Internet movie database lists Claire Forlani as Detective Jennifer Angell in four episodes and as Dr. Peyton Driscoll in two epsiodes. Emmanuelle Vaugier is listed as Angell in two episodes. Guess it's just an imdb mistake.
I like Jennifer better than Peyton. Not warming up to the Peyton/Mac romance.
I have not enough time to rhapsodize about how much I loved this episode!! It made last week's pale in comparison. Or maybe last week's was kind of a let down that this one looks awesome, who can tell?
Both cases were interested, and I loved the Holly case. Great to see Adam out of the lab and losing that lumberjack beard.
Danny and the dog... omg, there are no words for the cuteness of it all.
The Lindsey undercover thing turned out to be a smaller part of the episode than I thought from the preview. But I think it was a pretty good ending. Not overdone, imho.
No cute lines for Flack this episode that I remember, but lots of yummy screentime. As well as Sid and Hawkes and Angell. Peyton didn't irritate me as much as last episode... probably due to no bedroom scene, eww.
Like last week, I didn't see everything perfectly because I was chatting the whole time. Have to watch it again tomorrow.
Loved a lot of things about it, which I'm sure I'll wax poetic about tomorrow, but for now I'll just stick with the one thing that I obviously did NOT like: that friggin' end scene. Am I seriously the only one who had a problem with how they ended the episode?
Yeah, I'm not a D/L fan, but that to me was just unnecessary. To end on that screen was like a soap opera or something. You watch this whole episode and then suddenly, in the last five minutes, Danny is all about Lindsay? He leaves her at the crime scene to finish the evidence collection, they barely have interaction, and then suddenly it's like boom, he's the worried boyfriend. And the hug thing? Please. If I trusted the writers I'd say he's worried because he's lost so many people, etc etc, but I don't trust the writers. They have apparently lost their concept of Danny's character. Now he is suddenly Mr. Puppy-Love? No thanks, let me have the old Danny back please. The old Danny would be worried about losing a friend, but I don't think it would turn into the catalyst that made him ask them out (to judge from next week's promo). If he really likes her, why did it take something like this to get his attention? I have to say this 'relationship' or 'attraction' or whatever is lost on me completely. They need to just leave stuff like that to the fanfic writers, they'll flesh it out better. Seriously.
But I honestly think the most annoying thing about it was that they literally had a freeze frame of them hugging as the final scene. And then the promo that's all about Danny and Lindsay? Did this become the D/L show and I missed it? They need to settle this stuff and get back to the point of the show. It's sad that the last few minutes of this episode might have ruined the rest of it for me.
I also don't get how, last season, it seemed like Lindsay was interested in Danny and I got the feeling he was just sort of toying with her, or maybe flirting but not being serious. Now, all of a sudden, he's chasing after her and she's resisting...Did I miss something? Seriously?
And then again, perhaps it seems so bad because it's basically looking like Danny is suddenly love-struck and she shoots him down within the next few episodes, which will probably make him look like a total fool. That's right, what a way to get ratings.
But, anyway, I guess I'm just rambling now. Suffice it to say that the episode was awesome until they took that last bit too far in my opinion. Run in and save her, yes, even hug her if the mood strikes you, but freezing it on that screen was overly dramatic and upped the cheese-factor for me.
For one, I totally don't see what the big deal was about the last scene being so great. Wow..everything from them finding the girl, to Lindsay taking her place, to her setting the bomb off, to Danny looking for her, and then the "hug" took all of less than 4 minutes.
Why wouldn't he be concerned about her? Yeah he's gonna look like an idiot next week when she blows him off. Why is he pursuing her? He hardly paid that much attention to her last season.
Danny's been through so much with the loss of Aiden, his brother in a coma, Flack getting injured. He's lost so many people, no wonder he was worried about her. Maybe the reason he feels the need to ask her out is based on fear of losing somebody else.
Besides, if she does turn him down, I'm hoping something will happen with him and Det Angell because Lindsay's an idiot for turning that hottie down. She doesn't deserve him.
