Wow! I loved the whole Stella and Mac dynamic this episode!
I mean it's like season 1 all over again, but somehow different in a hmm way. It's so true what a lot of you said. It's like their relationship at this point entered a totally different Smacked era - the shift from friendship to something more. Think Stella felt it too and it somehow surprised her how much she cared about Mac caring so much for Ella (Stella - HAHA it's as if the writers are trying to make her Stella's doppleganger and I still think it's no accident that her name is [St]Ella). Maybe that's why Mac want to help Ella so much? He sees there's some part of Stella in her and hates to see her so vulnerable.
The 'You really care for her'- from the way Stella delivered it-don't you think it's like she's wondering what makes her so special from all the other cases and the fact Mac's eyes shot up in interest towards the way she said it, made it different from a lot of Smacked scenes?
I thought most of the Smacked scenes 'back then' were warm and fuzzy but it felt nothing like this. This was totally different. She said it with connotations that's slightly saddening, entwinded with disappointment. Yet somehow in the mist of it all, intrigued with the idea Mac is more intouch with his human side since Claire, and asks for her advice to keep him focused-
'I just needed to hear it FROM YOU.'-is just awww!!
I seriously can't see Mac saying that to Ella. I think he's there to help her and nothing else. A romantic relationship?! I think Ella just needs someone to rely on and to be cared for and that's exactly what Mac's doing.
The conversation this ep made it seem like Stella felt Mac has the slightest thing for her- 'sounds like more than just a visit' and how Mac was saying she slit her wrist to get his attention and Stella was like 'damned if she didn't get it.' It's almost like Stella was implying something, but everytime Mac would give his reasonable reasons.
I like how Mac mentioned about him not believing in social workers and the emotional traumas enduced after what happened to Ella. It reminds me how Stella said to Mac 'I can't just sit there, and pour my heart out to some social worker' after the events of Frankie. I think it relates to Mac aswell- Claire. So they're both on the same boat.
The final pause of Stella's smile and her turing away from Mac to leave had so much to it! I don't really know how to explain that! A smile like THAT?! Bet the firefighter can't get that from her!
I loved the part where Adam said horny perp. The look Mac and Stella had were great and I missed that part about Smacked - the small looks and the inbetweens. I found it quite a laugh, also when Stella was jumping to conclusions asking Lindsay if she had a point in what she's saying and Mac was like 'Stella?! Be patient!'
The roles were totally reversed. You know what they say when people unintentionally starts to imitate one another.
They actually turned themselves into the other person lol
Think the writers knows hom much we loved the line from Flack 'You guys have been working together for way too long' They sort of rubbed it in this episode and it was Sweeet!
Oh I'm not sure if this was deliberate, but it's interesting how Stella was taling about Flora falling inlove with John Pollack in the case and she hypothesises 'a change of heart?!' and it seems like she was looking at Mac haha
OooOo change of heart from Fireman to Marine
In a lot of ways I think Ella is a good thing. It makes them reflect on their lives and brings out a lot of unresolved/unknow emotions or underlying issues to the surface.
