"House Of Hoarders" Discussion **Spoilers**

That you did, Byline. ; )~

Today I actually spoke with my doc about this whole conversation and episode. The rational mind realizing the irrational issues is actually what really highlights the difference between OCD and associated conditions from delusional disorders.

It's funny that you mention your mother keeping cans of rocks that you and your sister collected. My Dad only managed to get rid of my old rock/stone collection a few years ago without my Mom's knowledge.

The cleaning out after they're gone is certainly not an enjoyable task. My Grandparents, who weren't hoarders, but you wouldn't know it from their basement (my Grandmother ran a business, and when it closed up they moved everything into the basement... plus all the stuff my Mom and her brother had stored there as they grew up and moved on). When my Grandfather sold the house after my Grandmother's death, my uncle had to clear out the basement. It took him a week just to move stuff from the basement to a giant garbage bin.

When my OCD was at it's worst, it actually had a slightly odd/funny impact on me. One of my obsessions is an anxiety around death/dying. So when my OCD was extremely severe (between '04-'06) I discovered one of my triggers was certain TV shows... including CSI. So for a few years I wasn't able to watch CSI because it kept triggering my anxiety attacks. Thankfully that's passed... LOL! Though I still am particular about what water bottle I take at a store, thanks to 'Last Laugh'

Hubby and I are sort of split on this episode. I liked it, but he feels this is the sort of thing that, in years past, "CSI" would have been on the leading edge, rather than following the lead of "Hoarders" (on which I assume this is based).

I noticed this first time around, but it didn't bother me as much as it did him. Last night, he made that observation, and I found myself agreeing with him even though I like the episode. He feels that with things like this and the whole "Return of Nate Haskell" story arc, the show has run its course. I hate to say it, but I find myself feeling the same way.

I watched this again too, and lord have mercy, on that house:(The banter between Sara, Nick and Greg was hilarious. So Sara got miffed off at Nick, & took it out on Ray, and poor Ray so always understanding and sweet and helpful was trying to bring Sara to a better place, his comment "Just take a deep breath, and walk away, as she walked away was primo:thumbsup:So Sara was right it wasn't the mom but the twisted sister Alisia. And Sara sharing her past with the brother, was so awesome. "You took different paths", My place looks like a castle compared to that house. I wonder where the special effect team got all that junk and all those plastic containers, so many:confused:

During that scene with Nick, Ray and Sara I thought I heard a snort or some type of noise that made me think that someone was not being understanding during that conversation. I wasn't looking at the screen, but I thought it was Ray. It was right before Sara left the room. Was I just imagining it, or was there something there? Was that why she left?

Sher left because she was pissed off at Nick they didn't agree on the "who did it" Ray was just an innocent bystander, listening and tried to give her some pearls of wisdom, and let her know he's been there done that, but she got a bee in her bonnet and didn't want to hear anything anybody said, Ray did not "snort"

I heard something like a snort as well... I'd thought it had just been one of my dogs... but since you'd heard it as well... I'm guessing my boys didn't snort loud enough for you to hear...

Not sure WHO snorted though... but someone had.

As Nick left, Sara said "good luck with that Nick." Ray cleared his throat to get her attention again (she turned to him with "What?"). Maybe that was what you heard?

Thanks Otie, I knew I heard something. I just assumed it was Ray because when I looked up she was kinda giving him a death stare and leaving. I certainly didn't want to start a fight, I was just hoping someone else had caught it. I didn't tape the epi and haven't been able to find a clip online.

Raynn, thanks that must have been it.

Ahh! Yes! Thank you Raynn, that really had to have been it.

Half the time I miss dialog because of my dogs playing and talking (boxer mix... ZOMG they are talky... he doesn't even stop in his sleep LOL) on CSI since they get their dinner right before the show airs here.

And Byline, y'know... I think sort of the same thing. They're now grasping at what's making OTHER shows/stations popular... I think if they focused a bit more on the really odd cases like they had in some earlier episodes, or going with ideas based more off little known true cases, they'd get a bit more of their edge back. It seems lately they're more focused on pop culture, which once in a while is great, but too often is too much.

Exactly. A pattern is developing whereby the storylines are starting to feel more and more derivative . . . which "CSI" never used to be. It was the show whose ideas were copied by others, not the other way around.

One thing both hubby and I did admire about this episode was the set; I can't imagine the work it took the set-design team to plan and put that together (and then have to tear it all down at the end).
