*Will Ferrell's plot to take over the weekend box office as succeeded. Ferrell's animated super-villian comedy "MEGAMIND" debuted at the No. 1 movie with $47.7 million according to studio estimates Sunday. Along with the voices of Brad Pitt, Tina Fey and Jonah Hill, the Dream Works Animation release has Ferrell's ttle character hatching a scheme to fill the void in his life after he defeats his superhero nemesis. Robert Downey Jr. and Zach Galifinakis' road-trip comedy "DUE DATE" opened at a strong No. 2 with $33.5 million. Tyler Perry's drama "FOR COLORED GIRLS", whose ensemble cast features Janet Jackson and Whoop Goldberg, premiered solidly in 3rd place with $20.1 million. The Liongate release is based on Ntozake Shange's play "For Colored Girls" who have considered suicide, when their rainbow is snuffed. The previous weekend's No. 1 movie, Liongate's horror tale "SAW 3D" fell to NO. 5 wiht a $8.2 million. down a steep 66% from opening weekend revenues.

*Former "Baywatch" star Pamela Anderson said Sunday she will try her powers of seduction while in Israel on an unlikely audience..ultra Orthodox Jewish lawmakers. Anderson, an honorary director of People For The Ethical Treatment Of Animals, is in Israel to participate in their local version of "Dancing With The Stars". Her work for animals "has really been inspiring", she said, "I feel like I have actually done something". An anti-fur bill has been put on hold in Israel over concerns by ultra-Orthodox leaders that it could impact production of the characteristic fur hats worn by some men from Hassidic sects on holidays and other festive occasions.~

*Lindsay Lohan's mother says her daughter's treatment for addiction at the Betty Ford Clinic has been "life changing". Dina Lohan says the world-renowned addiction center in Rancho Mirage is "an amazing place" that has really dug into the actress' problems and brought them to the surface. She said Lindsay, who was seen shopping on an approved outing over the weekend, "is happy and relaxed". She said on "The Today Show" on Monday 'She's just a different person" [well time will tell on this situation]:rolleyes:

ROCK STAR'S ITEMS DAMAGED IN FIRE

San Carlos, CA. A fire at a San Francisco Bay area warehouse early Tuesday damaged a vintage car and other memorabilia belonging to singer Neil Young, authorities said. The 10,000 square-foot building in San Carlos contained only items belonging to Young and his family, including 6 vintage cars and paintings and what appears to be cases of musical equipment, said Belmont-San Carlos Fire Chief, Doug Fry. Some of the memorabilia was removed as the fire burned, but it's not clear how much was salvaged, Fry said. No one was injured. Calls to representatives for Young were not immediatley returned. The cause of the blaze has not been determined although it did not appear to be suspicious, officials said. Young, 64, an avid collector of classic cars, has more recently worked on a project to turn his 1959 Lincoln Continental convertible into an electric vehicle~

*Will Ferrell's dastardly schemes continue to succeed, with the animated "MEGAMIND" staying at the top of the box office. The DreamWorks Animated 3-D comedy, featuring Ferrell as the voice of a super villian, made just over $30 million in it's 2nd week in theaters, according to a Sunday studio estmate. It's now made nearly $90 million total "Megamind", also features the voices of Brad Pitt, Tina Fey and Jonah Hill. Opening in 2nd place os the 20th Century Fox action thriller "UNSTOPPABLE" starring Denzel Washington and Chris Pine, as railroad workers strying to stop a massive runaway train. It made $23.5 million. The movie is based on a 2001 Ohio incident in which a train carrying hazardous cargo traveled 66 miles without a crew. Last week's No. 2 film "Due Date", fell to 3rd spot with $15.5 million. The Warner Bros. comedy features Robert Downey Jr. and Zach Galifinakis, as opposites stuck together on a cross-country toad trip. It's now made $59 mill. in two weeks. Among the weekend's other new releases "SKYLINE" opened in 4th place with $11.7 million. The Universal Pictures sci-fi thriller depicts aliens invading and destroying Los Angeles. And "MORNING GLORY", a Paramount comedy set in a network morning show starring Harrison Ford, Diane Keaton and Rachel McAdams opened in 5th place with $9.6 million~

Palace: Prince William engaged to be married

LONDON – Prince William and girlfriend Kate Middleton are engaged and will marry in London next year, royal officials said Tuesday.

Prince Charles' Clarence House office said the heir to the throne is "delighted to announce the engagement of Prince William to Miss Catherine Middleton."

The couple got engaged last month during a vacation in Kenya. They are due to marry next spring or summer in London, Clarence House said.

The couple are both 28 and met more than eight years ago while both were students at the University of St. Andrews in Scotland.

"Prince William has informed the queen and other close members of his family," the statement said. "Prince William has also sought the permission of Miss Middleton's father.

"Following the marriage, the couple will live in north Wales, where Prince William will continue to serve with the Royal Air Force."

William, second in line to the throne, is an RAF search and rescue pilot.

