One of the archangels used to joke that the boy and girl were part of a set that couldn't be sold separately, but when you saw the two of them together, you couldn't help but agree.
Morgenstern chuckled. "Always together. Always. But some day…"
The younger angel cut him off with a stern glare. "Don't say that now. They're both still so young."
He ignored the other one as usual. "Well you have eyes, don't you? Too bad you can't see into the future... and quit looking at me like that! It's not like I said something blasphemous."
"No, but you're going to give someone a migraine with all that nonsense." Altair rolled his eyes, ignoring the mock glare Morgenstern was sending his way. "Tell you what, why don't we see who's right. If you turn out to be wrong, you'll have to do my paperwork for a decade."

Completely in agreement I think Stella has been along allt hese years as a surrogate of Samantha. Because he couldn't have a good communication with Sam so he had Stella. And my poor Stella, so alone and in need of a family adopted him as a brother because we know she can't-see-Mac-as-a-brother
Debbie, one thing I love about Mac and Stella is that they are both stubborn and caring, and together those attributes just go so well together. I have not seen this ep yet, but I just watched Forbidden Fruit on Saturday, and it was the same thing! Stella was being stubborn and Mac was being so caring, I love how he said 'as your friend I would love to,' I think also it was so hard for both of them that Mac had to act the boss with Stella, because of how close they are. Mac has never had to do that with Stella before, he's reprimanded her for getting too emotionally involved, but I can't remember him ever having to outright order her not to do something. That look they exchanged after she left showed how much it hurt them both, and Danny seemed worried about it too when he came in after she left.
Definitely FF is one of my fav this season. I don't remember any moment (except in Creatures of the Night) when he played "Boss" on Stella. At some point he knows her well enough to know how out of control she is and how much help she will need with all the Greek coin case.
Both side of their relationship: Love and Friendship will be
developed in 5.24. And probably some fans who are unconvinced about their relationship will be able to understand why she is so important to him and viceversa

Both have made some really bad decisions this season - Mac with Ella, and Stella with Diakos, and while it hurts to watch that, I think it's wonderful that it is shown that they are human. We've all made bad judgement calls, right? I hate those shows where the characters are always right, all the time. I love how flawed and real Mac and Stella are. I was watching a Special Features thingy about Frasier recently, and one of the writers, I think, was saying how with a good sitcom the characters become like extended family to the audience, they become real. I think it is the same with CSI NY, I feel like Mac and Stella and the others are real, and get really caught up in their emotions, I think because they are portrayed in such a real way.
Another paragraph for the Golden frame. Yes, they are humans, they make mistakes, they are not shown as plastic dolls and i have the right to recognize that humanity from them.
And about that writer said, it's something you and me discussed before, did you remember? Characters at some point belong to themselves and to the audience. Once a character is being written OOC it's because writers are going againt its own nature. Mac and Stella are very real to me part for the great writing and part because of the outstanding Melina and Gary's perfomance

I like your idea of Stella being like a surrogate sister to Flack when he couldn't talk to Sam, and she's never had a brother, so Flack is like her bro. They act like bro and sis - always there for each other, but teasing each other too - we saw that in so many eps. And Stella definitely can't see Mac as a brother. I don't have a brother, but I know you're not supposed to look at them the way she looks at him.:devil: She's always checking him out.

I remember that talk, the Frasier thing reminded me of it. I definitely agree a big part of what makes Mac and Stella so real is Gary and Melina's great acting. They have such wonderful chemistry together in real life. They always look great in pics together, they are nearly always holding hands or touching each other (in a friendly way!) and they seem so genuinely happy and relaxed together too. I know from the Top 5 Melina moments that they spend a lot of time together when filming - Melina mentioned that game with the show songs they play when they are up late practicing lines, it's so cute! I wonder if they know each other's families in real life?

