^ Thanks.I was wondering what was all this about. Now that I think so ,Nick would be perfect but I don't mind if it's Ray.

Not really hostile but sooo very disappointed. There are other characters other than Langston and I for one would like to see our favorites have story lines, real story lines that make us happy. I really have been waiting for this all season,Nick was shafted in the first episode but I knew he was going to get a great story line eventually, and TTT was good but it was about Taylor Swift more than our favorite guy so I waited and waited patiently. Then this. it is so very disappointing that words really are not expressing my true feelings but it really isn't hostile it is very disheartening. I expected more from the writers, producers and directors. I really did.
But at least you had a Nick episode. Us Greg fans are not getting a centric episode with him at all this season. We did not have one last season either. I think he deserves one before Nick again.

Anyway, the ep will probably be better than the one line description says. I really hope it is more team elements in it than it sounds. I mean if Ray gets in trouble, technically he would be pulled from the case temporarily and then the others can work it.

Agreed! I understand why all of the Nick fans feel shorted, but Greg has definitely gotten the shortest end of the stick for basically the entire series. It seems like the only times he's really gotten decent screentime for any signficant stretch of time were because other characters were less available. We've had 'Who Shot Sherlock' during Season 5 and the 3-episode Fannysmacking arc in Season 7, but that's pretty much it. After 9 seasons, it feels like he's still relegated to background character and/or lab rat stand-in.

I miss his sense of humor. Now they have Hodges coming in and working cases -- for reasons totally unbeknownst to me -- and providing the comic relief. I think Greg's wacky humor is much more appealing than Hodges' snark, and I wish they'd let Greg provide at least some humor again. I know he's matured and I can, as a result, understand why he's not parading around in showgirl headdresses anymore, but that doesn't mean he can't provide some humor.

I feel compelled to reiterate once again that we Greg fans (and probably the Nick fans as well, to a degree) must be masochists to keep turning on the show week after week with the ridiculous hope that we'll get more than five minutes of our favorite character.

Also, I know people aren't as excited about Riley yet, but I really do think that she needs a lot more screentime as well. It's hard for viewers to get attached to a character who has so little significant screentime. I think LLS has done a great job of giving Riley a personality with what little material she's been given, but it would be really, really good for the show and for her character, IMO, if they tried to give the viewers a better sense of her character in general.

Well.

I'm going to go out on a limb and say Greg will play close to no role in the Finale. Oh, he might make an appearance in the AV lab for a sec doing Archie's job, or oh- If he's not in the AV lab, they just flash to him looking concerned for a colleague in peril every now and then.

Another big whopping disappointment. I wonder if maybe in a scramble he picks up a gun that had fallen on the ground or something and had to use it. There are other methods for 'deadly force' but a gun is really all I can think of. I can't see Langston bopping someone on the head with a wooden plank.

Greg? Who is that, again? Oh yeah that one lab rat dude! He has definitely received the short end of the stick. As a Nick fan I am very happy with what we have had for him. His episodes have been great. I would be complaining about Catherine right now if it wasn't for the next two episodes. Without those, she had no airtime either.

I totally agree with that one... I mean Cath is shift supervisor.... she should be in a leading role but all we get is a level 1 CSI named Ray Langston all the time... thank god we'll have at least something Catherine centric the next weeks :)

Now being that Ray has not even been a CSI that long and something like this is already happening to him makes me mad because Greg had to wait 3 seasons after being a CSI to have anything storyline wise like that.

That's because the original CSI used to be so much more realistic. Now it seems they're on the fast track to the sensationalism and suspending disbelief stories of the other franchises.

It would be nice if Ray sort of bonded with Greg over taking someone's life, but I do not think the TPTB are smart enough to think of doing something like that that might actually interest the viewers of the show who still only watch because their original favorites are still with the show. No they have to keep pimping the new guy as the only star on the show...so it seems.

if he does kill someone, maybe this will open up a way for him and Greg to bond a little cause if Ray feels bad about it, Greg would definitely understand and give him some advice on how to deal.

Sure! They might do that! Just like they had Nick and Sara bond over their experiences being kidnapped. Oh....wait. Never mind. :)

It would make sense he use deadly force, he's been pulling that damn gun for ages and it was forshadowing.

We're smarter than they think we are. Or maybe we're giving the writers too much credit....seeing things that aren't there and assuming they put them there for a reason.

One thing I am REALLY disappointed about after BP left is that Catherine is nowhere to be found. That's ridiculous. There should have immediately been episodes where she took charge and/or showed how the new position was affecting her and/or the team.

I have been staying away from the spoilers for a while, and I see I might need to still do that. I guess I'd rather NOT be expecting something good and have it turn out sucky (Mascara) and also NOT be worrying about something for weeks and have it turn out to be nothing.