Aykroyd set for signing of bottles
Actor, musician, writer and now a distiller Dan Aykroyd will visit the Stater Bros. supermarket in Temecula Parkway in Temecula from 5-7 pm on Thursday to autograph bottles of his Crystal Head Vodka. Aykroyd, known for his work on "Saturday Night Live" and in films including "Trading Places" "Ghostbusters" and "Driving Miss Daisy", has been involved with producing and distributing wine and spirits for 7 years. Crystal Head Vodka is available at all Staters Bros. markets~

*Harry Potter has cast his biggest box-office spell yet with a franchise record $125.1 million domestically over oepning weekend, according to studio estimates Sunday. "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows:part1" also added $205 million in 54-overseas countires worldwide total to $330.1 million[/b. In terms of domestic revenue "Deathly Hallows:part1" came in ahead of the series' best previous debut of $102.7 million for the 2005 "Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire". But factoring in today's higher admission prices, the latest movie had roughly the same size audience as the franchise's best previous draws.."Goblet of Fire" and the 2001's "Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone", which launched the series "Deathly Hallows" and those two earlier movies each sold around $16 million tickets in the first weekend. DreamWorks Animation's "Megamind", the No.1 movie the previous two weekends, fell to 2nd place with $16.2 million, raising it's 3 week total to $109.5 million. Russell Crowe's thriller "The Next Three Days", the weekends only other new wide release, debuted weakly, at No.5 with $6.8 million. Crowe plays a college instructor who plots a jail-break to free his wife Elizabeth Banks, after she's convicted of murder~

*John Travolta and Kelly Preston have a new guest at their Thanksgiving table. A publicist says the couple welcomed a baby boy Tuesday in Florida. They named their new son Benjamin[/b. The 8 lb. 3 oz. boy was born at an undisclosed Florida hospital. Spokesman Samantha Mast said in a statement late Tuesday that the couple and their daughter, Ella Bleu "are ecstatic and very happy about the newest member of their family"and that the mom and baby "are healthy and dloing beautifully"~

*Geroge Lopez an his wife of 17 years are making their breakup official with her filing for divorce. Ann Serrano Lopez filed her petition, citing irreconcilable difference, on Tuesday in Los Angeles. The pair announced their break-up in September and said they would remain partners in a charitable foundation. They have a 14-yr. old daughter, and Ann Lopez is seeking physical custody~

* A U.S. Border Patrol spokesman said that country singer Willie Nelson, was charged with marijuana possession, after 6 ounces was found aboard his tour bus in Texas. Patrol spokesman Bill Brooks says the bus pulled into the Sierra Blanca, Texas checkpoint at about 9 a.m. Friday. Brooks said an officer smelled pot when a door was opened and a search turned up the marijuana. Sheriff Arvin West[/b didn't immediately return a phone message left at his home Friday, but he told the El Paso Times, that Nelson claimed the pot was in fact his. The singer was held briefly, before a $2,500 bond was posted, then released~ [Last month he openly admitted on Larry King, that he'd just smoked a joint before coming on air] I thought, one of these days he's going to get busted for that:( Willie, Willie, Willie, your 77, what are you thinking?

*Sean Lennon is finding connections with his 77-yr. old mother Yoko Ono..not about the Beatles or his dad John Lennon..but about her life in an interview broadcast on NPR as part of a national oral history project. In the interivew aired on Friday, Ono recalls meeting her father for the first time when she was not yet 3 years old. Ono says her mother was from a very rich family, and it made her father feel insecure. Still, Ono says her mother would send her father to work as a banker in a chauffeured car, but he would get out two blocks from his office and walk so he wouldn't be seen with a driver. Sean Lennon, 35, said he used to do the same thing when she sent him to school in a limo. Ono says it must be a DNA memory that led to the same experience~

*A fairy-tale princess gave young wizard Harry Potter a run for his money at the weekend box-office. "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1" remained the No. 1 movie with $50.3 million over Thanksgiving weekend, closely followed by the animated musical "Tangled", with $49.1 million, according to studio estimates Sunday. The next-to-last "Harry Potter" movie raised it's domestic total to $220.4 million, after just 10 days in theaters, according to distributor Warner Bros. The film also has taken in $389.2 million overseas, giving it a world total of $609.6 million:wtf: "Tangled" is the lastest Disney cartoon, musical, with Mandy Moore, providing the voice of fairy-princess Repunzel. The movie raised it's 5-day total to $69 million snce opening the day before Thanksgiving. While "Deathly Hallows" continued to work box-office magic Disney's "Tabgeled" far exceeded industry expectations, delivering the 2nd biggest Thanksgiving debut ever behind "Toy Story 2" had a $57.4 million. Three other new wide-releases had so-so openings, led by Christina Aguilera and Cher's song-and-dance tale "Burlesque" at No. 4 with $11.8 million for the weekend and a five-day total of the $17.2 million since premiering Wednesday. Jake Gyllenhaal and Anne Hathway's romance "Love And Other Drugs" debuted at No. 6 with a 3-say haul of $9.9 million and a total of $14 million since opening Wednesday. Dwayne Johnson's action tale "Faster" opened at No. 7 with $8.7 million for the weekend and $12.2 million since Wednesday's debut~

*Michael Douglas is already looking forward to his next film role. Douglas, who has been battling throat cancer since August, tells the Hollywood Reporter that he will play the title part in Steven Soderbergh's "Liberace", which is set to begins shooting in May or June. Douglas says he will learn in January if his cancer has been eliminated. Doctors have told him there is a 80% cure rate. He says his cancer diagnosis has brought him closer to his 93-year-old father, Kirk Douglas. The two had a strained relationship for many years, but "he really made an effort" after the diagnosis, Douglas says. "He was back here almost 10 days, and came over every day, he was great". Douglas says that when he was growing up, his father was angry and often absent. "In those key years, when Kirk was doing five movies a year, if we saw him, it was only out of guilt", Douglas said~

*Johnny Depp's flamboyant portrayal of Jack Sparrow in "Pirates Of The Caribbean" was good enough for an Oscar nomination, but the actor says Disney was less than thrilled. Depp talked about it in an interview with rocker Patti Smith for the January edition of Vanity Fair magazine. Depp and Disney "couldn't stand" his Sparrow role, and one person there even asked if Sparrow was gay. Depp told the Disney executive "all my characters are gay":confused:, and he said that "really made her nervous". Depp's next role is in the movie "The Tourist" with Angelina Jolie. It opens Dec. 10~
