Well I guess it’s safe to post without a spoiler box. I for one absolutely loved the EC interaction we got in the episode. We had two scenes, they were short so that should address the concern about the ship taking over the show :guffaw:It’s not because CBS hypes it in the promo that an episode is only about a romance. I thought anyone would have understood that by now

But one thing is sure those moments were meaningful. I really like how the writers are dealing with EC and as I said before I honestly didn’t think they had it in them to do something as subtle and satisfying for us HipHuggers.

I adored the conversation in the Detention Center. How sweet was Calleigh? :adore: She didn’t sulk, she wasn’t hurt or pissed that he didn’t tell her about his forged birth certificate. She just told him that she was there for him and he could have told her. And she said all that with the sweetest of smiles. You felt she really meant it. I’m glad they changed the scene from the first draft and we didn’t get ‘let’s talk about that another time’. They addressed it right away. There was no doubt about their respective state of mind. Eric told her why he didn’t speak and it was no big deal to her. She reassured him and made him even smile. I also loved how she waved at him when he came in… like he could have missed her  Too sweet :adore:

As for the conversation at the end, that was too good. So no they didn’t run into each other’s arms. Sure Eric sped up at the end but I guess it’s understandable ;) He must have longed to hug her when they were talking at the center. I loved the humor of the dialog. I was smiling like a madwoman while the whole exchange. I loved the joke about marriage, about the other guy not cooking as well as her, about preparing a real American dinner, about her house being the safest in Miami with all her guns :guffaw:
I loved the concern on Eric’s side. For him being in danger is something he accepts but he doesn’t want to take her into it. Her answer to that was clear. We’re an item, we’re here for each other, you protect me I protect you. No one is a wussbag, no one is taking the lead. This is about caring and being there when the other one needs it. It’s a real partnership and a real mature relationship. It’s not about falling in bed with each other and then oops “I think we’re a couple” :wtf:. It’s meaningful and that is because they know each other. The years and their respective ordeals and unsatisfying relationships have changed them and brought them to this point (that's not only me saying it, I'm barely paraphrasing the Goddess of all Things Miami Ann Donahue :)). It’s something that is thought through and that is a good thing because them dating won’t be without consequences. But the love is the strongest :luvlove:

They are both strong individuals who can lean on each other because they both care. He told her he couldn’t imagine his life without her. I think she said it back :adore: She was ready to all what was necessary to get him out of that detention center. In this episode they made a commitment to each other and now they are ready for the next step… and I sure hope we’ll get a hot love scene
I loved the two kisses, they were sweet and loving and caring. It was perfect for something happening in public. I’m glad we didn’t get an exaggeratedly passionate kiss which would have totally unbelievable for two police officers basically in the middle of a square. I am glad that she kissed him and not the other way round. This way I guess no one can say it was done out of gratitude from his part. She made her point ‘I’m there for you’ and ‘don’t worry’.
So now who thinks he had to sleep on the couch like last time? ;) We sure moved away from the ‘no midnight tiptoe’ rule from season 1… Finally!!! :)

And one last thing: we’re canon baby. Sorry I needed to say that
And now I'm going to try to have any work done today. That won't be easy ;)

Alright, I don't know if this is still necessary or wanted, but here's a recap of the Eric/Calleigh scenes (for those who don't want to wait another day to know what happened). Oh, and forgive me if I don't do this as well as your regular recapper, I'm new to this so I'm doing my best.

One more thing before I begin the scenes...

No, Eric wasn't looking at Calleigh when he was looking out from the elevator as he was being detained by INS. He might have been looking at Natalia (who, by the way, stood up for him against those INS tools like a frikkin hero, go Natalia!) or at no one in particular.

Alright, moving on to the good stuff.

