bf: sorry! Identity crisis 101 here! LOL I seriously for some reason thought PLG said that...My bad! I take back the credit & give it to you...hopefully that saves you an earful :) Blonde moment....yes, they run my life....

Hey Everyone. Yes , I'm back.
I have to admit that I wasn't sure if I was going to post anything here after all that hue and cry saying that we were stalking Billy and didn't respect the man. I think it's amazing that the ones who cry out the loudest about that, are the ones who still want details from those of us who actually went to see Billy. So, I'm a little hurt and angry still. :(
If you read everything I've posted on this thread, you'll see that I tried to smooth things over quite awhile back.

love what you said about all of us having seeing Billy in common- beautifully said :)

Thanks! I'm BF by the way! ROFL!!!!! Don't give PLG credit for that! I'll never hear the end of it!

I think I should take credit anyways - i've moulded you into the billy petersen lovin monster you are today! :guffaw:

Erep - I think GG just felt the need to comment on it, but yes, its been smoothed out now.

Plus - that video interview is goooooorgeous! if anyone hasn't watched it - go watch it.................NOW!

Adzix is spot on. I think he is a bit eccentric. It's his right. Still love his cheeky little face though! And it's fantastic he smashed his phone up! Rofl!! Viva la Diva!

i think what's even more interesting is that everyone who knows him a long time and expresses their opinion publicly says he's always been like that. that no matter where he was working and how much money he was earning he was always the old Billy. he once said an interesting thing, that a person doesn't change with money and success, but it's people around him who change towards him. i thought it was very fitting to his situation.

Yay, Gilsgal your back! I want details too, if you don't mind.:)

I love that and it's so true. Many times people think it's him (nobody on here of course;)) that's changed because of this or that just because he's in 'the spotlight' so to speak. They don't or won't bother to take the time to see the real truth. Is it so hard to believe that some people don't change no matter what happens? That's one of the things I admire about him, is that first and foremost, he's loyal to what he believes in and the people he works with, not just worried about what he can get out of it.

I agree- I LOVE that he doesn't change...ALWAYS a regular, down to earth, level headed guy who left a huge paying job on CSI for his passion: Chicago Theater. LOVE & admire him for that (and other reasons ;p)....Billy is just undeniably the best ever...

Ok, so I have to share my mild disappointment with everyone....

So did I mention (I can't remember if I did) that when I was leaving VG after the play, I kinda bumped into (it wasn't like a full on wham-oh-sorry-to-have-essentially-tackled-you thing, it was like one of those ones you don't apologise for cos you couldn't avoid the situation) a chick who looked EXACTLY like Mattie Hawkinson from the back, and I had thought about saying something, but wasn't 100% it was her...WELL, it was....apparently she leaves out the front door and I was three inches away and kept my normally wide open yammering mouth closed...AUGH....

Just thought I'd share....*sigh*

Don't despair Crim, I'm sure that Mattie walked passed us on her way TO the theater. We were standing on the sidewalk, underneath the marquee to get our pics taken, when this tiny little red head passed by. And I thought to myself , "She looks exactly like Mattie" and I turned to Christine and motioned to her to take a look, and she confirmed my suspicion that it was Mattie. By this time Mattie had entered the theater and we weren't being allowed in yet, so we missed our chance.

I do know that if Billy had walked by us, I would have had no difficulty at all in recognizing him, no matter how he tried to disguise himself...:)

Thanks, GG :)
Wow, ya'll got close to her, too! She's a sneaky little thing, isn't she? LOL Either that or we're all just totally oblivious ;P I think CSIz was still inside the theater, otherwise I would have asked her and we probably would have said something (ok, CSIz would have...lol I'd be still trying to figure out how to make it out of the claustrophobic crowd of old people!) and maybe have gotten some hi's & hellos in.

Billy can't disguise himself...I think I would've chased him down. Taken off the 6 inch heels and taken off like an idiot down the street....HOWEVER, I think we caught our taxi at the street behind the theater...I hope to God he didn't see that....LOL How embarrassing....Although all I did was scamper over & get in, CSIz found us our ride home ;) Good job, bestie!

