It doesn't appear to be the case.Aren't the new writers occupied with watching a great amount of episodes before they join the show?

I find it actually kinda funny how Ryan is always caught in burning buildings too yet he's always just fine. IRON LUNGS.
I don't see how Ryan was a jerk in this episode, in fact, he was more Ryan than he was in years. He and Tom didn't even butt heads. They haven't ruined Ryan, if anything, they actually brought back the real Ryan for this episode.
From where I was viewing the episode, it didn't seem like a figure of speech. It seemed like an assumption and then finding evidence to support the theory instead of the other way around. It seems as though that's the way Ryan's been handling himself for the past couple of episodes ('Spring Breakdown', he was pushing for accidental death over murder and the ME basically had to tell him "do you want to hear what I have to say or not"). Some may see it in a less severe/important light or that he was doing a good job and I'm completely off, but I felt as though he could have taken a step back and reflected more closely on the facts before jumping into certainties.
Are the expectations fair for real life? Probably not. Even in this day and age, some cops don't depend on the science/culmination of evidence but gut instinct and a confession. Some still see the science as a stepping point into a stronger case but not necessarily the deal breaker. Even though I'd like for Ryan and any other CSI to listen to the evidence first, it's actually pretty realistic to see him make a determination first and find evidence later. It's my view that if the other CSIs weren't there, Ryan probably wouldn't have investigated further. Many may disagree, but that's my take. *shrugs*
Don't know if it's true or not(I tend to think not,see above) but I find it irritating that the character was introduced as someone with an eye for detail( one of the writers description) and thorough, which is what was said of him his first episode.I tend to think the writers just tweek the character to the episode instead of maintaining his characteristics. They dumb him down, then smarten him back up,he's detailed, then he's not, etc.
The character assassination with Ryan has been painful to watch (while at the same time Jon is looking mighty fine lately!).
You're right, greatfan. Ryan's character was perceived and introduced as a polar oposite of what they are doing to him lately. The writing for his character has been so irratic one has to wonder if there are any writers who have any idea what this character is about.
The first season of ANY character should be required viewing for every writer so that they can get a perspective for who that character is and how he came to join the team. Basic character traits are established in the introduction phase and the writers on this show should hang their heads in shame that they don't know their characters better then their writing demonstrates. :scream:
Personally I did not care for the episode. Yes, Calleigh's condition once more coming up was great job for them. But her being able to leave the hospital the same day she goes into cardiac arrest...was a terribly written ending. They should have just ended it with her eating jello or some other type of hospital gourmet and laughing with Eric. That most likely would be a bit more accurate and suitable.
Overall I felt this episode was...weird. I feel that lately the writers attempt to only bring in more ratings by putting in the dramatic episodes, which is needed for this show.
This is coming off my TV and Castle is staying on.
Eric did tell Calleigh she should be back at the hospital but I think this was something Calleigh needed to do. I liked the ending, it was sweet watching Calleigh gently touch Patrick's face, cover him then say RIP.
I felt really bad for Patrick the immediate assumption that he caused the fire, then he repeatedly said he was innocent but no one could hear him because he was dead then his pain finding out his grandfather caused the fire intentionally.

IMO, I think Calleigh lied to Eric and actually snuck out. I could see her doing that,
I think she signed herself out because she's still stubborn "I'm fine" Calleigh and it sounded like Eric was taking her back to the hospital. If you're determined enough, you can sign yourself out even though it's against doctors' advice. You can just as easily readmit yourself if things go wrong....and get a solid earful from the doctors, too.
Someone in Adam's yahoo group pointed out that the viewers watch more when they know he's gonna be in there.
What an episode! So good, I can't stop watching scenes from it. At least they actually put the other characters being sad about Calleigh...by the way the song play when Calleigh was brought back to life is 'this woman's work' by kate bush, it's such a sweet song and it fitted the scene perfectly, the words and everything.
Of course the funny parts: the woman and the buzz saw, Ryan and the sprinkler...AND Calleigh saying 'pull it together Duquesne' I thought that was SOOO fanficy. I was dying with laughter.

I saw that.Did you see that someone else pointed out that there were episodes without Adam that also had higher ratings than some he appeared in ? The first person posted a few episodes that had a higher rating than a Miami episode that was lower rated, but failed to post the higher rating episodes without Adam. For the most part there wasn't a huge difference ratings wise. Some of the Adam episodes had minimal increases, some made no difference at all in the ratings and they remained about the same, and at least one was lower."Delko for the Defense " really was the only one that showed a larger increase.Someone in Adam's yahoo group pointed out that the viewers watch more when they know he's gonna be in there.
I don't get it either. I am not seeing at all that Ryan is jumping to conclusions. I think she is trying to read too much into it. BTW I don't think Ryan and Tom dislike each other at all. They are just two strong-willed people who like to butt heads for fun.BTW who is this Kristine that reviews the show? If she is incapable of writing an objective review; then she doesn't need to do the job. Speculations and supporting our favorites is our job.

Oh, thank god I wasn't the only one laughing at Calleigh's moment in the car. I don't know if it was meant to be funny, but just seeing normally stoic Calleigh freaking out like that was pretty funny. Kind of like Ryan in the morgue with the "living dead" in "Curse of the Coffin".
And you're right, slower... she did seem like the Calleigh of past seasons here.