Scene One

So... their first scene together opens with Calleigh sitting in the detention center, waiting to see Eric. As she sees him being escorted in, she sits up a bit straighter in her chair and gives a little wave. As he sits across from her, we can see that she's on the verge of tears. She quickly regains her composure and asks what his immigration attorney had to say. He replies in a dejected tone of voice that his deportation hearing is being fast tracked and bitterly comments that there's no due process for illegal immigrants.

Calleigh glances downward and then looks back to Eric, asking why he never told her about his fake birth certificate, which is "a big deal". Eric tells her that he couldn't wrap his head around it, to which Calleigh quietly replies (with a grin on her face) that they're supposed to do stuff together now, considering all the things he said to her at the hospital. Eric looks into her eyes and very seriously assures her that he meant all of it. Calleigh nods while maintaining eye contact, gulping once and silently accepting the reiteration of his love for her.

Eric shakes his head, lets out a frustrated breath and explains that he feels his life is a lie. Calleigh sighs lightly and with a mixture of fear and playfulness in her voice, tells Eric that it's alright, and that she happens to like "the lie". He laughs as he looks at her, and she smiles backs. She then gently explains that he could have told her (about the birth certificate).

Eric glances down, perhaps a sign that he regrets not telling her, then looks up and shakes his head, sighing frustratedly and commenting that "this is crazy". Calleigh agrees, and assures him that they will get through it. He looks into her eyes one more time... and the scene ends.

Scene Two

Their next scene opens with Eric collecting his belongings and leaving the detention center (he's released because, long story short, it's discovered that Eric's father was born in the USA and Horatio convinces Eric's father to come and vouch for Eric's citizenship). Calleigh's waiting for him beside a fountain, smiling and holding her arms open, jokingly telling him that he "missed out". Eric smiles, laughs, and quickly covers short distance between them. They throw their arms around each other, both smiling, and they embrace tightly. After they let go, they keep their arms at each others hips (hiphugger moment!!) and Calleigh continues her joke by saying she was planning on marrying him, only his Dad stepped in. He chuckles, and with a smirk on his face asks what makes her think he would've married her; he may have found someone special on the inside!

OK, I swear, I have to post the dialog. If that's a no-no, a mod can let me know and I'll paraphrase, but I think the rest is too cute to put into my own words.

(the shot is close, showing their faces in detail) Calleigh tilts her head, still smiling, and comments: "I doubt his cooking is as good as mine." Eric chuckles while looking at her adoringly. Calleigh then pipes up again, saying: "Hey, why don't I take you back to my place? I'll make you a traditional American dinner... since you're new to our country." Eric chuckles again, quirks an eyebrow up very slightly and says "Sounds good... but danger has been following me everywhere I go..." and before he can continue, Calleigh grins, shakes her head as though he's just said something entirely irrelevant, wraps her arms around his neck and presses her lips against his, effectively silencing his protest with a brief but passionate kiss. She pulls away, leaving her hands against his chest, and he looks at her through half-shut eyelids with a serious, almost reverent expression that seems to convey the feeling that he's just been given the most significant kiss of his life.

(the shot pulls out to show the both of them from the side) Keeping his hands just above her hips, and with her hands still resting on his chest, he says "Calleigh, I'm serious, I don't want anything to happen - " and then is abruptly silenced as Calleigh, once again, stands on tiptoe to stop his protestation with another brief yet impassioned (and amazing!) kiss. She pulls away smiling while he appears to be recovering from another incredible life-altering moment.

(the shot comes closer again, very near their faces) Calleigh smiles, commenting reassuringly: "C'mon, I have the safest house in Miami. Do you know how many guns I have?" They then turn to walk away, side by side, each with an arm still around the other's waist.

Now... the next line wasn't entirely clear. She either says "You'll protect me, I'll protect you" or "you've protected me, I'll protect you". Either way, it was adorable. Regardless, they then look at each other and smile, and walk out of the frame happy and together.

:thumbsup::drool::):adore::luvlove::lol:

These are all of my emotions. :D And that one too!

