I did it with adobe image ready. I fumbled around for a while then i had to look it up..
in the top bar click on help, then help topics and it's creating animations. Then it list a bunch of other topics under that. I just followed those.

I have a question. I just got a new program - Corel PHOTO-PAINT. Does anybody have any tutorials on this program or know where I can find some? Thanks! :D

I no nothing about this stuff, how to make icons...But would like to start in some way. I have noticed that you all seem to use programs like Photoshop or Paint shop pro...What are the big differences between them? How easy or how hard is to start/make an icon? What should be better to start? Notice that I don't have any of these programs, and i'm consigering to buy it, but I don't know what would be the best. Plus there are inumerous versions...
Anyway, has any of you ever made an icon with other simple programs? like using Microsoft Word, Paint...? Thanks in advance! And sorry for my lack of knowledge :p

^^I guess I'm not the best to give advice about this, but you can begin with a program as photofiltre that is easy to use and free. And after you feel comfortable with that program you can download a trial version of photoshop or other program like that and see what you think.

I use PS 7.0 I have found that

A. the coloring is more vibrant
B. there are less steps involved with PS.

I'm starting to learn GIMP I've also found a GIMP brush site.

The Glinted Brush

Okay it also has textures, gradients, tutorials and of course brushes.

Ok, thank you Hormiga and Speedslady for the help. I am going to follow your suggestion and try a free version to get used to the names and stuff. Then I will see what I prefer. Thank you very much for the tips ;)

I'd like to make a request. I'd really like a tutorial on how to use brushes. I've never really bothered to use them, and now that I've decided to try it, I've discovered that I'm really just not sure what to do with them. For instance, mask brushes... how do you get the desired effect?

If someone could do this for me, I'd be really appreciative :D And thanks in advance.

I have made an icon tutorial - for the very first time...
