A lot. First, the man decided to stay in the bank because he wanted the police to prove that he didn't shoot the bank manager (as if taking a lot of people and a CSI hostage would keep him out of jail!). Then it turns out that his family was "kidnapped" by the real robbers. Even if it was true, the more sensible thing to do is to get out of the bank after retrieving the cellphone and bring it to the robbers. But instead Mac believed his story without confirming if there was really a kidnapping that happened. In the end, we saw the police raid the man's house and his family wasn't there (as if the kidnappers would kidnap his family at his own house!). Also, the raid happened while or after Mac escorted the man outside the bank. The raid was supposed to happen before that so that they would eventually know the man was lying and warn Mac. Another thing is that Mac didn't even bother to get the gun back from the man just before hitting the road. In short, the man's story(ies) didn't make any sense in the first place but Mac still trusted him.
There is a great line-up of episodes tonight: Dead Inside, My Nameis Mac Taylor, The Box and The Triangle, starts at 10/9c. The 100th episode never gets old. It's one of my most-watched episodes and I'm still going to watch tonight. I can see why there can be doubts about its storyline: a killer killing persons named Mac Taylor. Of all names right? Besides, Mac took himself off the suspect's target very early on the episode, why not just other names? But well, it's TV and it's the show's 100th episode so maybe the writers thought the interest would be high with the Mac Taylor name. For me the special thing about the episode was (no not the 10 guest stars!) the interaction between the main characters.
I wish TNT were smart enough to have CSI: NY marathons on Friday nights, just right after the episode on CBS. I think it's a clever way to attract the viewers of NY on CBS to to TNT. Also I wish TNT could improve their marketing strategy on its acquired series. USA Network is doing great with its themed-marathons of NCIS and SVU like "More than partners marathon" "Gibbs that keeps on giving marathon" "Happy birthday Mariska marathon" etc. So now my question is, if you were given a chance to program a themed CSI: NY marathon, what would its title be? What episodes would you like to be on it? Maybe about 3-12 episodes per marathon. Here's mine! "Tear-Jerker Marathon" Heroes Charge of This Post Child's Play Yahrzeit Pay Up Exit Strategy Indelible Near Death "Flack Attack Marathon" The Fall - we learned about Flack's mentor Charge of This Post Unusual Suspects Cuckoo's Nest Pay Up To What End - shows us how hard a detective's life can be You Only Die Once Near Death - love this episode and his scene with Mac Snow Day Air Apparent Dead Inside - being the big brother is not an easy job
