Ug.. I swear if they make Ryan screw up one more time, I'm going to write the writers a letter of complaint. It makes me very angry and frustrated, especially since I love Ryan.

Actually, I like the way the writers are doing this. Okay YES I admit it, I'm probably the most anti-Ryan person you will ever meet, but that aside, he's he newbie, people make mistakes and think, Calleigh, Horatio, Eric, they've all been at this for years, but Ryan has been in it for what, three years? And it just makes sense to me that someone who had a camera in their face, and was still a young, showoffy (and not to mention cute looking) guy would want to show off in front of the camera, so he sprayed the luminol, letting his mind be engrossed by how cool this was going to make him look while not handling it like say Calleigh or Eric would. But stick Natalia in there, and I bet you she would have done it too. She's made mistakes this season as well and I think the writers were smart to stick something like that in there. Besides, the case would have been too easy if the DNA on the jacket came up as his. So for me, I think the writers are doing a good job with continuity, and it makes us think that not everyone is perfect. It just wouldn't be believable if it was, so this one is a big bravo for the writers, the only thing that I didn't like was the fact that Horatio did everything. But I guess it wasn't just this episode,

I'm just getting so FED UP with the whole Horatio show! The one thing I did like: YES Horatio did lab work! But that isn't a good reaction! I shouldn't be suprised that he's doing labwork, he's a CSI for pretzel's sake! It seems like Horatio just stands back and watches, and then takes all the credit for it in the end. It doesn't always seem like his team did the work, even though we know that they did. And something else that someone mentioned earlier, was that Calleigh is looking more and more like Horatio every day in the way she works. And I totally agree. I think when Horatio figures out that it's time to move on and retire, (IF, that is, he's not God like the writers hint) Calleigh would be an excellent replacement, and I really like that the writers let her handle the little girl instead of Horatio. For me, Calleigh saved that episode, which is why I give it 8 cows out of 10 (Yeah, I'm joining the club Geni lol) Calleigh was persistent in her lack of eagerness to have that camera in her face. She was very very caring when it came to that little girl and she really seemed to connect with her. All in all, Calleigh, for me, made that episode, even if we didn't get to see Eric very much :(

OMG! H WAS LIKE IN THE FRIGGIN LAB LIKE FRIGGIN DOING SOME FRIGGIN CSI WORK! OMGZ!

The best thing in whole episode :D (not to mention he looked great in the court) :D

And Calleigh. Man she's great. Show would be lost without her.

And poor, poor Ryan. Tries so hard and always fucks up.

Otherwise the terroriststoryline kept annoying me most of the time.

Okay, now that I've had so time to calm down and let the episode actually process in my brain...

I'm still frustrated with the writers, but moreso because seeing that guy with the camera just reminded me so much of the Erica fiasco, it's something they've done before. I really think Ryan would've learned his lesson after that one. But, yeah, I understand the newbie makes mistakes, especially since Ryan tends to be hot-headed, so he wants to look the best he possibly can on camera, leading to stupid mistakes that even he shouldn't make. I do think nerves had a lot to do with that one.

I must commend the writers on their continuity, though. Once again, Horatio was mostly the star of the show. (Not a good thing.) Running in there to rescue the girl, once again have more screentime than just about anybody else had screentime... Can't they quit with that already? It's ridiculous.

Calleigh, of course, would be an excellent replacement, Wyoming, I agree. Maybe they'll do that. I know I'd like it a lot more.

And, yeah, I'm sick of the terrorist plot, but I think that this was kind of necessary to tie up all the loose ends. They took care of the camera guy-saga and terrorist-lady all at once. I have hope that they'll get better after this.

There's probably nothing in here that you haven't already said, but I'm going to put my own version up anyway.
-------
Ryan, this is your third year as a CSI. How are you getting *worse* at your job every year?

Sorry, I'm not on board with this episode. God knows I love Horatio more than anything else on this show, but if it's going to be all about him, then it should be about things they vaguely promised long ago and then forgot about, like what happened in New York, and not him running all over town doing everyone's job at both local and federal levels. Apologies if I've already said that, but it appears that they're going with "international terrorism" as their season-long plot arc, and it's dull. It's dull because it's Middle East vs. America, in a broad and generalized aspect.

