HAWTHORNE, Fla. - A North Carolina woman was arrested after complaining to a police officer that the crack cocaine she had just purchased wasn't very good, authorities said.

Eloise D. Reaves, 50, approached the Putnam County sheriff's deputy at a convenience store Friday, telling him that another man had sold her "bad crack" that contained wax and cocaine.

She pulled an alleged crack rock out of her mouth and placed it on the deputy's car for inspection, the Palatka Daily News reported for Tuesday editions.

The deputy told Reaves that she would be arrested if the crack tested positive for cocaine.

She was charged with possession of cocaine and bonded out for $1,504.

LONDON (AFP) - A British mother could get into the record books after she gave birth to twins and a single baby at the same time -- from two wombs -- in what is believed to be a world first.

Hannah Kersey, 23, gave birth to the rare triplets -- identical twins Ruby and Tilly, and singleton Gracie -- by Caesarean section seven weeks prematurely in September.

She was born with a condition called uterus didelphys, which means she developed two wombs, but doctors had warned her that she was unlikely to become pregnant in both.

After their early birth the triplets had to stay in hospital for nine weeks, but are now doing fine at home with Hanna and her partner Mick Faulkner, 23, in Devon in southwest England.

"We are just over the moon at how healthy and happy the girls are," she said. "They are three lovely and incredible children, all with very different personalities.

"Gracie seems to be the ringleader -- maybe because she grew up in her own womb. She is very determined and independent, always wanting her food before the others and to do things first," she said.

Doctors say there are only 70 women in the world known to have become pregnant in two wombs, and this is the first reported case of triplets.

"This is so rare you cannot put odds on it," said Ellis Downes, consultant obstetrician at Chase Farm Hospital in London. "I have never heard of this happening anywhere ever before - it is quite amazing.

"Women with two wombs have conceived a baby in each womb before but never twins in one and a singleton in the other. It is extremely unusual."

'Paris Syndrome' strikes Japanese .
By Caroline Wyatt.
BBC News, Paris.

A dozen or so Japanese tourists a year have to be repatriated from the French capital, after falling prey to what's become known as "Paris syndrome".
That is what some polite Japanese tourists suffer when they discover that Parisians can be rude or the city does not meet their expectations.
The experience can apparently be too stressful for some and they suffer a psychiatric breakdown.
Many of the visitors come with a deeply romantic vision of Paris - the cobbled streets, as seen in the film Amelie, the beauty of French women or the high culture and art at the Louvre.
The reality can come as a shock.
An encounter with a rude taxi driver, or a Parisian waiter who shouts at customers who cannot speak fluent French, might be laughed off by those from other Western cultures.
But for the Japanese - used to a more polite and helpful society in which voices are rarely raised in anger - the experience of their dream city turning into a nightmare can simply be too much.
This year alone, the Japanese embassy in Paris has had to repatriate four people with a doctor or nurse on board the plane to help them get over the shock.
They were suffering from "Paris syndrome".
It was a Japanese psychiatrist working in France, Professor Hiroaki Ota, who first identified the syndrome some 20 years ago.
On average, up to 12 Japanese tourists a year fall victim to it, mainly women in their 30s with high expectations of what may be their first trip abroad.
The Japanese embassy has a 24-hour hotline for those suffering from severe culture shock, and can help find hospital treatment for anyone in need.
However, the only permanent cure is to go back to Japan - never to return to Paris.

Haven't we all heard how rude they are in Paris. it's been the fodder of talk show hosts like forever.. ya don't like their ways, hey, don't go there!!!

FIRST GIFTS AT NATIVITY..PROZAC..PREPARATION H?

The Three Wise men were indeed wise when picking out the gift to bring to baby Jesus and Mary. it turns out Frankincense and Myrrh were early forms of Prozac and P-H. Essential oil expert says the an ancients used frankincense to lift their spirits much like Prozac. Myrrh, on the other hand can act as a natural Preparation-H, by shrinking and soothing swollen tussues, which can happen when riding on a donkey for long periods of time, like Mary on her way to Bethlehem!!!

BERLIN (Reuters) - A 21-year-old German woman who did not feel like going to work at a fast food restaurant sent her parents a text message saying she had been kidnapped.

Police in the Bavarian town of Straubing said Wednesday they had launched a massive search throughout the region for the woman who disappeared on December 23 but turned up unscathed the following morning, saying the kidnapper had set her free.

A spokesman said the woman was questioned over the Christmas holiday and admitted she made up the story because she owed a colleague 25 euros ($32.9) and did not have the money to pay her debt. She now faces a fine of up to 1,000 euros.

