklace shone in the moonlight Brad kissed her neck. Raising her again, he continued kissing her lips, arm and hand. "Excuse me Sir, dinner is served". "Thank you, come Mari, said Brad as he led her to the table and pulled out her chair. "My Lady, would you allow me to place your napkin in your lap"? asked the Innkeeper. "Please do , and thank-you". "You are most welcome, and enjoy your meal".



After their meal, Brad and Mari went back to room, where they finished making love through the night.

In the morning Brad and Mari picked up their kids, and headed home. When they got into their home the phone rang. "Hello". "Hi Marisol it's Betty is Dr.Swanson there"? With a deep sigh Mari said..."Brad, it's the office". Taking the phone from his wife, he said..."Hi Betty what's the problem"? "Mrs.French needs to see you immediatly, she says the swelling in her face hasn't gone down and she is concerened, also the Hospital needs you for a new burn victim". "I'm sorry Betty, you'll have to let them know I'm not available". "Huh...are you telling me the good doctor is taking the day off"? "I am, and few others to, so let them know". "I will, and enjoy your day". "Thanks Betty".



Hanging up the phone Brad went into the kitchen and wrapped his arms around his wife. "Let me guess, you need to go in to the office today". "Mari, look at me please". Turning to face her husband he said..."Yes they do need me, but I told them no". "You what"? "I told them no, that I was not coming in today". With tears in her eyes Mari said..."Thank-you". "You are welcome love, I told you, things are going to change, trust in that". "I do Brad, I really do". "Dada, what are we going to do today"? "I'm not sure son, what would you like to do"? "Can we go to the park"? "Sure, get ready, and we'll all go". "Yeah, come on Brad, we are going to the park".



Meanwhile, Arthur let Desti sleep while he left for his exam. "Mom, Desti is still sleeping, can you give her this note when she gets up"? "Sure son, said Stella, good luck today". "Thanks mom". When Desti awoke she found a red rose on her pillow, inhaling the scent, she got up, dressed and headed downstairs. "Morning Auntie". "Morning sweetie, Arthur left this for you". Opening the letter it read...."My beautiful Desti, sorry I had to leave in such a hurry this morning, but you were looking to beautiful and peaceful to wake up, so I'll say "I love you, and see you tonight around seven. Love your one and only Arthur". xoxo.



Over at the Caine home, Calleigh awoke with solid pain in her back. "Horatio.....Horatio". "What is it love"? "I think the baby's coming". Now Horatio knew Calleigh had quick births, and their babies hated to wait, so getting up he dressed and rushed her to the car. "How you feeling love"? "Okay, my water hasn't broke yet, so that's a good thing". "It is love, great, said "H" racing through traffic with his siren going. When they arrived they took Calleigh straight up, while "H" filled out the paperwork. "Back again eh Lt.Caine", giggled the nurse. "Yeah, I know, you must love us by now". "Of course we do, you two make the most wonderful babies, and your wife barely makes a peep". Now the Hospital knew the Caine's had never made it to the Hospital. "huh...great joke, at least we made it this time, so you may hear some yelling".

When Horatio joined Calleigh she was in full labor. "Horatio, something is wrong, it don't feel right". "What do you mean love, where's the nurse"? "She's gone to get the OBGYN, oh it hurts so bad". "Okay love, hold on, just hold on", said "H" taking her hand. When the OBGYN came in she took one look at Calleigh's face, and knew something was seriously wrong. "Okay Calleigh, I'm going to have a look, just relax". As the doctor looked, she noticed the cord was wrapped around the baby's neck. "Okay Calleigh, we are going to have to do a C section, the baby is wrapped around your cord". "Nooooo, oh God, please let our child be okay". When the nurses and anesthiologist came in, they preped Calleigh.



"Okay Mrs.Caine, I need you to stay very still, while I insert the needle into your back. Once they had it done, Calleigh laid back down, and tried to breathe normally. "Horatio...she whispered, please tell me it will be alright". bending down to kiss her, he whispered, "I promise Calleigh, the baby and you will be fine". As the doctor cut, Horatio watched, as he seen his son blue and purple. "How's it look handsome, please tell me something". Horatio didn't want to alarm Calleigh, so instead he told her..."it's a boy love, a beautiful boy". "How come he isn't crying"? "Horatio, she screamed, answer me".



While the doctor's worked on reviving the child, another surgeon stitched up Calleigh, as she passed out. "Calleigh...said "H", Calleigh"! "Doctor something is wrong with Calleigh". As they checked her, they inserted a breathing tube, I think she has a blood clot, I'm going to have to ask you to leave". "Like hell, I'm not going anywhere until I know my wife and child are safe". Watching as they now worked on both the mother and child, Horatio cried. "Please God, don't take any more of my family, I beg you, please let us have some happiness".



Five minutes later, Horatio heard his son's first cries. "Thank-you God, now please, give me back my wife". Rushing the baby down to the Neo Unit, they continued to work on Calleigh. "Lt.Caine, we've got your wife stable, but it will be a while before we know if she'll pull through or not, as the clot is very close to her heart, and we are doing our best to break it up". "Thank-you doctor, may I see her"? "In about five minutes, the nurses are cleaning her up, but if you like you can visit your son".



Walking down to the Neo Unit, "H" held his son and asked the nurse if he could take him to see his mother. "Sure Lt. that's fine, I hope your wife pulls through". "Thank you nurse, thank you". When he arrived at Calleigh's room memories came flooding back, as he heard those machines beeping away. "Sweetheart, listen to me, I've brought our son to see you, you need to wake up now, and have a look at him, come on Calleigh, wake up love". Still not getting any response, Horatio placed the baby on Calleigh's right side, took her hands, and wrapped them around their son, and as the baby began to cry, Calleigh opened her eyes, and tightened her grip. "Oh sweetheart, thank God, you're awake, I thought I lost you". With a whispered sigh, she said...."Never handsome, that would never happen".