Sorry I didn't get this on here sooner. The hard drive on my laptop decided that this evening was a perfect time to DIE, so I spend an hour on the phone with Dell technical support before I got to watch the episode. No worries... I'll salvage whatever information I can from the busted hard drive in the next day or two, and since my laptop is still under warranty, I'm getting a new hard drive sent to me for free. But... I have to reinstall Windows and reinstall all of my software and programs and such. *sigh* Such a hassle!

Anyway, I hope y'all liked this. I hope it wasn't lame.

[[edit]] CRAP!!! I didn't post soon enough! Sorry, Jennifer, I tried to get this out earlier but like I said, my laptop died on me. I... uh... well....... *sighs* Well, I worked on this so I might as well leave it up, but I swear I'm not trying to steal your thunder or anything.

[[edit again]] Somehow my laptop has come back to life. I don't know what was wrong with the hard drive to make it THINK that it was dead, only to work perfectly a few hours later. I don't trust it to continue working, so I've put a lot of important files on a flash drive... and that's all! Plus, I'm still over the moon about Eric and Calleigh. I swear, I've watched their scenes about 50 times each at this point.

Isn't it fantastic how Calleigh was making the moves? We're always saying how emotionally closed off she can be, and now she's the "romantic aggressor" in public! Hell freaking yes! I like this side of Calleigh. Let's see more! Or, rather, let's hope that SHE sees more... of Eric! Oooooooooh bad joke, I know. Boooooo!

Hello, everyone. What a great day.
I haven't seen the whole episode yet, but I saw the scenes where they are together. And even now I can tell one thing, it's so obvious that they care about each other very deeply. There's so much emotions there.:)
And I completly agree that Calleigh behaviour says a lot, like you said she initiated all the actions. I guess she's so open with her feelings for the first time and I love it. Their kiss was so sweet and carring and I'm glad she was the one who kissed him, it means a lot more then words:adore:.
After what I saw I have no doubts it will be long lasting relationship.:)

ok, until i managed to watch the epidode, run to work (1 1/2 hours late), do part of the work and come here it is so much more to tell... the bassics and even more than that are coverted by Jennifer, Elicia and Ginna. Thanks guys.... your review are splendid and through.

Ginna, i'm not sure if it is "you protected" or "you'll protect"... but i'll go with the later because in my opinion is making more sense....

anyway like you all said, the scenes are speaking volumes about them as partners (in work and life). like: "we should speak...", "we'll get over..", the snack, the hug even more then the kisses. don't get me wrong the kisses are great, but the hug and the way that they talk are saying more about the level of their relationship.
again, the cooking part was hilarious and the easiness with which they did it was soo sweet.

it was important in my opinion that she was the one that went to see him. H went only in the end to anounce him that the situation is under control. even if the team worked more like a team (sounds strange i know) this time, they let her to visit him, like in the mirror with him staying with her in Smoke....

before i forget.... the "did you see how many guns i have" sounded like "why don't you come by to see my stamp collection" in the Duquesne style or i'm just loosing my mind?

ok, i said that i don't have so much to tell and i wrote half a page... again...:guffaw: professional flaw.

[edit] is nice to speak without the tags..... at least for a day or two... i have a feeling that we're going back to them by the end of the week if not sooner

another edit: found and posted on the spoiler thread the promo for next week. seems that E/C will have at least one scene together and is work related

Jennifer, Ginnna, thanks for the recaps. I really appreciate them, as I'm sure the rest of the non American Hiphuggers do...

I just watched the scenes on YouTube and all I can say is... WOW!!!

I think she said "You protected me...", but I guess that "You're protecting me, I'm protecting you" makes more sense...

Anyway, the first scene, the one in the detention center, made it clear that they'd gotten together before 7.16... I agree with you Ginnna, Cal looked like she was on the verge of tears. She was so adorable, I've never believed that we would see Cal showing her emotions so much.

