I kept thinking I know Em's friend though (John Cooley), but can't remember where I have seen him before.
Walton Goggins played John Cooley. He appeared in a CSI episode "Empty Eyes" a couple of years ago and Detective Shane Vendrell on The Shield.

Yeah, the way that (what was his name? John?) said that he was sorry he wasn't there for her, and her sort of blank look makes me think that he was the father.

I really liked the conversation between Rossi and Prentiss about what made Matthew so important to her. Because while Rossi didn't seem to really be pressing her, you could still tell that he wanted to know why she was doing what she was doing for a friend that it was clear she hadn't seen in a while. I also liked that in a way she couldn't really bring herself to say that she had been pregnant out loud. She kind of trailed off, and Rossi realized what she was implying. Overall, just a good scene.

I like the professional relationship between Rossi and Prentiss. It's been touched upon, but never really obvious until this episode.

Does anyone know what the song at the end was?

I liked the episode but I didn't love it, I would give it a 8/10 just something missing. I do like that we have some background on Em, we knew she traveled a lot as a child but really she let us know how it felt the need to be accepted and loved, the abortion and how the church treated her. The problem I had with it, is that I guess about a couple minutes before Rossi did that Em had gotten pregnante. I remembered back to when JJ was pregnante and Em had that look ever so quickly then gone. As to the nose bleed at the end, I think it was suppost to represent Em letting go of what had haunted her, in the ep all of the victims had nose bleeds, but in this case it was just an accepted release of her inner demons if you will of her fears and heartache.

Lines I liked:
Prentiss: Is Hotch still here?
Garcia: I'm pretty sure he lives here.

Someone asked about the music, I found this in the "Notes" section at Tv.com... The music heard in this episode was "My Side of the Story" by Hodges and "The Fix" by The Noises 10.

Next weeks episode looks interesting.

I didn't even notice a nosebleed. Guess I wasn't paying close enough attention.

Destiny, I was a bit over-enthusiastic with my grading, but I really did like the episode. You are right though- something was off. My thought was that it was because there wasn't much profiling.

I don't really know what you're saying.

I was reading a recap, and I had to post this because I liked it: "Garcia's bubbliness does not survive contact with Emily's grief. Paget is good at her job."

Oh, by the way, how old is Prentiss? I know Paget's 40, but I don't remember if there was something that mentioned how long it was since Emily was 15.

^ I don't know her age either.

I really liked the latest episode because we got to to see more about Emily and the team with Emily. It's try something was a bit odd in this episode,I think it was because the episode was centered around Emily and not the case this time.

It was right at the very end when she is standing outside the church looking at the picture and she reaches up and notices her nose is bleeding.

The profiling is one thing, the other is I think Morgans thinking vs Rossi's thinking, I remember when Morgan and Rossi got into it if you will in that one episode and then Garcia was shot, Morgan was in church and making like he had all these changes in his thought process, while demonology being exercised is at times are to comprehend, the fact that he waved it off so many times it was on character and yet out of character at the sametime.

As to the look, it was in the eyes, how happy she was but then you could tell that there was something in the back of her mind, it was fleeting like it popped in and the wall came up and blocked it off. It was so subtle I actually watched it in several different eps and noticed it. I can't explain it further other then this.

Well in ep 4x14 "Cold Comfort" it stated she was born in the 70's
Reid: (about Prentiss' birthday) 7:12 AM, October 12, 197..
Prentiss: Hey!

So she ranges between 29 and 38 yrs old. My guess by her response and given the Paget's age I would say probably more between 35 & 38

Hee! I didn't remember that line. I need to go back and figure out why I don't, because that's something I thought I would've remembered. (It's actually a liiiiiiitle creepy that Reid knows that. XD)

Okay, so you were saying how whenever they talked about JJ's pregnancy, you could tell that Emily was thinking about something, even if it wasn't obvious? That makes me wonder if Paget knew her character's background. (And, speaks to her acting talents)

knowing Reids memory he probably seen it somewhere and that is how he knew it.

I don't know if they filmed the eps straight, or because of the strike what were interrupted, heck it could be something she herself did on her own without knowledge of this last episode, impromptu acting. Also lets face it in the ep "Revelations" when JJ and Hotch asks Em how why she doesn't react to the horrible deaths and such, Em gets flustered and says something like she is able to separate her emotions from her job.

As to the link I am talking about its a kind of blink and you miss it fleeting, granted I could be wrong and it could be just wonderment of JJ being pregnante and being happy for her friend but after this episode and the knowledge we learned, it got me to thinking what if it was more then that. could be off camera someone shined a light at her and that was the cause lol, but all the time, that would be a bad light guy/gal then lol.

Yayyy! A forum about my other favorite show! Haha.

This week's episode was phenomenal. I cried. Emily is one of my favorite characters and I was so excited to learn so much about her.

My favorite quote was Garcia saying that Hotch lived at the BAU. I am in agreement there.

I liked Rossi in this episode as well. In 'Zoe's Reprise' we saw how he was a mentor to JJ, and now we are saying how he is a mentor to the entire team. Gideon seemed very fatherly, and now Rossi is starting to step into that role, which is nice.

I desperately need some more Morgan/Garcia. *sigh*

Prentiss is quickly becoming my favourite character. I've been trying to catch up on this season and managed to catch last week's episode, which was a really good one, although I was a bit surprised not to see too much profiling in this one. That's okay though, the story by itself was both creepy and mysterious and had plenty development for one of its characters.

I just spend half the week trying to find the song at the end of the episode but D already found it so I suppose I should have checked this thread sooner. The 'My Side of the Story' song seems to be the one played right at the end while she was at the church. Which is good because I was trying to find the other song D mentioned in case that was the one I wanted - which it wasn't - and I couldn't find it anywhere. :p

This show has an awesome choice of music. *drool*

The new issue of TV Guide had a behind the scenes thing on Criminal Minds. I've scanned it for you all to see. It has some pics of some of the cast members being silly. It's very cute.

Enjoy!. :D

^ Hahahah that is awesome! I loooove Criminal Minds. It's one of my fave shows, and my fave character is definitely Prentiss.

-I guessed that Foyett (sp?) was going to end up the killer.
-Hotch... crying? That's freaking rare.
-Morgan was the tackle-ee instead of the tackler! Oh, and that's a horrible way to mock someone. "Hi, I could've killed you. See this bullet? It proves it. Go ahead and keep it."
-I liked the fake-out after Morgan's unconscious, even though I new it'd be the CoTW.
-I liked Rossi being tough-love with Hotch after the bus massacre. Offering him a gun was an interesting touch.
-We lost. We caught the guy, but he still ended up getting away. Free to kill again. Crap.

NEXT WEEK: Fire! Stress!Garcia! That's why she's a computer analyst!
