It certainly makes reading harder... so blinky!
My eyes are unfocused!
I like to weigh the options on this as if I was expected to place a bet on it. I feel like it helps me rationalize, while I speculate. I wonder if we could start a character death pool! Take bets, maybe winners can get a fancy graphic!
"I won the NY death pool and all I got was this lousy banner" ^_^ I'd volunteer to make them!
I know. It's like those ads ya get on the screen sometimes "YOU'VE JUST WON WON WON WON WON..."
(...I was really wanting and trying not to say anything, and this has nothing to do with the text chosen in 'Failtective' nor with the character of Angell, coulda put ME/ME/ME/ME/ME/ME over Pino/Sheldon/Marty/Peyton/Sid/Self Portrait and I'd say the same thing, but it nearly needs a warning for seizures
)
I'd be in a pool  8 - 5 says Hawkes. 10 - 1 says Lindsay. 2-1 says TPTB are laughing their asses off and scheming how to draw this little dance out. Actually, no bet at all on the last one.
I like Angell a lot, and I think she's a good character, but at this point, I don't see her death as being a huge loss to the show. A lot of untapped potential, yes--but not a huge loss that would "change the line up forever."
That said, if she's not the one that goes, I think she's a great candidate to be bumped up to the main cast next season. CSI had two detectives for a while, as did Miami. I imagine the team would need a new CSI, though, since if a CSI dies they'd be left with only four actual CSIs on the show.
ETA: One big indicator that it might be Angell would be if Emmanuelle Vaugier gets cast in a pilot. It's pilot season right now, and a lot of casting is going on right now. I remember that was how at least one death on Lost leaked--Cynthia Watros got cast in a pilot, clueing people into the fact that she was leaving Lost.
I could see her being bumped up to become a main member as AJ and Robert were. But if she goes, as many have said, she's a recurring character and a guest actor. Ya don't hafta downsize a character who's not a regular on the show, you're not obliged to write them in at all. Her dying would seem a rather cheap way to fill the spoiler they've given and frankly a waste.
All the PL leakage at this point really states is that:
That we're expected to care about anyways. Whether anonymous cops are additionally killed to make the kidnappers turn cop killers we don't know.
- their death 'Forever Changes' the show/ changes 'the line up' of the show
So a main character or long term recurring one who's crossed several seasons.
- the death is termed of being of a 'member of the family'
I know I originally suggested Sinclair, being initially unwilling to credit TPTB with having the hutzpah to off a main core character, but this would seem to me to at least knock him off the list. Family would more include Adam, Sid, Flack, Angell.
- one member of the team is targeted
Would seem to indicate a main character. Further, while 'family' can be more encompassing where Flack and Angell are concerned, the 'Team' could be read as the CSI's, ie. Mac's team. Flack and Angell are Homicide, and Flack has his own guys, no? Hence Dean Truby in
Consequences? Mac's commented several times how Flack's guys are canvassing, etc. In some ways I could read this as taking Flack and Angell off the list, or bumping them way down.
- it happens in the first ten minutes
- the finale is going to be a cliffhanger
Suggests the death is not what we'll be left hanging about.
- the final four eps are very Mac & Stella heavy in focus
- Mac's current Nemmie in Craig T. Nelson finishes his 3-ep arc in the finale.
If they wanna be clever, this doesn't necessarily mean that he's not part of the cliffhanger - IE. invited back for S6...?
- EW Weekly's bite says 'the cast will shrink by one this May'
No indication yet TPTB will or won't add a replacement character, bump up a recurring, or simply spread the time around the cast, more substantial guest appearances, and/or more stunt casting
So, Not bloody likelies include Mac, Stella, Adam, Sid.
Possibles include Angell, Flack, Sinclair, and yes, Danny.
(I know. Toss up betwee safe and here. I hate adding Danny to this bit, but he's so faded in his current incarnation that while I'd miss him, I think the show could live without him, at least as he is. We're already living without him as he once was. The only reason I doubt the death being his is thinking the show would tank with Lindsay being so openly left to her own devices. It's just that Danny at this point has as much or less presence than Aiden had, and it moved on from her. Mind you, look what it got us...)
Tops are still Sheldon and Lindsay.