The scene with KISSES was also wonderful... The way they couldn't keep their hands off of each other was so cute. And when they were walking away, I was amazed (I always am) how small she is next to him. No matter how happy I am about the kisses, I must say that the hug (the first frontal one they shared) took my breath away. It was adorable. Anyway, I'm gonna go and watch those scenes several hundred times more. I'll get to watch the whole episode tomorrow.

Thanks for the link Marija! Last night I watched the scenes I don't know how many times in my DVR and now I can keep watching from here :).

Yes last night was amazing. I agree with everything Elicia wrote. I am so happy that this couple is about a deep, meaningful relationship and not like Elicia said:

falling in bed with each other and then oops “I think we’re a couple” :wtf:

They KNOW each other and are there for each other no matter what. I have to mention the moment when Eric told her there was no due process for illegals and so everything was being done rather quickly. Cal's reaction really made me feel for her. She kind of held her breath and actually looked afraid. I love this side of Calleigh were we actually see her feelings show through and yet it's still steel magnolia Calleigh. I feel so sorry for whoever messes with Eric cause after her gun comment and saying she'll protect him.... stay away from her man!!

I just loved their banter, the sweetness of it all and how she just took charge.

I was thinking also about Eric not telling her about the birth certificate. I liked that she wasn't all frustrated and mad, but concerned and in need to let him know he can count on her. I do think that it was a lot to take for Eric and to be technical about it when he found out the truth they weren't a couple yet.

What a great episode :) I'm very happy.

I completely agree with everything Elicia said.
We had two scenes and they were rather short but it was okay. What had to be said was said and I liked it. It's important that this doesn't take over the show (although I wouldn't mind;) completely). It's still a crime show.
It was nice to see H in his lab coat and of course Yelina...She's great and I'm always happy to see her return
OKay back to EC
The detention center was really sweet. Calleigh was great. She was nice, understanding, not angry for him not telling her. I always figured that after that episode (Motel deluca??) she knew his certificate was fake, nice to see that cleared. She definately had tears in her eyes. "We'll get through it" That was the perfect thing to say.
Too bad though they didn't elaborate on the bag she brought... Something along: I brought you a snack would have been cool too :)

Then when he left the detention center that was.....:lol: Even better than I expected.
Yes they didn't run in each others arms like Elicia said but he did speed up a bit ;). The hug = adorable.. then the conversation, that was funny:lol: I liked it a lot. They were really more than comfortable with each other.
When calleigh said " do you know how many guns i have" :guffaw: THat's right! He'll be safe with her ;)
But we all know She's not taking him home to make him dinner but she's taking him home for something else;):drool:.

Marija_Magdalena, I also think she said: You protected me...but it's all the same to me though:)

Sorry for being off topic....Does anyone know how far in advance they film episodes before they're aired? Are we like like two months behind them, so if we're getting 7.16 tomorrow, they have already filmed or filming 7.20?
They usually film around three weeks before an episode. They probably haven't filmed 7x20 yet because it's only been three weeks since the spoilers came out and they'd have to have time to cast the guest stars. My guess is that it won't be filmed until at least this coming week or next week.

Thanks kinkapoodles and delkolover for the insight, I've always wondered about how the process worked but keep forgetting to ask, figured someone would know! If they are filming 7.20 this week and we're supposed to get 25, I think, episodes this season, then I would think they're heading to Miami soon for the last few shows? Oooh, can't wait for any any promo pics for E/C for 7.20!

Finally listened to Emily's radio interview, she's funny as usual. My ears defnitely perked up when she mentioned seeing Adam shirtless  Logically it would be the upcoming bathroom scene with E/C, yay!! But like some of you said, I'm praying that it's another scene in addition to the bathroom one. I know I should be grateful for shirtless Eric in Power Trip but once doesn't cut it! As awkward as it may be for Emily and Adam to do a bedroom scene, I'm sure they can suck it up and endure the embarrassment of filming in front of the entire crew for the sake of us HH fans!