As for the rest of the episode. Loved it. Flack looked yummy as usual and there will be some great Danny/Flack caps. The Danny/doggie scene will be some cute caps as well.
I've not voted yet because I can't decide on my overall vote. The ending loses points in my book.
I agree with Fay, we didn't need a soap opera style ending. I thought this was a CRIME show.
You make a good point about that 'hostage' thing only being about five minutes long, 1CSIMfan.
But here's my thing--they could have shown the whole team worried for Lindsay, shown that she's their friend and they care about her, that she's a valued member of the team. they could have had a great character moment with them all finding her and being happy and then leaving together as a group, to show the unity and friendship...but they sacrificed that for a 'romantic' moment. The writers need to learn that romance is not the only way to develop character relationships. These people work together, they're going to be close. That doesn't mean they need to make goo-goo eyes at each other the whole time and go out. Yes, I talk about that stuff when I'm shipping, but that's outside the show, in discussion, and totally separate from what happens on the screen. For them to devote time to this stuff on the show is the cheap way out. I expect better, quite frankly.
You make a good point about why Danny would ask Lindsay out for fear of losing someone else, 1CSIMfan, but there's one little problem--the writers might remember what happened last season, but the characters don't seem to be the slightest bit affected by that.
But, you know, being stubborn (as I tend to be), I will naturally write fanfic that totally contradicts the idea of Danny/Lindsay and insert the ship of my choice instead. The point of shipping and fanfic for me (and, I'm sure, for so many others as well) is thinking outside the little box that they give us and expanding on things. So the writers can cater to some fans or the typical tv-show formula in an attempt to boost ratings, but in the end it's extraneous. The fans will imagine what they want with regards to romantic relationships, whether they ship Danny/Lindsay or Mac/Hawkes--they will enjoy scenes on the show and dialogue between the characters. The writers needn't have put such emphasis on a relationship, because the fans do that themselves. So, basically, they could have avoided the risk of turning a crime show into a semi-soap opera. They should concentrate on trying to draw in viewers based on the original premise of the show, which revolves around crime scene investigation, rather than fall back on romance.
I loved this episode! It was exciting and fun, and both cases really were engaging. This was good storytelling.
I love both Peyton and Angell. They're good additions to the cast. I love how Peyton didn't get pissy when Mac told her to go back to the drawing board--she just asked him to give her somewhere to start. I love that she took that in stride rather than getting her feathers ruffled over it. And she and Gary have chemistry! It's cute--I like the way they look at each other.
Flack? No snarky lines for Flack? But at least he got to stare at Danny for a while in the beginning. I love how he barely noticed Stella was in the room--he only had eyes for Danny. Awwww.
Lindsay didn't bug me once in this episode! The last time that happened was "Cool Hunter." I liked her taking the initiative and that she didn't fall apart when the guy aimed the gun at her. I was worried it was going to be a Mary Sue monent--because the description really did sound like it was "ripped from fanfiction"--but it wasn't bad.
The hug was unnecessary. In the beginning she was staring at Danny staring at the glass, but the guy barely noticed her. Are we supposed to think this shocked him out of his indifference? I was kind of bothered because as much as I usually don't care for her character, this was her moment. Why can't Lindsay have any character development independent of Danny? It was a sweet moment, sure, but the two still don't have any chemistry and it kind of took away from Lindsay's moment.
Hammerback rules, and Robert Joy handles the more serious comments as well as he does the funny ones. What is it about this dude and sex and corpses? A serious ew. Oh, and I think he's divorced or widowed and holding out for Stella.
I really liked this epiosde! Both cases were high energy, exciting, fun, kept me interested.
Sid- talking about sex...yeah, he was going to that "creepy place" again... I liked how he mentioned his daughter. That's one thing I like about NY- they give you snipits into the lives of the characters.
Hawkes ribbing Danny about the dog (who was a cutie!) was so funny!
Another thing I liked was that they seem to be using Adam alot more. He totally looked lost after Mac went on the 'cold air, hot air' spiel!
