CSI LV Awards Discussion

^^ Thank you! :)

I just hope that at least--we get some nominations! We deserve it! I think this year, Jorja (Empty Eyes) and Eric (Fannysmackin') were especially phenomenal.

Entertainment Weekly released an article in support of Jorja being nominated (it was in their list of who they felt should get it):

Best Supporting Actress/Drama: On CBS' CSI, a series that's not too concerned with personal lives, Jorja Fox has made her Sara a tough, world-weary pro who's also a vulnerable woman hopelessly involved with her enigmatic equal, Gil Grissom. Hopefully, her previous shunning by the academy is a crime that Emmy voters will take time to investigate-and solve.

I've just come across this. It's the nominations for the RATTY awards. Which I've never heard of. Anyone else?
CSI is up for best drama series, 2 peeps for guest actor, Jim Beaver and Dayton Callie, Naren Shankar and Douglas Petrie for drama writing, Kenneth Fink for drama directing, and also most improved series!
Yeah, so I'm confused, and I also can't find a Ratty awards website either. Anyone enlighten me? :p
Oh, and it's posted in a forum, which just confuses me even more.

The RATTY Awards were created by a poster on the internet newsgroups back in 1995. They can be voted on by anyone posting in those threads for a limited time. It is similar to the polls posted here on these forums. RATTY stands for the rec.arts.tv (R.A.T.) newsgroup.

The 59th Primetime Emmy® Awards and
Creative Arts Emmy® Awards Nominees were just anounced and I must say that I am disappointed :( Unfortunately, CSI (or any of the shipp-offs) was not submited in any of the major categories (outstanding drama series, actor...), though it has a few nominations in the tecnical part. Here they are:

Outstanding Cinematography for a single-camera series-Built to Kill

Outstanding makeup for a series (non-prosthetic)-FannySmackin'

Outstanding prosthetic makeup for a series, miniseries, movie or a special-Living Legend

Outstanding music composition for a series (original dramatic score)-Law of Gravity

Outstanding sound mixing for a comedy or a drama series (one-hour)-Living Doll

I hope I didn't mess up, and that I didn't forget anything. I might have seen the wrong list or not seen other nominations, who knows  Someone please correct me if so.

All looks right to me, CSI_Dani. I just flicked through the list myself, cursing the fact that CSI was snubbed yet again. Honestly, in a couple of cases I think it wasn't about how good the actor/actress is, it's about how big their wallet is (or who they know), because I personally don't think they can act.

I think that it is the curse of the Spin-Off - when a show starts creating spin-offs, the chances of nominations diminishes. Law & Order is in the exact same boat as CSI.

I was really hoping Eric finally got the recognition he deserves this year. He has come such a long way since his days on "The Net", and his performance in "Fannysmackin'" was outstanding.

I'm yet to see "Empty Eyes", so can't comment for Jorja.

Seriously? WTF? This was one of the best seasons of CSI was it not? I guess it just depends who you're friends with I guess, it shouldn't be that way, but it looks as if it is. :(

Well, I actually credit the actors for having risen above a lot of the BS of this season, and the fact that Ellen Pompeo didn't make the list says that they were at least paying attention to how deathly boring and annoying Meredith is.

Sandra Oh, Catherine Heigl, Chandra Wilson, T.R. Knight? Load 'em up with awards. They deserve it for the drek they had to wade through.

But best show? Give me a frigging break.

I know that there are a million reasons why CSI got overlooked this season, even with countless journalists saying it was one of their best. So I'm cool with it not getting a nod, because at this stage it'll be one of those "final season only" shows when it comes to the Emmys.

But Grey's Anatomy getting best show is a joke. If you check TWOP, even their fans are incredulous and rolling their eyes.

This really upset me, I thought for sure Marg was at least going to get an emmy nom for Built to Kill :( And I was so happy that Jorja and Eric were finally getting recognition for their acting because they did fantastic jobs in Fannysmackin' and Empty Eyes. This really sucks.

Can't win 'em all, I suppose  But it really disappoints me that they didn't include the actors that really deserved it.

I just saw this on my NEWS, and went "WHAT" once again none of our CSI stars were nominated, why? How disapointing, and ridiculous.. I honestly can't believe these 'judges' watch CSI, and go "Oh, well, their just not up to par" I'm mad, and shocked

In my opinion, CSI didn't deserve any Emmy nomination; they had a less then stellar season.

The Emmy people want to see drama and angst. They want to see raw human emotions and riveting storylines.

CSI is a procedural show that sticks to the science of fighting crime.

However, there is room to show the human side of these characters. CSIs are human beings who have lives behind their work. I'm sure their work profoundly effects their very core but we are not subject to that in CSI-The Show. The TPTB are dogmatic in their 'It's a science show' mantra to the point where they are myopic in their choice of storylines.

As long they stay on this route they will never, ever be nominated in any Emmy category.

However, I will end this opinion by saying I don't think any of the shows save House really deserve an Emmy nod. Grey's Anatomy wasn't a good as season two and I haven't really gotten the whole 'Heroes' phenom.
