2) ok ok, let's separate Mac vs Gary here... yes, Gary (and the name Sinise) is part Italian, but everything about *Mac's* father screams he was 100% Irish, making Mac at least 1/2, and since nothing has been said about his mother (not even her name) we can make what ever assumptions we want about the other half of his ethnicity. However, there is NO question he's at least 1/2 Irish :hugegrin:

Oh, there's no doubting his dad was an Irishman through and through. I'm just saying that there's gotta be a bit of Italian in *Mac* somewhere. I'm also gonna agree that he's at least half, and probably more, Irish. although I could have sworn his dad called his mom Millie in Blacklist.

3) As for the origins of the character and the name, Mac is after either his son or for Boyd McCanna Harris after whom his son is named. 'Taylor'... well the origins of 'Taylor' should be obvious And Gary might modestly claim that at this point he can't remember which were his ideas and which were the producers, but come on.... *Mac* *Taylor* who was a Marine, from Chicago, a Cubs fan as a kid, plays bass, whose wife died in *9/11*.... really? The producers had any ideas beyond the premise of making him head of the crime lab?! :guffaw:

you have an excellent point here haha but we didn't know he played bass until season 2 I.... I have no other real argument.... what did CBS come up with? the 9-11 part maybe? Maybe, because they wanted 9-11 to have a different effect on the show? maybe the straight hair. maybe.

I think that i'm buggered as i'm from the northern part of Ireland but both sides of my family are from the South so what the heck does that make me Northern Irish or plain Irish gawd i kinda hope it's Irish just like Mac but wont hold my breath on that one though

:lol: :lol: :lol: Yeah i agree, sitting ANYWHERE with Mac is good in my book too. Seriously, he ages so well and it's wierd because i think with age he get's more handsome and younger :lol: and he has the most beautiful eyes i'v ever seen on a man because they don't just stay one colour, but then again, he's probably the most handsome man/actor i'v ever seen on tv. I think it's not just his looks, but Mac's personality that attracts me to him. The protecting-the-lab mode, protect his colleges and he is just like the Father on the show. For me, i think he is the best CSI boss and i'm not being biased (really, i'm not :devil. I'm just glad that in the new Season, we get to see 'Human Mac' the guy that show's is emotions. I for one know i might shed a little tear the first epi!

well yeah basically, but southern ireland is properly called the irish republic or eire - northern ireland's proper name is ulster. that's the bit that we bastard british cling onto. but the previous poster is right, ireland (the republic) is categorically not british and any true irishman (or woman) would be extremely offended at the mere suggestion!

not as long as I keep seeing that preview commercial at least once (if not 4 times.... or 35, 40 times like yesterday ) a a day (speaking of which....):lol: :lol: although if you can understand a series of shrieking screams, bouncing, and maniacal giggling, we might be able to get some communication across... which reminds me: (sorry to go off topic a moment) We started our language section in psychology today and I thought of you