Did anyone else have a moment of "Wait. Did they seriously just use a slow motion freeze frame on the D/L hug? Seriously?" at the end....or maybe it was just me...
ok..i gave it an A-.I know last week i gave it a C. but just read. and always remember..and some may hate but im a D/L shipper, so my opinion may be different
OK...i know last week i had some pretty ..umm bad things to say about the eps. but this week brought me back. This eps. is an example of the reason ...im a CSI NY fan..and a D/L shipper.
there is absolutly nothing bad to say about this one..probly cuz i got my D/L interaction..
When he confrots her about it, while she is putting on the vest. his voice is so amazing..like hes angry with her..he just doesnt want her to know that ...or something.
Ok..the Holly Golightly girls..loved the idea.thought the whole, "sound wave" thing was ingenious. i loved the "Size 2 fits" part. In the fact that LIndsay had to crawl through that tunnel. Danny, hawkes and the dog..FUNNIEST DAMN thing all night...i was lauging the entire time..But not TOO loud or i couldnt hear it!
i was so like afraid they werent gonna get to it..like b/c they had 10 minutes till the end or rather 8 and nothing was happining...then it happened.
"Kiddo"..i have one word. DIED
During that like entire scene..i just Squeed my head off..The ending..the hug..oh wow..
I know last week i had some pretty negitve comments about it..but this week..this weeks eps. Is an example of the reason i became a fan of CSI NY and D/L..and i hope next weeks confrontation holds up.!!!
Anyways..that eps. if felt like season 2 and i cant believe i was so worried about how that scene would end up...i think they did it perfectly.

I'm still uncertain on how I feel about D/L. I don't think Lindsay's been given enough opportunity to develop herself as a character (or at least nothing really shines through...she seems to be overshadowed otherwise). I thought the slow ending with the D/L hug was a little over the top. It's a crime show, not a soap opera.
I love that Sid has little snippets here and there. I cracked up when Pey and Sid were flipping a coin to see who got the mummy (then Sid had to plead to stick around). I really do hope that they plan to keep him around and offer him screen time in every episode. ^.^
I thought Danny and the dog was downright adorable. I laughed at how defensive Danny got when Hawkes accused him of being the owner, lol. Plus, I didn't even really think about how much they looked alike until Hawkes mentioned it and I looked closely and thought, "Oh my god, they do. How awesome is that?" I wonder what Carmine thought when they went searching for a dog that was supposed to 'resemble' him. <.<;
And I thought for sure that Lindsay's hostage situation was going to last more than 5 minutes. I kept glancing at the clock thinking, "Crap, when is she going to get around to this?" I thought it was going to take up the majority of the episode to be honest.
I have to add that I think, even if there wasn't a possible romance between DL, we would have seen a hug. Think about it from this perspective - the guy lost one coworker, and almost lost his brother and Flack. Then he sees his partner who is not a hostage specialist risk her life and then get "made." When he finds her and she's ok, would we really expect less than a hug? If Stella or Flack would have gotten to her first, I'm sure they would have hugged her, too. Just my take.
I know, lol. I could imagine the notice fliers for that one. "Searching for small dog to play look-alike on CSI: NY. If you think your dog has an uncanny resemble to this actor [insert picture here] please let us know!"
But yeah, I can't picture him with that sort of dog either. I was right there with Hawkes and thinking if Danny owned any dog, it would be a 'man's dog.' I can't see him with anything that he could drop kick with one foot.
But thinking on it (to bad I didn't tape it or else I'd just check), I thought it was a little odd that he was so quick to tell Hawkes that it wasn't his, but a 'loaner.' What, was he embarrassed? Or did he not want his fellow colleagues to start catching on that he's not such a tough guy? God forbid they take a trip out to his apartment and see he has a dust ruffle on his bed, lol.
Edit: I thought the hug itself was fine, but it was the way it slowly faded out (or whatever thing it did) that made it over the top. As far as I can recall, they've never ended a show like that and it just seemed over dramatized. I couldn't help but think that the relationship was going to be a focal point for these characters.
