    Re: Merry Christmas/Happy Holidays

It's that time of year to wish Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to people.

Since Hanukkah starts tonight I'd like to wish those that are celebrating it a Happy Hanukkah :)

    Re: Merry Christmas/Happy Holidays

I thought I'd share this funny and Politically Correct Christmas/Holiday greeting that was posted on a message board that my husband frequents. The author of this is unknown.

I wanted to send some sort of holiday greeting to my friends and colleagues.
But it is so difficult in today's world to know exactly what to say without offending someone.
So I met with my solicitors yesterday, and on their advice I wish to say the following:

Please accept with no obligation, implied or implicit, my best wishes for an
environmentally conscious, socially responsible, low stress, non-addictive,
gender neutral celebration of the winter solstice holiday, practiced with
the most enjoyable traditions of religious persuasion or secular practices
of your choice with respect for the religious / secular persuasions and / or
traditions of others, or their choice not to practice religious or secular
    traditions at all.

I also wish you a fiscally successful, personally fulfilling and medically
uncomplicated recognition of the onset of the generally accepted Gregorian
calendar year 2010, but not without due respect for the calendars of choice
of other cultures whose contributions to society have helped make our
country great and without regard to the race, creed, colour, age, physical
ability, religious faith or sexual preference of the wisher.

By accepting this greeting, you are accepting these terms:

    1. This greeting is subject to clarification or withdrawal.

    2. It is freely transferable with no alteration to the original greeting.

    3. It implies no promise by the wisher to actually implement any
of the wishes for her / himself or others and is void where
prohibited by law, and is revocable at the sole discretion
    of the wisher.

This wish is warranted to perform as expected within the usual:

Application of good tidings for a period of one year or until the issuance
    of a subsequent holiday greeting,
    whichever comes first,
and warranty is limited to replacement of this wish or
issuance of a new wish at the sole discretion of the wisher.

No trees were harmed in the sending of this message.

Thanks for these links. It was actually the first time I ever had heard of Kwanzaa.

By the way, I just have to say that I really enjoyed the whole text about holiday greetings, the one Jacquie posted earlier. It was well written, and I would never be able to write something like that. Thanks for sharing.

    Re: Merry Christmas/Happy Holidays

Thank's everyone for the great thoughts and kindness and to you Dynamo1 the 3 different celebrations, awesome:bolian: and here's the old standard poem TWAS' THE NIGHT BEFORE CHRISTMAS always so wonderful~and to all you CSI fans MERRY CHRISTMAS;)

Twas' the night before Christmas, when all through the house
Not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse
The stockings were hung by the chimney with care
In hopes that St. Nicholas soon would be there

The children wwere nestled all snug in thier beds
While visions of sugar-plums danced in thier heads
And mamma in her kerchief, and I in my cap
Had just settled down for a long winter's nap

Then out on the lawn there arose such a clatter
I sprang from the bed to see what was the matter
Away to the window I flew like a flash
Tore open the shutters and threw up the slash

The moon on the breast of the new fallen snow
Gave lustre of mid-day to objects below
When what to my wondering eyes should appear
But a minature sleigh, and wight tiny reindeer

With a little old driver, so lively and quick
I knew in a moment it must be St. Nick
More rapid then eagles his coursers they came
And he whistled and shouted and called them by name

"Now Dasher! now Dancer! now Prancer and Vixen!
On Comet! On Cupid! on Donner! and Blitzen!
To the top of the porch! to the top of the wall!
Now Dash away! Dash away! Dash away all"

As dry leaves that before the wild hurricane fly
When they meet with an obstacle, mount to the sky
So up to the house top the coursers they flew
With a sleigh full of toys and St. Nicholas too

And then in a twinkling I heard on the roof
The prancing and pawing of each little hoof
As I drew in my head, and was turning around
Down the chimney St. Nicholas came with a bound

He was dressed all in fur, from his head to his foot
And his clothes were all tarnished with ashes and soot
A bundle of toys he had flung on his back
And he looked like a peddler, just opening his pack

His eyes how they twinkled, his dimples how merry!
His cheeks were like roses, his nose like a cherry!
His droll little mouth was drawn up like a bow
And the beard on his chin was as whilte as the snow

A stump of a pipe he held tight in his teeth
And the smoke it encircled his head like a wreath
He had a broad face and a little round belly!
That shook when he laughed like a bowl full of jelly!

He was chubby and plump, a right jolly old elf
An I laughed when I saw him, in spite of myself!
A wink of his eye and a twist of his head
Soon gave me to know, I had nothing to dread

He spoke not a word, but went straight to his work
And filled all the stockings, then turned with a jerk
And laying his finger aside of his nose
And giving a nod, up the chimney he rose!

He sprang to his sleigh, to his team gave a whistle
And away they all flew, like the down of a thistle
But, I heard him exclaim 'ere he drove out of sight
"Happy Christmas to all, and to all a good-night"~
