Re: LIMS #6 Challenge 5: No Layers! ~ Now Up! LIMS #6 Challenge 5: No Layers! So this time I went for a classic 'No Layers' restriction. There are only 3 pics to choose from, which makes it a little harder. The restriction means that you cannot make your icon using ANY layers except the base layer that is your icon pic. You need to find other ways to make it look good. In PS CS2 for example you can use 'Adjustments'. The effect is absolutely the same as if you were using layers, the trick is that you cannot make any corrections afterwards. Caps: Caption #1 Caption #2 Caption #3 Rules: * Choose only 1 picture from the 3 provided. * No layers. * Text and only those brushes that are not applied using a layer, allowed and welcome. * No animations allowed. * Your entry icon has to be 100x100 pixels in size, and in PNG, JPG or GIF format * To submit an entry PM me, Adzix, ONE icon that follows the rules stated above. Please include a link and the icon itself. In the title of your PM put LIMS Challenge 5. * The challenge is anonymous. Do not go and ask people to vote for your icon, it's so not cool. Also, do not post your icon anywhere until after the results of this challenge are posted. * If you would like to use your free pass for this challenge, you MUST send me a PM to say so. Because as I remember all text is a layer... I'm a bit confused... can I apply effects to the text on that text layer (in the blending options)?
Re: LIMS #6 Challenge 5: No Layers! ~ Now Up! i formulated the sentence so that the restriction applies to brushes, not text. text does not change the look of the whole icon, it's an added feature. since in many programs text cannot be added in any other way but as a layer (brushes can be added without layers), i'm allowing it to be created in whatever way. so yes, you can add text as a layer. and yes, you can apply effects to it.