It doesn't even have to be about Horatio, per se, but I would like some kind of personal-storyline-related arc. And I don't mean cameras following Ryan around, I mean like with Calleigh's dad.

There were so many random plotlines this week that I could barely keep them all straight. I thought they were working two separate cases, but suspects and crimes kept crossing over one another...

How many times did Horatio say to someone, "You're Al-[whatever], aren't you?" I counted at least three. It got old quickly.

And I still don't understand what side the enigmatic Sonya is supposed to be on. Is she a terrorist? Is she a traitor to the terrorists? Is she just a self-serving opportunist who chooses whatever's best at the time? Do I actually care?

The best part for me was at the beginning cause H looked soooooooooo well...................um HOT!!!!!!!!! OMG he looked sooooo yummy. I also liked to have dies when I saw him in the lab. OMG that was the second best part of this ep. Made my night that's for sure.

OK...here's that review I promised.
5 stars is NOT enough. 10 stars might be enough but NOT 5.
Wish I had 2 more hands, I'd out do Ebert and Roepert and give this episode 4 thumbs up. Best season 5 episode since next week's re-run 'Going Under' originally aired. I loved seeing Horatio doing lab work...even if it was Calleigh's field of expertise. MORE H IN THE LAB!!! MORE H SHOOTING A GUN AT SOMETHING OTHER THAN BAD GUYS AND TIRES!!! It could be a target at a firing range or a silhouette on a GIANT piece of paper hanging up in the ballistics lab...I don't care. Just more H with a gun.

TY Katpin.
In my ^^2nd post^^ in this thread, which I ^^quoted^^ part of, I was saying MORE H IN THE LAB and MORE H WITH A GUN. I knew there was a 3rd one I forgot. MORE H TESTIFYING!!! I love seeing Horatio on the witness stand...butting heads with the defense attorneys.

Test Signature:
Horatio=Hot. :cool:
If you disagree, don't tell to me.
It'll make me angry.

I don't think Ryan is getting worse at his job, I just think the cameraman found a couple of Ryan's weak spots--being on camera and wanting to make it look good, maybe even be helpful--and exploited them. I think that's the real purpose of the camera man, he's another mole.

Ooooh, now there's something they haven't done before! A mole... (not!)

Although, what you say does make sense, and I can actually see that happening. The authorities are out to get the lab because they had a mole, so now they're sending in their own mole because that's just what the lab needs now - more screw ups!

So, since this was tonight's repeat episode I'll go ahead and bump this up with my review.

So this was was the infamous Ryan sprays too much Luminol episode. Even I knew that too much luminol can compromise the blood. The chemical compound that Valera mentioned? It's the same compound found in certain bleaches..

*gasp* Horatio put on gloves TWICE in the episode, AND worked in the firearms lab...while Calleigh was having a Horatio moment with Emma. I like it better that way anyway.

This episode was very Season 4/Mala Nocha reminiscent at times, but I still enjoyed it. It looks like a possible season finale builder. *mumbles incoherently under breath*

yea i like the calligh moment with the little girl that was always my favorite in this episode i agee with Happilyhappy about this This episode was very Season 4/Mala Nocha reminiscent at times

this was the first time i got to see this one since i missed it when it aired the first time. i liked it, i especially liked that H put on gloves and did actual CSI work. i was in shock almost. i thought ryan was a little cocky around the camera dude, that got on my nerves. but other than that i enjoyed the episode even if the plot of international terrorists in florida seemed a little far fetched...but hey, its miami!

While I enjoyed seeing H in the lab, didn't it seem strange that H was doing Calleigh's work and Calleigh was invading H territory? And, no, I don't agree that Calleigh was great with the child. It seemed strained & unnatural to her.
Ryan has been portrayed as a screw-up since Day 1, always having to redeem himself. But he comes roaring back each time, to his credit. He's adorable.
However, we see Natalia, the true newbie, appearing competent. Now, that's a real stretch. Please, someone tell me what purpose she serves on the team.
