The other reason you don't throw rice anymore is that birds will eat it. It swells in their stomachs and kills them. A lot of people use birdseed though.
 
Please tell me you didn't go with the Elvis impersonator. All the truly chic hold out for the Ozzie Ozbourne impersonator. You get to drink complimentary bat's blood while waiting for him to remember the lines to the ceremony.