Yeah that's it, maybe we're just too smart :) Damn the writers used to be giving something into their details at least it was like that in the older seasons... everything was there for a reason... that was what I love so much on that show. They were detailed and if you were watching close you could see that there is something coming up...

But the things we got the past weeks are making me sad... they really can't put one and one together anymore... for all the things that happened during the season (all the tiny little details, like Nick putting his gun out that often and being damn risky) it MUST have been his episode...

But maybe we are really expecting too much from the writers... they really seem to enjoy writing for Ray... and Cath??? Well she was also nowhere to be found the past weeks... like Greg and Riley...

With that we should be happy that we got Turn, Turn, Turn for Nick... it could have been Ray's episode too... :wtf: Damn I would have :scream: about that...

This just ticks me off like crazy. I am a Nick fan and obviously am pissed that "stokes on Duty" became a Ray episode. I understand George has back problems but couldn't they hold this episode for next season instead? and of all people Ray gets it :(. I could maybe live with Greg or Riley getting it because they seem to be getting cheaped out on screen time. I thought when Grissom left Nick would become the main man. I guess I was wrong. All I can hope is that Nick gets more than one episode for himself next season. He deserves it more than Ray.

CSI ADAM that was music to my ears  That is excactly what I was thinking :) I don't think that CSI would have gotten worse ratings for making Nick the main man after Grissom left... Ray came to the show and everything is focusing on him...

They could have introduced Ray as a consultant first so viewers could get familiar with the character (a little) and then given Nick and Cath a chance to run the show and if the ratings suffered too much, then they could have brought Ray in full time. They didn't even give Nick/George and Cath/Marg the chance to see if they could run the show on their own.

Look, when Kim Delaney left Miami, tptb over at Miami gave Calleigh/Emily the chance to be the leading lady and the show is still on, so... But for some reason, tptb at CSI Vegas just didn't have the guts to take the chance. I mean, sure Kim Delaney/megan wasn't on Miami that long, but she was the better known actress for probably the majority of viewers. I had never heard of Emily before Miami.

I just don't understand why tptb at Vegas couldn't have had more confidence in the fact that Marg and George could carry the show as it's main characters. It wouldn't have hurt at all to give it a small trial run. And it would have been a lot better than from the very beginning being smoothered by the "new guy".

I'm getting the feeling that I'm the only one who never thought Stokes on Duty was a real episode - and I never wanted it to be. It was in a list of a lot of episodes that weren't real and I just don't think it takes much to think up any old title and a couple of sentences to support it. I guess that's why I'm not disappointed that it isn't a Nick episode. I am disappointed that it looks like they decided to make the finale about Langston. I wish they would have looked back to the early seasons and tried to copy them and get an episode like the ones that made CSI what it is. A good TEAM episode!

That's actually the reason I've gotten to like Riley. She's not a screen hog. she's on no more than the other characters. I know LF is the lead male but he is a screen hog. BP was the lead male but I don't remember him being on screen as much as LF is. He never wanted it - he used to say that he didn't want CSI to be about just Grissom.

Well, I don't think it was a real episode, per say. But, it's a little strange to me that some of the details in some of those supposed synopsis actually came to be in some shape or form. I mean, the characters being taken hostage. Though that site said Riley and Hodges when it was Riley and Ray. And then the likeness to the "stokes on duty" thing to the season finale with Ray... although I do still hope they change the title from All In to something that's never been used as a Miami title. There are a lot of phrases they could use that have to do with casino related issues.

I agree with this. Grissom never got as many scenes in one episode as Ray has... or at least it didn't seem like it was overdone. I never felt like Grissom was being shoved down my throat. I feel that way with Ray and honestly I have to say that my throat is sore. Whether or not the majority of fans will speak up on this issue or not, I guarantee the majority do not like any one character being shoved down their throats with such blatant disregard to the other (original) characters.

And again, I like the Ray character and the actor, but if tptb keep shoving him down our throats, I fear that I will grow to resent the character. I really don't want that to happen. So ptb, if you're reading this, please tone it down some.

:shifty:A Ray centric season finale? It seems Ray is in the accelerated process to be the male lead. Maybe he will have stories in half season more than Greg, Brass,Warrick or Doc or... had in nine seasons :wtf:

Didn't they just sign him for a year and a half contract? Maybe they will go a different direction after that is up. Or maybe they'll sign him again. Who knows?

As for the finale being centered around him....I guess what bothers me most is that the viewers haven't really had a chance to get to know him, to get to care about him....and if they don't care about him yet, then they don't care what happens to him as much and aren't as invested in the episode.

We needed more of a chance to know him before we would really care about him for an entire episode around him, I think.

^ I totally agree with that , Smokey. Shoving him down the viewers throats is not going to make most like him, it's going to have the opposite effect.
