Re: Sofia Curtis

I have to say, I really didn't know what to make of Sofia when she first came on the show, but now I am a HUGE fan.

There's a theory about why she may come back: there was either a leak or a gossip reported to a newspaper that Sara was going to be outed as a lesbian on the show. If that happens, it would be the next logical choice for her to be attracted to Sofia (attraction to authority figures, such as Grissom, correct?). This, in turn, could cause an entire domino effect of drama if they do indeed become a couple, enough drama to last for the entire season. The current belief is that they will get together (god knows how long all of this will take, but don't hold your breath) and Nick, as a southern boy, may turn out to be homophobic, which may cause a riff between him and Warrick (who is predicted to be accepting and supportive of the couple). Catherine may be jealous that they have "found" each other so easily, even though Sara is anti-social (to a point) and Sofia and she apparently didn't get along very well at the beginning, and still Catherine doesn't have anyone of her own. Grissom may be left wondering how two women who had apparently fallen for him have now fallen for each other.
And of course who could forget that Sara and Sofia hate each other? But that passion between them has to go somewhere...why not a relationship, since it is quite obvious the only woman Grissom is interested in is Lady Heather. And if Sara loves Grissom, and Sofia loves Grissom, and you take out the middle man, where does that leave you?
This, of course, when you read it for the first time, sounds insane and something an erratic fan may dream up. But as I said, it provides enough drama for at least a season of episodes, and would help integrate Sofia more. And it is logical in all senses to continue the drama in CSI.
True, Sara did have a relationship with Hank (remember him?) and was attracted to Grissom, but really. It's not so implausible in the belief that she "swings the other way" as well. And Sofia...well she has admitted to heterosexual acts, but the same goes for her.
I guess we'll all have to wait and see.
Would love to hear your thoughts on this!

Re: Sofia Curtis

Hi sofias_girl welcome to the LV Forum and to this Board. :)

I need to point out 2 things in response to your post:

1. If there is any further intention to discuss relationship issues, then please re-direct the comments to the appropriate "'ship" threads in the Shipper Central forum.

2. It's been decided that sexuality choices etc of the actors shall not be discussed in the LV Forum as it impinges upon their personal space. However, discussions of this same topic involving strictly the CSI characters is fine.

Thank you.

Cheers.

Re: Sofia Curtis

I think that there's too much friction between the two ladies to ever have that happen. I mean sure, it would create a lot of drama, but--the show really isn't about drama between the characters (or so I thought, but it seems like it's turning more and more to a show about drama between the characters).

CBS is kind of like a family corporation too, I don't see them doing anything like that, from what I've seen they like to steer clear of really controversial subjects like that. It is an interesting spin on things though. I'm not saying that Sara and Sophia hate each other--there's just a lot of friction between them, over a lot of different things.

On a separate issue, was there ever any mention in the show about where Sophia got her police training? I mean--she went from being a CSI to a police detective, there's kind of a gap in there as to whether or not she was a cop at all, unless it was mentioned when she first showed up.

Hey, I'd just like to know where I mentioned the actors. I'm pretty sure that I put just the characters in there, but if you found something I put in there accidentally let me know. Thanks!

Hi. Nope you did not refer to any actors. Since you are new to this Forum and presumably (apologies if this presumption is incorrect) unfamiliar with the past hoo-hah that was raised by this particularly sensitive issue, I was merely clarifying that clear cut separation between actor and character is required in order not to have a repeat performance of arguments past.

Thank you.

It was mentioned in "Bodies in Motion" that she was originally a cop and the sherrif pulled her papers and assigned her to CSI against her wishes. But I don't think they've actually mentioned where she was trained. We don't know all that much about her really. It'd be nice if they'd at least drop in a tidbit about what she does on her offtime. (Hmmm....I wonder if she likes rollercoasters... :D)

Re: Sofia Curtis

Welcome Sofias Girl nice of you to join us, but any kind of ship talk is in the next section down.

To add to Barbs post, not much has been told on the show, but the season 5 commentary does state that Sofia started out as a beat cop (I suppose following in her mothers footsteps). Carol M made it clear from her commentary that they wanted this CSI very different from all the others by being in a place where she doesn't want to be. She wanted to be a cop more than a CSI, so her approach to the job is different hence her quote in Formalities concerning the injustice for the dead teenager, "That highly unsatisfying."