^ Hmm, that article kinda reminds me of the CSI Miami episode "Extreme" :) (about the paying to be kidnapped for an adrenaline rush).

Tinted Windows Stop Turns Very Pricey
Dec 28, 4:27 PM (ET)

STERLINGTON, La. (AP) - Officers searching a suspect's car found almost $6,000 hidden in a sock in the trunk, money the suspect allegedly offered to share. Antonio Marcius Williams, 29, of Bastrop, was booked with public bribery, simple possession of marijuana and illegal carrying of a weapon.

Sterlington police officers stopped Williams's car on U.S. 165 Wednesday because the window tint was too dark, according to the report.

The officers saw a green leafy substance on Williams's shirt and they smelled marijuana; Williams told the officer he had just smoked marijuana a couple of hours previously, the report stated.

Officers found $391 in his pants pocket and a loaded .357-caliber Magnum in the front left fender, according to the report.

When officers searched the trunk, they found a sock hidden under the carpet with $5,965 rolled up inside, the report stated.

The report stated Williams told one of the officers he would give him $2,000 and another $300 later if the officer would give him his money back.

Williams was booked into Ouachita Correctional Center.

Man Accused of Using Log in Assaults
Dec 28, 4:18 PM (ET)

DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) - A Des Moines man faces charges for a fight that left two men injured, which may have involved an unusual weapon, a log. Dickie Lee Jones, 45, is accused of trying to pick a fight with a woman Wednesday at a Des Moines apartment and then assaulting two men, who tried to intervene, with a fireplace log.

Michael James Butts, 46, said he had a ruptured left eardrum and pain to the back of the head, while Eldon Hunsicker, 45, said he his nose was broken, according to police.

Healthy heist? Truck full of broccoli stolen
Published December 28, 2006
From the Chicago Tribune

VILLA PARK -- A refrigerated truck full of green--$50,000 in broccoli, that is--was reported stolen Tuesday in Villa Park, police said Wednesday.

The trailer, parked in the Odeum Convention Sports and Expo Center, 1033 N. Villa Ave., was last seen on Christmas Eve, said Villa Park Detective Ed Zorich.

Initially, the Bensenville trucking company that owns the trailer thought a trucker might have mistakenly taken the wrong load, Zorich said. But after checking with all its truckers, the company reported the load stolen, he said.

Police believe the refrigerated trailer itself, and not the broccoli, was the prize for the thief.

"It is a strange one though," Zorich said. "Unless the thief is a true vegetarian or something, I don't think the broccoli was the motivation."

Iowa Man Lands in Double-Dog Trouble
Dec 29, 2:53 PM (ET)

DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) - As crimes go, this one was for the dogs.

According to police, James Clay had the munchies early Friday morning so he headed for the hotdogs at a local convenience store. Although his craving appeared satisfied, there was a little problem - he decided to overstuff his bun.

When he went to the counter to pay, the clerk noticed Clay had jammed two hotdogs into his bun, camouflaging his snack under a pile of condiments.

It apparently wasn't the first time Clay had tried to double-dog his bun, so the employee called police.

Hunger was the least of Clay's worries when officers arrived. He was wanted on a warrant for failing to pay child support.

Clay was being held at the Polk County jail under $59,230 bond.

Bogus Calls Prompt Fake Prize, Real Jail
Dec 29, 3:06 PM (ET)

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - Knoxville Fire Department investigators used a ruse of their own to nab a man suspected of making a series of bogus emergency calls on his cell phone.

After receiving a false report of a gas leak on Dec. 14, firefighters compared notes.

They confirmed 15 fake 911 calls over a two-month period, including four house fires, six car crashes and various other medical emergencies. All came from the same cell phone.

So they called the number and left a message saying the phone's owner had won a gift card from a major retailer, Fire Capt. Brent Seymour said.

Within an hour, Seymour received a call back from a man identifying himself as the phone's owner. "He willingly gave his name and address," Seymour said. "I told him I would be sending that gift card."

But that wasn't quick enough to suit the man. He wanted the gift card in time for Christmas. So the investigators set up a meeting for that evening.

Seymour said he waited only a few minutes in a business parking lot before suspect Jason Mark Harms arrived on foot, identified himself as the gift card recipient and was arrested.

Seymour said Harms' first words were, "You can't prove it."

But General Sessions Judge Charles Cerny found the evidence strong enough Wednesday to send 15 felony counts of making false reports against Harms to a Knox County grand jury.

Harms, 29, told authorities he thought he was doing taxpayers a favor by drawing otherwise lazy firefighters out of their cozy fire halls, according to court papers.
