George/Nick: Texan Charm #11

I just getting around to capping Thursday's show. Is it my imagination or is Nick's accent getting thicker this year. I'm at the point where Super Dave is going to cut down the body and Nick's commenting about chopping the body down. The way Nick says chopping is  George's drawl is just oozing out

You know, I was thinking the exact same thing when I was watching the new episode.. I love George's accent and I love when we get to hear it really strong.. In the early seasons it was almost like he had to cover it up alot.. *Loves his Texan accent* :)

I wonder why they don't let him speak with his accent more. His character is from Texas so it is not as if it would be unusual to hear it.

I've listened to George in interviews, and he doesn't have a heavy southern accent. He's been living in La for years and it could have just disappeared. My daughter's father is from Newfoundland Canada (where they have heavy accents) and you woudn't know it if you spoke with him because it's long since disappeared.

I don't know if it's tptb or if it's George that doesn't want to speak with the accent. When George does interviews you can hear the accent come out. I think that George doesn't want Nick to sound like he's just stepped off the ranch. Nick's been in Vegas for years so the accent wouldn't be as noticeable. When George did the commentary for Appendicitement he said at one point he had to be careful with his drawl when working with the actors in the bar. There were some lines that Nick had in Blood Moon where the accent is really noticeable so I don't think it's anything tptb are doing. Anyway that is my

worth on the topic :)

Hey Guys.. Not long until there is a new episode..

I was bored in college today waiting for a lab to start, so I started to be a little random on google.. I found this old article (September 2001) from a magazine ('Popular science') and it had a little bit of George..

Here's the George bits.. :)

George Eads, no longer in Nick Stokes mode, stops by to say he's heading off to the next shooting location. It's out in the desert...
Out of character, Eads has a soft Texas accent that charms Devine.

'What part of the show do you like the best?' I ask Eads.

'The technology.' he answers without hesitation.'Like the electrostatic dust-print lifter-collector and the phenolphthalein that shows the presence of blood.'

'Oh, I'm so proud of him,' gushes Devine.

I do a quick scan for cue cards or a teleprompter. There are none, so I figure he's on the level.
Eads distributes some more Pecos charm before leaving, providing me with a short interlude for contemplation. I'm still looking for the stitching between the real and the unreal.

You can read the whole article at the link below, it's kinda interesting.. Also, you'd know it was done in the early stages of CSI as there are a couple of mistakes (Like Catherine's last name being Brown?!)

I loved the eye rolling that Nick did when Langston started to do the hour glass thingy

finally they mention something about some of Nick's past issues. It certainly does seem like Nick's gotten over Crane

Nick's accent is sounding thicker and it certainly sounds like there is more drawl to it :adore:

And oh my gosh....
In the preview that one little snippet at the end where he jumps back...looked just like in The Strip Strangler!
:lol::lol::lol:

Argh.. stupid CTV disadvantage, no previews for next week.

There is a blessing to Grey's Anatomy sometimes :D Because Grey's is on a 9pm here and CTV must carry it  they show CSI at 7. I watch CSI at 9 on CBS :) which means clips for next week :)

Do you guys get there...or anyone in other parts of the US for that matter...when the show prior to CSI is ending, George says, "A new episode of CSI is on its way, CBS next"? :adore: I always love to hear that!

I usually turn the TV on too late, and/or don't pay attention (I've attuned my mind to start paying attention at the "graphic violence" warning). I don't remember hearing that on CTV though (it's the news right before CSI too, so I think the newscasters sometimes say what's coming up next). I'll have to turn on CBS tonight and listen for it. :)

I listen to that every week. :D I think it's the only reason why I even have that Shatner show on at the moment - 2 seconds of George's voice at the end.

I also noticed this week that during the commercials for CSI at the end when they say "A new Mentalist following a new CSI" it used to be a pic of just Catherine & Ray and now it's Nick, Catherine & Ray. ;)

My 2 favorite scenes this week -

Nick & Catherine in the sex shop. Does she know how to mess with him or what. :guffaw:

And I love the eye roll when Dr. Ray went into teacher mode. That little lecture got all of them.

I wonder what Nigel would think of Nicky's off-handed way of dismissing him. :shifty:

I can't wait to cap Nick this afternoon. Although I'm not sure I want to see 'Sqweegel' himself again. The way he moved was creepy! :wtf:

I usually have the TV muted but I'll definitely unmut it next week just to hear that lovely voice

I just finished capping Sqweegel and I must say the arm porn and the confuzzled Nick are :drool:worthy

blackflag I saw that commercial when I was watching NCIS on Tuesday. It's so good to see George getting the recognition that he deserves :)

leprechaun

No. The mandate in Canada is that the local cable companies intercept the US signal if a Canadian channel is simulcasting a show. The problem just before and at the end of the US showing of CSI is that the neighboring shows, *&$# my dad says and The Mentalist are both blocked for the CTV simulcast. So before CSI airs we don't hear George announce CSI coming up and at the end the US preview often gets cut off as the switch is made over to CTV for the Mentalist.

We're also geo-blocked from watching CSI online and CTV isn't allowed to carry it while they can carry almost everything else.