It has aired on the west coast but just in case:

Thinking about it more, while this is a huge moment for E/C and going canon, it was also a gigantic step for Calleigh's character because she pretty much initiated everything in this episode that finally solidified them being together (despite it's hinted they just starting dating not that long ago). It was HER who said the things ("Aren't we supposed to share things together now?", "All the things you said at the hospital", "I happen to like the lie!", "We'll get through this", "Would have married you" - albeit jokingly, and "You'll protect me, I'll protect you", and it was HER actions (her HUGE hug for him, her TWO 'shut the hell up' kisses, asking him back to her place, and offering to cook for him) that spoke volumes about where our Calleigh is by jumping into the boat with both oars with Eric and finally letting go of her emotional hang ups and fears of getting involved with Eric.

Sorry for the mini rambling and if I sounded if I was repeating myself, it's b/c I'm not as clear and concise as the rest of you guys!

Dont apologize!

I totally agree with you. She took the lead in this episode and said to us "this is my man, I'm going all the way on this one". She looked for assurance from him because I feel that Eric could be a little ify sometimes and Calleigh has always been a direct person when it came to her relationships - no beating around the bush with her.

I watched both of their scenes this morning before going to work and thought that they did a fantastic job. Not sure who pointed out all the scenes and their reactions earlier in this thread but they did a good job. One thing at the end when she talked about protection, I could of sworn she said " You protected me, now I'll protect you", not "you protect me, I'll protect you". Either way, it was the sweetest thing to say. Imagine little Calleigh protecting big ole Eric. She packs a mean punch!

It definitley indicates that theyve been together since the hospital because she said " I thought were supposed to do this together" meaning "we've been together now so why are you hiding things from me??" And again, that first kiss, he looked like he was losing his train of thought. Calleigh has got him like no other woman and its a great thing, a great feeling to see them both so happy. She's definitely so happy and loves and cares him so much she's willing to sacrifice getting hurt for him. I hope the writers keep these two together, although knowing in the back of my mind will make things hard for them.

We had two scenes, they were short so that should address the concern about the ship taking over the show :guffaw:It’s not because CBS hypes it in the promo that an episode is only about a romance. I thought anyone would have understood that by now

My thought too. But then the haters will say that E/C is taking over the show and their relationship is contrived, forced, etc simply because they are together and they can't stand it. They won't be happy unless E&C break up and go to the respective person they want Eric & Calleigh to be with. I think Ann Donahue made it clear in that article that the EC thing has been in the works since the beginning, so they can't say its contrived or forced.

Eric told her why he didn’t speak and it was no big deal to her. She reassured him and made him even smile. I also loved how she waved at him when he came in… like he could have missed her  Too sweet :adore:
I too loved the fact that Calleigh reacted as she did to him not telling her, and how gently she reminded him that they should be going through things together now. It really spoke to the level of maturity the two of them have reached individually and together as a couple. And I LOVED the look on Eric's face when he told her he meant everything he said to her when she was in the hospital. Someone has GOT to write that fic because there was clearly more said betweeen them than what we got to see. Jessica?? Feeling the urge?

Oh... and the look on Calleigh's face as she waved to Eric when he was walking to the meeting room in the detention center. You could clearly see the tension in her face, that fear of the unknown, fear of what would happen to him.

Dude, I could not have said that better.

So now who thinks he had to sleep on the couch like last time? ;) We sure moved away from the ‘no midnight tiptoe’ rule from season 1… Finally!!! :)
Oh yeah, he definitely doesn't have to sleep on the couch anymore! I suspect he hasn't slept on that couch or at the Deluca Motel since she got out of the hospital ;).

Well what an awesome episode!! :D wow ! I decided not to put spoiler tags but if I really should tell me and I'll edit! I was probably the last person to watch it !

