I don't have any real issue with the episodes being heavy on Langston. For better or worse, he was brought to the series to be its new lead character, so it makes sense for him to be heavily featured in the majority of the episodes. A supporting actor he ain't.

Yeah, Ecklie's promotion is pretty meaningless, plotwise at least. The crime lab is now reporting directly to the Sheriff's department, so Ecklie will still be functioning as the recurring boss on the show.

Reading through this thread, I get the impression that several people must've been watching this episode with stop watches. I mean does it really matter how long Grissom's scenes with Nick, Greg, and Hodges were? I suppose one might've been longer, but such thoughts never even crossed my mind...

I get what they're doing. Fishburne is Petersen's replacement (i.e. lead actor), but Langston is not Grissom's replacement. I kind of like the idea. Having the lead character not be the guy in charge could give the show an interesting new dynamic.

That seems likely. I have a feeling it's the blond haired kid who asked about controlling the victims. I base this only on the fact that he had like one line in this episode, yet he was still played by a recognizable actor.

FYI, the reason that Wendy isn't in the cast list is because she's being bumped up to series regular. The episode guides only list the guest stars.
