I enjoyed the episode; probably because it played out pretty much as I expected; although I didn't predict Iona's killer.

I'll get my first nitpick out of the way: Isn't 'Dr. Heather Kessler, PhD' redundant?

I expected the 'B' case to be the more poignant one, and it was. I disagree, though that it could have taken up the whole hour. It was bordering on melodramatic as it was; to extend it would have pushed it over the top, IMO. The only real evidence was in the cyber world, so the rest would have been filler. Great to see Archie, though! And I was pleasantly surprised with Eckie. Doc and Nick worked well together; and I won't get into to the implausibility of them being in the dead girl's neighborhood in the 'nick' of time. It's CSI, after all. :)
My next nitpick was Nick and the father strolling into the nursery with street clothes and no gowns or other cautionary techniques. It was a nice scene, though.

I actually enjoyed the 'A' case. The house full of human pets really creeped me out, as it seemed to do with Sara. Loved her expressions. I thought the LH/Sara scenes were interesting, and of course subject to interpretation; but I, and apparently Hodges , thought Sara 'dominated'. Sara maintained her poise, but Heather seemed uncomfortable with Sara. I'm not sure what that means, but clearly she focused on Ray and tried to ignore Sara. Maybe she can't 'read' women as well as she can 'read' men. IDK. Or maybe it's just Sara she can't read. Sara, on the other hand, focused on the case at hand and tried to keep it professional; which to me further shows her security in her marriage, and herself. I did like her and Hodges scenes, and I thought she and Ray worked well together.

I won't get into the end scene. We all know why it was there. Heather is being used as a 'tool' to advance storylines; but that is what most recurring guest stars are for. She had some nice storylines for herself in the past, but that's exactly why I commented before that her character has stayed around too long to remain all that intriguing. She had a nice ending to her character in TGTBATD and they should have left it at that. Now, unless she is the subject of a case (victim or suspect, and she's already been there, done that) I don't see another use for her character. If she returns, it will probably be to further stir things up with Sara and Grissom or to be used as a consultant. Tptb like her, and she has lots of fans, so I think that's why they made her a psychologist, to consult on these types of weird sex cases. That said, I wouldn't mind seeing Heather and Sara and Catherine work a case. :)

A B+ from me for this episode. NIce to see lots of Sara, and I liked the flow of the episode. I thought it was well written and edited.

Marcia Bennett isn't listed for this episode; Alison Smith is. Unless they screwed up the credits. The girls mom sure looked like the actress who played Mallory on TWW, which was Allison Smith. :)

IMDB seems to be a bit screwed up for this episode. I spent about 2 hours trying to figure out who the Hope's Path woman was (Abby Brammell - she was on NCIS recently, as well as CSI in season 2). I would assume that the actual episode credit is more accurate than IMDB, so that would make the mom Allison Smith.

Otie - thanks for the insight into therapy. Makes a lot of sense, and I like that much better than Heather encouraging Ray to murder.

I've thought this before, but re-watching the birth scene again.. I love how they always have just the right tools in their vest pockets.

Watched it again at lunch today...well, parts of it. ;) I love how Nick and Doc both kind of go "Aaaaa!" when the baby starts crying. :)

And Brass. In the interrogation room when the dad asks, "Are you bringing the whole school in or just my kid?" and Brass goes, "No, just your kid." :guffaw:

Now see I took it as Kessler just not having time for Sara who, to me, was sitting there in judgement of Heather because of her past profession.

Heather never seems uncomfortable, especially with Sara. Yes, I agree that Sara kept her poise, but she was 'throwing daggers' with her eyes at Heather.

Sara would never trip Heather up. Besides not 'having time' for Sara and her judgements, Heather was just interested in Ray because of the whole Nate Haskell fiasco.

Not really because there are MDs, DDS's, etc. Unless you knew of her and her profession, her just being called Dr. Kessler wouldn't necessarily tell you what kind of doctor she was, so they tag on the phd/md/dds, etc so everyone will know for sure I guess. MD is medical of course DDS is dental. There's also veternarians, DVM.

IMDB's info for this episode is definitely screwy. They have Christina Ricci listed for this episode as a character named "Carrie". Was there even a character with that name in the episode? I'm not sure, but I don't recall Christina Ricci being in the episode lol.

If you were sitting across from a former dominatrix turned sex therapist and asking her about human pets...how judgmental would you be? I think I would piss my pants trying not to laugh...now that would be unprofessional. I mean I try to be respectful of all lifestyles but like Catherine said, "I like hairy chests but I'm not about to bop a 6 foot weasel"...

Speaking of laughing, how funny was that "guard dog"?? :guffaw::guffaw::guffaw: I loved how Sara just looked at him and goes, "Really?"

The plushies and furries...I loved that, and I loved how open to learning about it Grissom was. These "pets" last night...not so much.

The trouble with the furry ep was that it gave an impression of the furry fandom that wasn't accurate completely...a lot of furs weren't entirely happy with it. I kinda call myself a borderline one...I don't dress up in fursuits, and I've never done cons...the art is fun though, and I kinda have a fursona...or a scalesona as it were in my case. (there are furries and then avians and scalies). I do have a lot of stuffed toys but not like the guy on the ep. And now I've gotten off topic...

And re the vet letters, it's DVM.

What would Gil's be then? PHD? I don't think entomology has its own...

OMG, that dog moment was totally funny. I think I would have jumped back too, just until I saw him hit the end of chain. It was a priceless moment :guffaw:

A veterinarian is a DVM, Doctor of Veterinary Medicine. I've paid mine a ton of money over the years for the horses.....

Thanks, I couldn't remember the order of the letters in a veternarian's title lol. I've now edited my post.

Seeing Sara jump back from the guard dog was kind of funny and it was amusing that they were talking about the person while they were right there lol.

Last night's pets were all these pretty, young felines acting more like porn stars than felines. Where was the 200lb cat that sat in the corner giving you the superiority, evil eye that's what I want to know...

    hahaha yeah!

I noticed that Cath also made a human ponies comment. That's actually a whole 'nother fetish altogether...or at least it can be. I wondered if they'd make a remark about it but they didn't. Bones did a whole ep about it though.

Now I'm back to wondering what animals our gang would be...Brass is a wolf, I think, leader of the pack. Gil would have been too if he hadn't left. Cath is a cat...rowwrrrr. Greg would be a monkey I think. Ecklie and Hodges could be jackasses hahahaha Nick, IDK...a texas steer maybe? Not sure about Ray. Or Sara. Or poor, departed Warrick.

Now I know that I totally lost my mind because I was a faithful Kate & Allie watcher & I didn't see the woman as Allison Smith. I was totally seeing her as Marcia Bennett. Then again, the brain is the first to go, and I think I lost mine a couple decades ago!

HA! I actually thought along those lines. I was wondering why all the pets were hot chicks. At least the Mr. Doberman was there to show guys did it, but it felt so very Hollywood.