Then in Bodies we do hear from Sofia herself that as soon as she qualified for 'badge' I guess Detective status, the Sheriff at the time pulled her into CSI, it was never her choice.

So it would seem from the very get-go that they had plans to switch Sofia from CSI to cop and it wasn’t brought about from fans bitching about too many CSIs on the show.

I do want to add here since some people have been focusing on this in a different thread - that any woman blessed with HIPs will walk a certain way (especially when said hips are wider than the shoulder width), so the arms clear them. Now add a gun to those hips and an attitude that a woman in that line of work has to convey and you will get a ‘swagger.’ I see nothing wrong with it, even if it is exaggerated some since it makes her character much more believable to me. When she was a CSI, she did not walk that way, but I do love the true to life change Louise has made this year to show a tougher side that is needed as a female detective.

Louise Lombard

I for I one have loved LL on screen since first seeing her in "The House of Eliott" in my early teens. I was really excited when I saw that LL joined CSI! I'm not too sure I like how they write Sofia though..... Still hoping for more positivity of this character :)

Hmm--That escapes all logic, if she didn't really want to be a CSI then the Sheriff wouldn't have made her a CSI--maybe he gave her an ultimatum? Something along the lines of "We don't have any detective positions open, but if you really don't want to be a uniform anymore, you can be a CSI, and we'll--send you to university, etc etc etc so you can have the education to do it too."

Still, that seem rather--ech. It would have been great if they would have just brought her to the show as a detective first, she fits the role of detective better than she did the role of cs investigator, don't you think? She does have a more masculine, 'tough' gait to her, even in her appearance. IMO she's plays a detective exceptionally well.

Re: Sofia Curtis

Arturtle told the Yahoo Group about Louise’s interview that ran last Thursday on the show Extra, and here are the highlights…..

The announcer says, “She is CSI sexy detective Sofia Curtis. The blonde beauty is about to make an even bigger splash on the show tonight.” (I think that describes her very nicely)

Louise on becoming a cop this year, “I get to do all the tough chick stuff, which is great.” (She was just giddy when talking about her character and her laugh is contagious)

She talked about last season and only DAYS after she was offered the job, she found out she was pregnant. She says, “They didn’t miss a beat, they said fine, we’ll work around it." She then worked up until two weeks before giving birth.

It was short, but a lovely interview. She seems very down to earth and an extremely happy person. (I just adore that black top she is wearing)

Hey Bev, glad your not just hanging out at the Cath/Gil thread. Let me say here (especially if I have been bad and not left a review yet, damn busy life of mine) LOVE the fact that you are writing Sofia/Brass stories. Please keep them coming because they are great and we need more Sofia Love in the world.

Oh Tazzer Thank You for interview.

Re: Sofia Curtis

I've always been a CSI fan, and even a fan of Louise Lombard. She's a FANTASTIC actress, and when I heard she was joining CSI I was thrilled, but then the character showed up and well... I really kinda hate her. I am not labouring under the delusion that she broke up the team, that was Ecklie. But I really don't like the character, she has always seemed to be a little insensitive, and to be honest, a bit of a bitch. Although in the last ep, I'll admit, it was good of her not to stare at Allison, it was also insensitive of her not to make eye contact or try to talk to her like she was a normal person, which, face it, she was. True, Sofia is not a CSI, and therefore might not know as much as Cath when it comes to genetic abnormalities, but that was NO excuse to treat Allison the way she did. She seemed unwilling to communicate with her beyond a few words here and there.

She made me warm a little to her in ABRTI, but I still don't know if I'll ever be able to really like this character. She showed that she can have a nice side, and that was great.

That interview you posted was so nice!!! I am a huge LL fan, she is so amazing. And the fact that she worked until two weeks before giving birth is remarkable! She is so beautiful, and so talented, and I really hope that TPTB can write Sofia in a way that will help me to like her, because goodness knows I want to. But the way she's been behaving, for now, I just can't. I will certainly come here to rhapsodize about LL and her talents, but I'll try to stay away from Sofia for a little while.