The surrogate sister idea poses a dilemma... You see, I'm Fiesta, only to a lesser extent. But my Smacked side kinda agrees with it. I don't know if he "adopted" Stella because he felt he was losing Sam, but their brother-sister relationship is great. However, I don't think he's Stella's big brother, because they look after one another. His kindness and gentleness in "All access" were invaluable, but Stella got to comfort him during "Rush to judgment".
I have the theory that Flack had a crush on her a long time ago but managed to get over it and now he's happy with the great friendship they've developed. Also possible, but unlikelier, is the possibility -yay for redundance!- that they went out together a couple of times before realizing they couldn't be romantically involved and decided to be just friends because they deeply care for each other. But this is just my Smacked side... my Fiesta side is now glaring at me...
Deb, bwahahaha! Her face when she realized who Rose was talking about was priceless. Poor, poor Stell. Mac suddenly goes from not wanting to take his wedding band off to dating other women while she's left to see him move on. I wish at the bar with Rose, he'd realized something was wrong and dropped by Stella's house. In theory she was on a date (Frankie?), but I don't quite believe it. Maybe it was all façade so that Mac didn't see how hurt she was.
I felt so sorry for Stella in What You See is What You See. I'm not sure whether she was in love with Mac yet then or not. I'm not sure when it started for her, there could be a few different eppys where it started. If she was in love with him, or at least attracted to him then, then it must have been really hard for her because as his best friend she wanted him to be happy and move on, but as a woman who was interested in him, she wanted him to move on with her. She never did like other women being around Mac in a personal sense - Rose and Quinn are good examples.
Actually, I think Rose told Stella she was interested in Mac before she asked him out - I think she pointed him out to Stell and then a little later he came over to check on her and she gave him the card. And poor Mac was totally clueless, he was like :wtf:. Poor sweetie, he really didn't know what to do. But who did he talk to before going out with Rose? Stella, of course!
Pleni, perhaps your theory about Stella and Don dating could fit into this, maybe her Mr X in What You See was Don? But I think it's possible they dated once or twice, then decided it wasn't going to work. By s4, Flack seemed to have his eye on Angell.
I just watched an ep of Brothers and Sisters. Two of the characters are called Robert and Kitty. Robert is a Senator, and Kitty works for him. They got involved a while ago. Anyway, in this ep they were arguing about policy, and it was totally hot, and then they closed the office door and had sex. Afterwards, they were saying how their 'heated discussions' were 'brain sex' and that made me think of Mac/Stella - all their fights are 'brain sex'. Now all we need is some office sex....well, that would be kind of a problem in Mac's office, with the glass walls. But I'd love to see them fight, then Mac just steps forward, grabs Stella, kisses her, sweeps his desk and lies her down on it:devil::devil::devil:....and yep, I better stop now as we are going into the gutter and I better get ready for work too.

I've said it a thousand times, but even if Stella is my favorite character and I love her to bits, I used to hate her so much. When I hated her, I thought she was a stuck-up, bossy bitch whose only purpose was becoming Mac's love interest eventually. She got on my nerves and I couldn't understand why she was so bitchy with everyone but let Mac push her away as if she had no pride whatsoever. Much later it hit me: during the first episodes we didn't have the real Stella, what she is now, but a sort of sketch made with vague strokes that barely uplined her personality and personal circumstances.

Now there's She-Nit so again, her heart is broken. But she's tired of being pulled in and pushed away, so she's dating fireman :scream: I hate to say it, but it kind of reminds me a bit of the Grissom/Sara thing. And they ended up happy in the end :adore:

All of this talk about the future is really exciting me, I can't wait to see how things are going to play out between them. I hope that TPTB go down the route we're hoping for... But even if it's just something friendly, like back to the way their relationship used to be, it'll still make me really happy... Although, I don't think that you follow someone all the way to Greece unless you really care about them in a way that's deeper than friendship... But I don't wanna get my hopes about that built up... It's true she changed a lot, but that happens every day with everyone. But unlike you i never felt her inner side changed dramatically to say it wasn't the real Stella the one who is now. She never lost the same convictions that led her to follow her feelings and instincs nowadays. She was showed tough, wild, worried sick for Mac, caring, even a little rebellious. Probably not as glamorous as Melina built Stella now but the same principles that led her then are leading her now...to trouble

Oh, yes! i am totally sure she was in love with him BEFORE Claire dies. But i'm not so sure she realized that. They were friends and they enjoyed their friendship. Later Claire died (and i'm almost convinced Stella never met her)
A proof on Stella's feelings could be the fact when she received that reprimand from the IAB guy (throught Mac) that guy said she had 4 complaints against her in last 2 years. If we know at the beginning only 3 passed from 9/11 we can say she started to be in trouble a year later Claire dissapeared. Probably it's crazy but i do feel it was all because she couldn't help at that time to Mac and she couldn't make him notice her either.
Yes, maybe i am reading too mcuh between lines but it has a little of sense. Probably she didn't know why she was reacting in that way but she started getting in trouble partly because her inability to verbalize her need of him
