Re: Bones
i forgot to set my vcr again this week
anyone out there who can give me the rundown for last nights episode?
I'll give it a shot.
Kids find a body decomposing in an alley. The not quite skeletal remains are in a black costume of some kind and there is a bag next to the body but the contents have been turned to mush by bodily fluids. Turns out the body is that of a seventeen year old, but he was on the small side (I think his name was Warren, sorry!) and was considered a loner by his mother and stepfather who spent entirely too much time and money on his comic books (sounds like my parents) and hung out with other geeks who dressed the part of whatever hero persona they had decided on (really funny scene when Booth tells them that when he asks for their name he wants the name their parents gave them). The only girl in the club is Blue Minnow and it turns out she had a major obsessive crush on Citizen 14, the hero persona of the dead boy.
An examination of the skeleton shows that the boy was severely beaten about the face, but was stabbed in the back of the neck with triangular blade that severed his spinal cord and caused death.
Angelina is able to recover some of the pages of the comic book that was turned to mush by bodily fluids in the bag next to the body and it turns out that Warren wrote the comic book and it was based on his persona, Citizen 14. In the book Citizen 14 tries to save a female figure called the Blue Opalescence or something like that from a dark figure called the Twisted which sparks a discussion between Tempe, Booth, Angelina and the Head of the Jeffersonian who's name I can't remember about how much an author reveals in their writing because it seems that Warren as Citizen 14 was trying to save someone from a bad situation. Tempe states that her work is fiction and doesn't reveal anything to which the others reply: (paraphasing, can't remember exact dialog)
Administrator Guy: "You think archaeologists make good administrators because the work is tedious"
Angelina: "You think artists are flighty and easily distracted"
Booth: "You think FBI guys are hot and Angelina wants to have sex with me."
Tempe quickly changes the subject.
Zack debrides the bones of the remaining flesh and finds out Warren had leukemia and if he hadn't been murdered he'd have died in about 2 months from an advanced condition. Zack also discovers comic books after Hodgins tells him he would have expected him to obsess over them.
Somebody points out that while Warren wrote Citizen 14, he didn't draw it. Turns out the artist owns a comic shop and hung out with the geek club, has a major crush on Blue Minnow and argued with Warren before he died over who should get what amount of the profit from the comic they'd created.
Booth also finds out that before he died, Warren had a job working in a Bowling Alley and we find out that Booth is a very good bowler and really needs to go tanning and not ever wear a red bowling shirt again. The owner, Ted something and his wife, remember Warren and he just disappeared without picking up his last check. Turns out the geek club also hangs out at the Bowling Alley and give the wife a bad time.
Zack and Tempe have a hard time figuring out what the murder weapon was and Angelina does a 3D image of all of Citizen 14's gadgets to see if Warren wasn't killed with his own weapon. Zack also tells Tempe that he can't account for a bone shard he found in the remains which they decide belonged to the killer. They pull the DNA and find out it belonged to a caucasian male in his mid thirties.....Ted the Bowling Alley owner who also beats his wife. Booth figures out the murder weapon is a bevel knife used in cleaning bowling balls. He and Booth confront them at the Bowling Alley, Tempe hits Ted in the arm with her elbow where Warren gouged out the bone shard and makes him bleed, his tries to hit her and she dumps him on a pool table, Booth arrests him.
The end shot is at Warren's funeral where the Geeks leave something important to them on the casket for him. Booth leaves his sharp shooter medal and Angelina has finished a final panel of the comic book where the Twisted is behind bars and the Blue Opalescense (Ted's wife) is free and thanking him.
It was a really good episode and I didn't do it justice, sorry!
