Character Development/Screentime Discussion

I don't know if this means anything (as I know anyone can edit a Wikipedia entry) but Wendy's status on here is showing as 'resigned'. If that's to be believed, I'm wondering if they're going to say that the thing with her and Hodges didn't work out, so she resigned because it was awkward to stay. Either that, or they get married and she's resigned so she can stay home with the baby. *grins*

Personally, I can see Hodges as the kind of man who would like to 'keep the little lady at home'. :)

I don't really see that myself. I thought one of the reasons he liked her was because of her intelligence and ability.

Personally, I'd like to see the explanation be something along the lines of her either transfering shifts (to be with Hodges, of course), or maybe going off for more training for the field or something.

Either way, I'll miss Wendy, and wonder who they'll have doing DNA now..

I guess I really don't understand why they had to let her go. I mean, they're going to have SOMEone doing DNA. Why does it have to be another actor/actress?

Maybe they won't have someone in the DNA lab.Just like in CSI:NY.
I wouldn't be surprised if that happened. Hodges could technically just take over those responsibilities anyway. Greg did both Trace/DNA in the lab when he was a lab rat. Why not Hodges?

Or Henry could also pick up DNA. Yeah Greg did DNA/Tox and Trace way back in the early days.

Of course, we're taking it for granted that Wallace Langham will be back as Hodges for season 11; TPTB could just as easily say that he and Wendy left the lab together for sunnier climes or whatnot, and cut both of them...

Those things are possible, but I think back in earlier seasons we (the viewers and fans) didn't know any better about who does what in the lab, therefore they could get away with the DNA tech doing trace, etc.

But now...I don't think it would fly now for them to have one person doing more than one thing. The viewers are way, way more educated now on how things work...or should work. ;) So, I hope they don't try to do it that way.

Don't give TPTB any ideas, SpasmThatCat. I don't think the fans would be able to make it if both Hodges and Wendy left for, I don't know, Florida. Hodges is the comedic presence of the show. Death without some kind of humor is just...sad.

lol....I dunno what I would do if Wally didn't come back, and I am beginning to have my doubts. He's in the middle of doing another movie so if he is back, his screen time will DEFINITELY be reduced...and probably given to Ray. Not that I'm a big fan of Hodges or anything.....

If Hodges left then Mandy and Archie would have no one to be the butt end of their jokes, that's my reason for wanting him to stay. :guffaw:

On character development, who do you think has changed and grown the most on the show as far as maturity? I think Greg, he's more serious now than he used to be, but still has a quirky sense of hurmor, that's part of his personailty. And on Nick, he's pretty much stable and the same, I wanted to add that I thought he should have won an Emmy for his riveting, captivating portrayal in "Grave Danger", but he didn't ever get an nomination, drats,:( that so sucks. And his sensitivity in "Stalker", and "Turn Turn Turn", his kind heart brings his emotions to the surface. It takes a real manly man to cry, ant that's such a poignant trait about his personailty on CSI. Sara is a happier, calmer girl now as well, and so sweet and she's kind-hearted too. I love her experssions when she gets miffed off. That bimbo in "Lovers Lane" going on and on about "maybe we can still get together", after we get out of prison, blah, blah, blah. Sara's expressions looking at her could cut through steel. Cath is more calm too and mabye it's cause' she's in love:p And our riveting, electrfying Dr. Ray, a "master of all he surveys" he's phenomenal and it's so great he's on this show. Can't wait to see his wife~ we'll see that in S/11. can't wait to see what's happening with all of them. Still almost two months off:(

I don't think Greg has developed as a character at all- the writers haven't given him enough screentime to do so. I was expecting to see Catherine settle into her role as supervisor...didn't happen, she got almost as much as Greg. I think Nick's being portrayed as too much of...I don't know, a macho policeman, kicking down doors and getting shot at. Heaven knows he and all the other CSI's have been doing the cops job far more than they should. Sara...Never liked her, but this season I didn't mind her as much as I used to, so I guess she's had some positive development. Ray..meh, no comment. Brass got some good lines but that's about it, next to no development. Doc and Dave were awesome..'nuff said. I think those two bonded a lot more this season (I still refuse to believe what Dave said about Doc in Field Mice)

Completely agree with you. He gets the odd, funny line here and there and that's it. He only had one line in the 200th episode, for crying out loud, and he hasn't had a dedicated storyline since season 7.

I enjoyed this past season, but I got kind of fed up with the majority of it being Nick and Ray. It felt like everyone else got pushed to the sidelines, you know?
