Re: Gary # 3 Mr. Sinister.

Thanks! I commented on your LJ btw.

Here's the text, if you can't read it:

6 Things You Don't Know About Gary Sinise

1. How I'm Spending Memorial Day: "I'm cohosting the National Memorial Day Concert, May 27, in front of the Capitol - broadcast on PBS. It's my third year doing it."

2. My Heroes: "I simply decided that our defenders need to know they're not forgotten. So I volunteered for the USO. I've been to Iraq twice, and I'm going again."

3. Lieutenant Dan Came Later: "People think that I became involved with veterans because I played Lieutenant Dan, a disabled war veteran, in Forrest Gump. But I first got involved supporting Vietnam-veterans groups back in the early 80's, in the Chicago area. It was a difficult time for them, because they were not treated well when they came home. It happened to a couple of my wife's brothers."

4. Me and My Uncle Jack: "He was a navigator on a B-17 bomber over Europe - survived 30 missions. One of the great things I've had the opportunity to do was surprise him last summer with a flight on a restored B-17. It was the first time he'd been on that plance since his last mission over Germany. That was really something."

5. The Iraq You Never See: "There are millions of people there that just want to go to work and send their kids to school. I have a project, Operation Iraqi Children, that sends school supplies for troops to distribute to Iraqi kids. We've raised over a million dollars, but I like it when people put together supply kits themselves. Our website [www.operationiraqichildren.org] has guidelines for how to get kits to us, and we send them to the kids."

6. Hollywood's Patriot Act: "This town has one responsibility; to make money. If one movie showing the heroism of our soldiers makes millions, they'll make more of those. If an antiwar movie makes millions, they'll do that. But some great humanitarians in this community have also used their celebrity to raise billions and to draw attention to causes."

Inset: Real Troopers. At the Operation Iraqi Children warehouse in Kansan City, Missouri, the CSI:NY star helps assemble school kits.

Hi there just thought I would post this here ans a link to a video of Gary.

Association Honors Actor, Others for Troop Support
By Samantha L. Quigley / American Forces Press Service
WASHINGTON, April 18, 2007 - The Military Officers Association of America recognized actor Gary Sinise.

Actor Gary Sinise received MOAA’s Distinguished Service Award for his years of support to servicemembers.

“(Sinise) has a pretty good history of working with the (United Services Organization) and supporting the troops,” Harris said. “For example, he’s made 22 trips overseas with his (Lt. Dan Band).”

Sinise currently stars in CBS’s crime drama “CSI:NY,” but is perhaps best known for his role as Lt. Dan in the movie “Forrest Gump.” The actor is a long-time supporter of the military, having participated in several celebrity tours to the Middle East to visit with troops.

On his second such tour in November 2003, he had the opportunity to visit an Iraqi school, where he noticed the lack of basic school supplies. Upon returning to the States, he co-founded Operation Iraqi Children, a program that enables Americans to send school supplies to Iraqi students.

He also started the Lt. Dan Band with Chicago composer Kimo Williams. The band has completed four tours with the United Services Organization.

Yesterday, Kerri Turner from TV’s “JAG,” now in syndication, and Mykelti Williamson, who played “Bubba” in the movie “Forrest Gump,” joined Sinise to visit troops recovering at Walter Reed Army Medical Center. It was Sinise’s tenth visit to the hospital in four years.

Sinise deflected the accolades as he accepted the award.

“I kind of have a hard time with this kind of thing because I just feel that it’s my duty as an American, and as somebody who can do something, (that I) should do something,” Sinise said.

He added that his commitment to military personnel stems from a desire to ensure no servicemember ever endures the treatment Vietnam veterans received.

“We all remember what it was like for our Vietnam vets to come home from war,” he said. “I do everything I can to get out there and make sure that our vets coming home today never, ever in the future have to face that again.”

Okay, who wants to see Mac fall on his butt while skating at the rink at Rockefeller Center?

*raises hand*

I find it so amusing that Terry McQuinn's (Gary's character) was named "Mac".

Re: Gary # 3 Mr. Sinister.

I would like to see that or see Danny's or Flack's face if it turned out Mac could skate.

Re: Gary # 3 Mr. Sinister.

I want them to have a DB stuck on ice. Hahaha, they'd have no choice but to skate over there. We know Flack ... er, Eddie could skate.

Haha, but I want to see Danny fall flat on his face -- with that poofy!butt of his hahah.