I think a lot of us have missed opportunities to briefly say hi to celebs. In my case, I probably wouldn't even if I had the chance -- combination of my shyness and my somewhat ridiculous worry about bothering them -- but here's my list of who I've had walk by me, with me not realizing it until it was too late:

Marlo Thomas (teeny!)
Paul Newman (god, he was gorgeous)
Mel Brooks (he waved at my son in the stroller; husband had to tell me who he was)
Al Gore (mother-in-law called out to him despite my objections; have crummy picture of him with me; he was very nice but Tipper looked irritated and I don't blame her)
Doc Severinson (when I was a teenager, I sold 15 pieces of original to him during my first-ever job at KFC; I didn't know it was him until after he left)

I happen to love these types of stories. :) If I had a Billy one, I'd sure share it!

Yeah, it sucks when you realise it too late...I would have loved to have talked to Mattie for a few minutes...told her I thought she was the only other person I feel is worthy to be onstage with Billy...she comes close enough to matching his intensity & talent, she deserves high praise. That's my biggest regret- not being able to tell her she did a great job. I think she probably doesn't hear it enough, but I doubt Billy does either :)

Send very positive vibes to Billy (and Mattie ;p) at 8:00pm Chicago time- he's got a show! *GO BILLY*

All I'll say for now is that, no, I didn't get to meet Billy personally. He took off right after the performance, so there was no chance.

I will also say that Billy was made for the stage. He is in his element in front of a live audience. His characterization of Ray was raw, riveting and full of repressed anger, hurt and passion. I will be going back next year to see Billy perform. He is simply amazing.

Thank's gilsgal We were all wondering where you were, that's so wonderful and fabulous for you, so good job on making it to Chicago, and seeing the man in person. I bet your still in dreamland:p And did you all read where he thought Mattie would "be a great guest star on CSI"? '[she's going back to New York, her hometown when the play is over] & people change their minds all the time, and he's a restless guy according to his own description of himself, and if CM "talks to Billy all the time" what would that mean? I think and from all accounts he will return now and then here and there. His fame, which I realize he doesn't care about, but in saying that he's accumulated mega fans from doing CSI, and that's gotta turn ones head. He loves theater, but also loves CSI, that's a hard juggling act for him, when so many of his fans clamor for his return. He will do what he wants to do, and I don't know him personally and have no idea what his agenda is, only what he wants to come out does~

He's finishing the play, going to LA to check on 'the guys', spending time with family and then he'll be back for 'Endagme' in 2010 at Steppenwolf.
That's his agenda according to my memory of the July 20th interview with the WGVN (or something) radio station. (it's on WPAP if anyone cares)

So I'm insanely jealous of anyone and everyone at Blackbird tonight! I really wish I could have gone twice...*sigh*

Crim sweetie, I've followed this guys career since 2000, and if it's in print I see it, but thank's for the comments. Going to L.A to "see they guys", they've all probably gone to Chicage to see him. But that's another strong hint/clue to his agendas. I hope he will have a nice long vacation. I'm sure this play has pretty much exhausted him emotionally. I just hope he'll do the CSI move, as he's stated, and make an occassional guest spot, on CSI, [as this is a CSI forum board,] and I'll be a happy camper, as others will~

GRISSOM MIGHT BE RETURNING BACK ON CSI

So I've been thinking about Blackbird and Billy (HA..duh) a lot, and this is what happened...

Do ya'll think that the role of 'Ray' will stay with Billy forever? Do you think that the subject of pedophiles/child abuse/sexual abuse/etc has become so familiar and so near to him that Ray will make the "permanent" memory banks? Do you think he'll look back and say his two greatest roles were "Grissom" and "Ray"?

Also, do those of you who went to the play, do you think that Ray's side of the story gets enough attention, or do you think it could possibly be overshadowed by Una's? Clearly the sympathy and attention (at least for me) was for and on Una, because she was the victim, but did/does that make any of ya'll kind of ignore Ray's side and his suffering in a way?

I don't know if he'll look at the role of Ray as one of the greatest roles he's ever done, but I think it'll probably have some sort of lasting impression on him, as I'm sure other roles he's played have done the same.

I think both sides were given just enough attention for the audience to be able to understand. Naturally, you want to side with Una and not really want to hear Ray's side because of what he's done, but the way the character is portrayed, you can't help but be drawn in to listen to his side. I even caught myself feeling sorry for him as much as I did her, even though there was no excuse whatsoever for what he did. You just can't ignore either side.
