Paula Abdul says she's survived "harder than har times" because she's "a tenacious warrior"/She was honored as "Woman of the year" at the Nevada Ballet Theater's Black 7 White gala at the Wynn resort, the "American Idol" judge told a media gathering that the real story behind her recent bizzare TV interviews is "very boring" She was sufferfing from fatigue from a 3:45 am wake-up call, and 30 interviewers and technical difficulties gave the wrong impression. Her slurred words and odd behavior rasied alot of eyebrows.. Abdul's big night included an annoucement that she plans to take a job with the Silverton as an entertainment executive. Also there to support were fellow judges Simon Cowell and Randy Jackson and Ryan Seacrest everyone was dressed to the nines, except Simon who wore his signature T-shirt and jeans!!

CNN anchor Anderson Cooper and Simon Cowell, shooting footage Sunday at the Mario Andretti racing school at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway....Oscar winner Kevin Spacey, being welcomed at the Aladdin/Planet Hollywood on Sunday by resort honcho Robert Earl. Spacey is in town to start shooting on "21" a movie based on the MIT students who beat Las Vegas Casinos with a card counting scheme....Cowell and Jackson and Seacrest dining at SW Steakhouse (Wynn) after the gala, Cowell with girlfriend Terri Seymore, who was celebrating her birthday!!

Harrah's executive Jan Jones was on the phone Tuesday, clarifying what appeared to be a violation of one of Las Vegas' golden rules, "thou shall not divulge confidential customer information" In a interview with The Observer, one of London's newspapers, JOnes is quoted as saying Celine Dion's husband and manager, Rene Angelil, "probably gambles $1 million a week"
Her remark, she said from Washington D.C. was a misrepresentation. "All I was doing was trying it into what was said by a (pathological gambling) treatment professional" said Jones, senior VP of communications and gov. relations for Harrah's Entertainment, Inc. In that role, she oversees gov. relations, corporate communications and community relations for the company. Jones acknowledges she mentioned Angelil in a interview with a reporter. "But it was not my comment directly, shame on me, I wasn't thinking" The orginal reference to Angelil, she said was made by a Canadian scientist at a forum she attended for treating gamblers!! She added, I've got not idea what he (Angelil) gambles" maybe I'll run into him, and he can give me a bit of that.. LUDICROUS

Spears was at the Palms on Wednesday, working on a new album. Michael Jacjson, shopping at FAO Schwarz, Forum Shops (Caesars Palace) on Tuesday with his children, both in veils, with a security team in tow. Besieged by fans, they entered the Chinois and settled into a VIP room at OPM nightclub for lunch. His children removed their veils during lunch, revealing faces painted like they were celebrating Halloween!! (poor unfortunate kids) they turn out so freaky.. with him as their role model!!

Seems seven members of the cast and crew of a film being shot there, includig two-time Oscar winner Kevin Spacey and several producers, brought their dogs to Las Vegas for their month long fil shoot. The movie, tentatively called "21" is baased on a true story of card-counting MIT students who win millions in Las Vegas. Spacey has been spotted in the Casino, with his mixed mutt Mini. Spacey who portrayed Vegas headliner Bobby Darin in "Beyond The sea" told me he may be checking out Pamplemousse, the classic old Vegas restautant on East Shara, lon owned by darin pal George LaForge, the former maitre d' of the Monte Carlo room on top of the Desert Inn he opened Pamplemousse on June 22, 1976, in honor of Darin, who suggested the name, French for grapefruit. Darin, who died Dec. 20, 1973, is being honored with a star on the Las Vegas Walk of Stars in May, on what would have been his 71st birthday!!

Sammy Davis, The Candy Man got his star on the street he helped make famous LAS VEGAS BLVD. In a emotional tribute that featured an apperance by his widow, Sammy Davis Jr. was honored by the Las Vegas walk of stars during a ceremony at the Riviera's Le Bistro Theater. We learned that davis's star in front of the Riviera soon will be joined by stars for fellow rat Pack icons Frank Sinatra and Dean Martin. Davis' sidow Altovise Davis told the crowd that she'll be forever grateful for having the lights on the strip dimmed on the day of his funeral in 1990. (I was there, working at Macy's, it was eerie) everything went dark for like a minute..spooky, but awesome as well!!

VEGAS, BABY!! NBA's KIND OT TOWN
It's a party of major proportations..the NBA were here!! The All Star Game was one long party, and no one delivers like Vegas. When it comes to hospitality, all the other cities are still shooting a 25-hour, slam-dunk kind of city!!I suspect (and hope) that the NBA will bring the ALL STAR GAME back to Las Vegas soon, we used to limit betting on sporting events in Vegas, then Sen. John McCain and other national leaders busted our chops, sayig we were hypocrites for allowing betting on every college team except UNLV. That criticism made sense, and nevada leaders changed the law to allow betting on UNLV. So every one had fun, regardless of th horrific traffic, and the crowds.. lots of $$$$$ was spent this weekend here.. HIP-HIP- HOORAY for Las Vegas
