Bitten, midnight &Top's Excellent Adventure (Lt. Dan Band!)

Re: Bitten, midnight &Top's Excellent Adventure (Lt. Dan Ban

I think it's 2/1. 48 proof would be 24% alcohol by volume.

Re: Bitten, midnight &Top's Excellent Adventure (Lt. Dan Ban

Hmmm...I don't remember. I can check when I go home. Everclear is 100 proof, isn't it? That would make it 50% alcohol. Or is it pure alcohol? So I'm guessing it was probably 48 proof, meaning 24%. If it was half alcohol...*shudder*... :p

Re: Bitten, midnight &Top's Excellent Adventure (Lt. Dan Ban

whoa now, I have been extremely busy, but did someone drink straight Everclear? that that warnings on it about it being flammable! that's pure grain alcohol, and really good for jello shots! :)

Re: Bitten, midnight &Top's Excellent Adventure (Lt. Dan Ban

^Nah, I was just using it for measurement comparison. But the stuff we drank was strong. Seriously. None of us are lightweights when it comes to drinking, and we all agreed this was strong, strong stuff.

Re: Bitten, midnight &Top's Excellent Adventure (Lt. Dan Ban

And we have proof that that's a lot of proof for one person to drink!

Re: Bitten, midnight &Top's Excellent Adventure (Lt. Dan Ban

100 proof (50% by volume) is some serious shit. For example, the bottle of JD Watermelon Spike I have next to me is 10 proof (5% by volume) and the bottle of BabyCham (Imported) is 8.3% by volume (basically 16 proof). So once you start getting into the 20s, that's some serious booze.

Makes for interesting evenings, huh?

Re: Bitten, midnight &Top's Excellent Adventure (Lt. Dan Ban

Interesting is indeed one way to describe it! We were totally thrown off, because these drinks were so pretty. Pretty, colorful drinks aren't supposed to be strong. I guess in this case the proof is mightier than the food coloring.

Re: Bitten, midnight &Top's Excellent Adventure (Lt. Dan Ban

Mixers? Yeah, I think they were. But way stronger than most would be. Usually mixers are so weak. These were powefully evil!

Re: Bitten, midnight &Top's Excellent Adventure (Lt. Dan Ban

No, I mean like you use them to mix Cosmos. But it didn't say. It sayd "Cosmopolitan," I just assumed they were actually cosmos. But I think we had to use them to make Cosmos, cause no way are they that strong. I've had 7 Cosmos in a row and they totally do nothing to me. And with this shit I was drunk after the 3rd chug.

Re: Bitten, midnight &Top's Excellent Adventure (Lt. Dan Ban

Oh, I gotcha. Yeah, I think they should have been marketed as Potent & Deadly. Cause that's what they were. They weren't supercheap, but clearly they're the kind of booze you drink if you're on a mission.

To get piss ass drunk and get a Gary tattoo on your ass... ;)

Re: Bitten, midnight &Top's Excellent Adventure (Lt. Dan Ban

I see my question has been answered in the time I was gone (went to see Mad Hot Ballroom), but I was asking because I saw a post about 42 proof tequila and was curious about the labeling (European or US). Because I have two types of tequila, one bought in Spain, which is 40 proof, 40% alcohol because Europe has a different proof standard. It would be labeled 80 proof in the U.S; another bottle bought in the U.S., which is 86 proof or 43% alcohol. Totally irrelevant to the drunken fun, but I was curious.

^Hey, that's cool. I learned something. I had forgotten about how proofs worked (I mostly drink wine now) and didn't know it was different in Europe.
