LIMS #4 - The Ultimate Test of Creativity - Final Results Up

Re: LIMS #4 - The Ultimate Test of Creativity - Signups now

^ i think she meant that we can use brushes as long as we don't say "oh, i used a brush instead of a text layer (which is the only layer allowed) so now i can use some other layer instead". i can be wrong though :p

i got a question. you say we can saturate them etc but normally you do this using adjustment layers (at least on PS). does it mean that only the color/duplicate base layers (in other words fill layers) are not allowed?

Re: LIMS #4 - The Ultimate Test of Creativity - Signups now

in photoshop you can also change the saturation on the base layer without adding an adjustment layer. you just have to go to image --> adjustments --> hue/saturation. that's it. so i'm sure we can do that, right? oh and text layers are allowed...that is great :D

^ oooh, okay. i had no clue, thanks for the tip cathwillows :)

Re: LIMS #4 - The Ultimate Test of Creativity - Signups now

Woohoo! I'm a bit...err, scared, since I've been fooling around with layers a lot lately, but I went without layers for a long time and I liked some of those icons. *prances off to find pictures* Oh, but can we use tiny text? Not as a brush or anything, but actual tiny text?

Re: LIMS #4 - The Ultimate Test of Creativity - Signups now

My question is : how do you know people used layers or not?
I mean,I can use selective colour, color balance,hue/sat,etc...without using layers and I'd also can use layers merge everything and noone could tell the difference.
I'm just confused.

Re: LIMS #4 - The Ultimate Test of Creativity - Signups now

Alright so are we or are we not allowed to use brushes as long as they are on the base layer?
The only place you can use brushes is on your base layer.

To Adzix: I know, I have PS too - is is possible to desaturate without a new layer. But I meant completely desaturate, like to greyscale. Desaturation was just a random example - you can do whatever you want but no layers. Seems I've complicated things now...

Yes you may - text layers are the only - I repeat, only layers you may use.

To Hormiga: You've brought up a good point, and I'm glad you did. You're totally right, I'll admit that there's virtually no way to know. But I should hope that y'all can just work off the honour system - if you follow the rules, it's more fun for everybody involved. :)

Very well spoken! You only betray yourself if you cheat, and these challenges are just for fun, so no need to bluff. :)

Just wanted to say good luck and lots of fun to every participant in this LIMS, aaand I also added our little slowpoke Geni to the list. :D ;)

For example, (*cough* Pay attention, Ann :D) you could use a picture of Jorja Fox as Sara Sidle from CSI:, or Leonard's Wife from Memento, or as herself from random photo shoots, award shows, concerts and whatnot.

OMG I love you Chloe!! This totally evens out the no-layers thing :p I'm searching for pics as we speak! :D

First challenge- Or in my case...the only challenge! (Im not very confident about my icon skills, can you tell?) Good luck everyone! :)

I only asked that because I thought that wasn't a visible thing, just curious, not that I was going to cheat.

Oh, no, I knew that! :D No fear. Thank you for bringing up that point though, it's a good one and well worth addressing. :)

Re: LIMS #4 - The Ultimate Test of Creativity - Signups now

Is text allowed or is it considered a new layer?
