It's to our advantage that sofia chose to do 'Burned' instead of the Sopranos.

Ye she probably chose csi miami over the Sopranos because she loves the H/Y storyarc and it'd be a shame to leave that behind. I also think it has to do with the fact well the sopranos is a few episodes and that's it because it's the show finale. And in CSI Miami she's still got a great chance of becoming a regular again. I think Sofia doesn't think about how she was treated by the producer back in 2005(?) anymore, well I hope she doesn't. She's a professional and she knows that that is the way the show business works ... it's a pity but it's like that.

Miami is described as having "random scenes of sublime pointlessness" and "ponderous superficialities" plus it's all about "sunny escapism and glorious emptiness." Hee!
Heheh . . . great writing. Maybe tptb should hire this columnist to help them out.

I'm toying with the idea about starting a thread about this in the Miami Forum.
I would try it, but it would probably only depress me. So far I've only been here and the Yelina/Sofia thread. I find myself wondering why I persist in this fantasy that things will go back to being as good as they were in the beginning. It's just that the hope of Sofia hangs out there like a carrot on a string.

Lord, loveaduck! I'm swooning with delight over the "ponderous superficialities" bit. They never wrote a truer word. Heh. Luce, do us a favor and please email those folks and tell 'em they ROCK like GIBRALTAR! :)

Hee. Now THAT is an inspired thought right there, ma'am.

pusher, I'm indulging in a re-discovered compulsive preoccupation with Doctor Who. I've spent the last 2 weeks getting caught up with the Ninth and Tenth Doctors. Superfantabulistic viewing. :) That's the Tenth Doctor gracing my avvie. ;)

Wow, Tally, now you're approaching one of my previous addictions. . .I mean obsessions. . .I mean dedications. The American PBS stations carried Dr. Who beginning in the early 80s, and the first doctor I saw was Tom Baker. After that I couldn't get enough, and watched them all, recorded them all, bought books, blah, blah. . .Have only seen drs 1-7, tho'. You don't think they will actually let him die after his 12th regeneration, do you?

Now, so I won't be completely ot, here is a funny perspective. . .do you think he ever wants to pat her butt?

A quickie before I get my knuckles rapped by my dear MD. Tom Baker was the first Doctor I discovered as well. He's the Fourth Doctor of the Classic Doctors. Word of advice: RUN to the nearest DVD store and rent/buy the episodes featuring the Ninth and Tenth Doctors. Wildly different and yet the same. AND there are Daleks.... :D

Luce, good topic idea. Go for it! About bloody time some of that lot had a reality check.

Just read Hrockz newest fic, the bbq one. :D Love it. Well done :D

I'm currently working my way through S1/2 of Miami as i've only just really got into it. I watched Simple Man the other day, and I 'awwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwhd' so very loudly when he first sees her and does the double take. And the ending is perfect. *squee*

I was flicking through my iTunes today and listened to a song which is absolutly PERFECT for H/Y.

Lemar - Someone Should Tell You
You call me up, in tears again
I come over
Your only friend
Put my arms around you
To stop this lonely night
You ask me to stay
But i don't think it's right

When you tell me you're in love with him
Don't you know that really caves me in
And i'm not that strong

[Chorus]
Someone should tell you
How much i love you
Cos i really do
Wish i could hold you
The way that i want to
Cos no one, can love you, like i do

You're everything, that i ever dreamed
You're the only one
The only one for me
So we talk all night
But in my head
Three little words, that i never said

You say you don't know what you'd do without me
Don't you know that this is killing me
And i'm not that strong

[Chorus]

When you tell me you're in love with him
Don't you know that really caves me in
And i'm not that strong
No i'm not that strong.

I really understand where you are coming from here. I also very much doubt that things will go back to being as good as they once were. The writing standards would need a complete overhaul to achieve that and the show is too bogged down with it's extreme 'ponderous superficialities'. The hope is still there that something good could happen for H/Y and I guess we're here for the duration, for our sins. ;)

A couple of off-topic bits....Re Doctor Who, I also loved Tom Baker's Doctor and the two most recent series were excellent tea-time viewing on a Saturday here in the UK. I'm very glad they brought it back. :D

I have to share my excitement with you girls...I am going to the Film and Comic Convention in London on 1st Sept and Mary McDonnell is going to be there! :D :D There are also going to be special Star Wars 30 Year anniversary things going on (amongst other events/talks etc), and I am so, so excited, even though I know I won't get to see everything. *tries to calm down*

Re: Horatio & Yelina #7 - "So Much Unresolved Love" (we quot

Oh wow, MM in person!! :D Luce, that's fantastic.

No problem re brief off-topic discussion in here. There is so much other meaningful, thoughtful discussion that is so very relevant to H/Y, Miami, SM and DC in this thread to more than make up for it. Plus, the off-topic talk is very interesting to most of us and is constructive, as opposed to meaningless trivia. Thread drift is allowed if those involved (and the originator of the thread in question) are okay with it and we're not just discussing nonsense (and we don't completely lose sight of the thread topic ie. H/Y). I know the Mods who post here know that ;) but I just wanted to clarify it for everyone. :)

Luce, what a lot of fun! :) Let's hope the weather is back to normal by then.

We'll be flying out of London the day before that to move back home - boo hoo. :( I'm going to miss feeling so close to all of you here on this side of the Atlantic - I like being on the same continent with you! Six hours difference feels like too much. Thank goodness for cyberspace, where I will really be as close as ever! Any other Americans out there? I know HnM and her sister are, but haven't 'seen' her in awhile. Maybe she's around but not in this thread. I know Patricia is at least on that side of the world!

Sorry about ot - I'm feeling sad today. . .

*Raises hand* :)

And I can sympathise with everyone who has had to wade through flood waters...last month it rained every day except for one day, and it got so bad that a bridge that crossed one of the lakes in our area was almost overcome by the lake (I think they said on the news that the gap between bridge and water was 2 or so feet). Every day the local news featured a high-water rescue.

Wow Lucy, you lucky ...! ;) Say hi to the President from me! I wish I could go too, but I'll be on my way to our summerhouse in Turkey on the same day. And I seriously doubt that Denmark is big enough to ever attract anyone that cool. :(

Hey Pusher, I've just been to our fave video site, and viewed 'Vengeance', which someone was kind enough to share yesterday. Thanks!