Well the detention center scene was so cute when he said 'I meant all of it' that was so sweet! And I'm really confused now when she said 'We're supposed to do stuff together now' (Something like that) see that makes me think that they are together but then she said that she didn't know about the birth certificate I thought she would've known specially if they were together and then the Kiss ... sorry the KISSES!! Eric looked so so shocked and suprised! I think they werent together from before but he went back to her house for and American dinner so YAY!!! and when she said 'I have the safest house in Miami' and 'Do you know how many guns I have?' that was so funny, I loved the fact that Eric said he didn't want to put her in any danger That is so Eric!! so sweet!. Hiphugger scenes were just awesome!:lol:

I loved the scene at the detention center with H and his dad is there and he stands up and looks at him , I nearly cried!:) It was also nice what Derek said about Eric!

Hey all, I know we've already seen the episode, but I just found this article on etonline. It just takes me back to the kiss and hug scene it melts me everytime I see it. I kinda wish I saw this prior to the episode but seeing after makes it just as good. Take a look...

ok, that episode was just amazing.
I loved the cute banter between Calleigh and Eric when they were outside the detention centre. Also - did anyone notice the way he face just lit up when she saw he come towards her - she was positivley beaming ;)!
The kisses. Enough said . Calleigh is so comfortable with him, she was never the iniciator in her past relationships, but now she just cant seem to get enough of Eric.
Offering to cook him american food, her concern when he was detained were amazing as they gave us an insight to their relationship and their comfort levels.

Also Calleigh's concern and opinions on Eric's decision to withold the information about his birth certificate - not from the Government - but from her. She was genuinly saddened almost, at the thought he kept it from her, but when he explained that he felt like his life was a lie, she jumped straight in there to reasure him. Their relationship is very much givetake/equal. Perfectly shown in the 'you protected me, now i'll protect you ' line.^sweet^!

I love how the writers have handled this relationship - if i had the resources i'd send them all Ponys!

Now when I watched the whole episode I have to say it was even better then I thought.

The scene in detention center is just amazing, they didn't say a lot, but what they say is so meaningful. They are so in love and they're carrying about each other so much.:adore:
And the scene when he went out from the detention is my favourite. She was waiting for him and the hug, not mention the two sweet kisses.
I agree that he looks a bit surprised when she kissed him.
And I love the way they were joking, like Calleigh saiyng that she was suppose to marry him, it's great, because all of it shows how comfortable they are around each other.:)
And the best part when she told him that she was gonna take him to her place and cook for him as for a new citizen, wonderful.;)
I liked the whole episode, the part when Natalia was defending him and the part when Calleigh works with Horatio, it was a good epi. And I don't think it was too much of E/C in it and what do you think?

Yeah I agree there's no way people can say it was EC centered. The episode was really well balanced out and everyone had good screentime. I was a little worried cause it seemed there would be a lot going on, but the writers did a wonderful job IMO in developing everything.

I agree with you Monica that everything that was said in the detention center was very meaningful. Things like "we're supposed to do stuff together now", "you could've told me", and "we'll get through it" all talk about the depth of their relationship. It's even better that all of them were said by Calleigh cause now we know how committed she is to them as a couple. And I just loved that when she said "I happen to like that lie" she made him smile. She can always make him smile when he's all frustrated. Reminds me of Whacked and the "I trust you with every fiber of my being, and you know that" line. He was all mad and frustrated and relaxed visibly after she said that. I love that she has that effect on him :).

It was nice to see Calleigh call him out on what they discussed while she was in the hospital....it was her way of letting him know she wasn't giving up on him and he shouldn't give up on himself.

These two have an understanding like no other. They can call each other out on things like this and not have to worry about the other feeling as though they are being picked on or put down.

I think she was genuinley hurt that he didn't tell her but at the same time I can understand where he was coming from.....how the hell do you even begin to address something like that? Where do you start? Of course ignoring the problem doesn't help the situation. ;)

I am still chuckling though, at the "do you know how many guns I have at home?":guffaw: That has got to be my favorite line ever!

I also, think that those who feared and freaked that E/C would rule the ep, obviously, their fears were unfounded ;) The balance was excellent and everyone got a chance to shine!
