Exactly. The common niceties should be available to anyone, not just 'good' people. (But who knows what 'good' really is. Some criminals are nice people, they just made a mistake) So whomever told Emily that she can't say 'please' and 'thank you' to the criminals -- despite it just being a television show -- was a bit er...well, it's just insane. I can understand if it's not in the script but seriously.
And besides, politeness is professional. Maybe they thought it would make the Calleigh character seem vulnerable or something. They seem to want her to be this tough woman where nothing phases her--but she doesn't have to stop what comes natural to her as a southern woman. Pshh. Calleigh used to say 'please' all the time to criminals in earlier seasons. :lol:
