"Time of Your Death" Discussion **Beware Spoilers**

To be blunt, you know what pisses me off? When everyone just jumps to one conclusion. Some people (not all) are all like "It's getting to Soap Opera like! ahh!". I mean c'mon. Let's see.. Throughout the seasons there have been many episodes with character flirtations. Examples: 4x4, King Baby, Lady Heather's Box, Butterflied, or Rashomama

Just because there is some glances from Grissom and Sara doesn't mean all other ships are screwed. I mean yeah it's a possibility that GSR could come true but anything could happen. Hell, it's CSI!

For the most part though i have to admit like others this episode was quite boring.

Just wondering what did Grissom say in Korean?

Dang! And I thought the Suns - Lakers series was turning into a snarkfest... (J/K, calm down...)

Seriously, all this artillery fire over The Glances makes me want to just walk away from this thread - but I'm not going to do so until I mention how freaking WONDERFUL Archie, Greg, Doc Robbins and Hodges all were. Man, oh man, did their quips ever make this episode for me! Archie, butt falling asleep and him not getting Grissom's "Ishmael" reference, Hodges making pool sound pornish, Doc's pharmaceutical musing about his wedding night, and Greg...I just love the guy! Birthday breakfast? Now THAT would be a must-see scene... Lab rats attendance mandatory...

Also enjoyed the guest cast...I kinda wish the storyline had been more up to their potential...

As you were...::ducks behind handy wall, dons fireproof suit::

I actually loved the birthday conversation.

Cath's comment about latex, etc and Greg's reply "Nah, that was last year."

Priceless!!!

Umm, Destiny, are you going to say something about Ship bashing? I expect fairness here, there have been 3 posts in a row with bashing in it now.
Okay, People Stop Bashing Ships! *No I am not being flip about it*. ;)

Look in all fairness the only "SHIP" that should be discussed is the one that pertains to this episode, No other ship should be in discussion, thats what Shipper central is for.

While I do not agree with the bashing of it, I see people giving opinions based on the ep and if that includes saying they dislike a ship that is their opinion, you can agree or disagree with it. As long as they are not attacking other members all I can do is ask nicely for them to please stop.

If this seems unfair or as if I am not being fair, I am sorry anyone feels this way. If you would like to further discuss this please feel free to pm me.

^I like ships...big ships, little ships..even the big one that they made a movie about in 1997..oh yeah..the TITANTIC..

I'm posting this for Hottie Cath:
That's it. The end was soap opera-ish. I should've watched The OC instead.
LMAO! Well I've learned my lesson, and at the rate CSI is going, Im gonna watch The OC's finale instead. :p Don't you think its telling that people found more chemistry between Cath and Hodges and found the scene more pleasant than the other infamous scene?
And look at the ratings..

CSI CBS Thu April 27 9:00 PM 17.1/27.0 - Rashomama (27,365,000 viewers)
CSI CBS Thu May 4 9:00 PM 16.1/25 - Time of Your Death

[They havent published yet the numbers of viewers as of May 4, they will be publishing it at the end of the week, on Sunday or Monday I believe.]
Im no expert in ratings, but I think these figures mean I'm not alone and that lots people didn't like the episode either and they switched channels instead. If CSI will continue this nonsense till the finale, then I believe their ratings would dwindle at a faster rate.

I don't think the ratings indicate anything. It's not like people knew beforehand what was going to happen at the end of the show and decided not to watch it. Ratings flux up and down in any show. Also, I liked both the Hodges / Catherine scene and the infamous scene, even though it was a little more overt than I expected. CSI has had personal stuff on there since the beginning and I think people are overreacting over ten seconds of one episode versus Catherine's dramas over the years. I understand people have different ship preferences and all that but I don't think people reacted the same way when Catherine and Warrick almost kissed last season.

I also think that a slight dip in ratings means nothing. However, I do think that I saw more promos for "Rashomama" than I did for "Time of Your Death." I'm all for a Grissom-Sara pairup so all those meaningful glances were wonderful to me.
I've talked to several CSI viewers who were surprised by the fact that something seems to be "going on" between Grissom and Sara. None of them hate Sara. They don't object to a Grissom-Sara relationship, as long as it doesn't take over the show. Some comment that the relationship has been long delayed.

Oh, don't get me wrong, I liked the ending scene also but I was just a bit surprised how obvious it was. GSR has been the most consistent ship in terms of onscreen moments (IMHO, of course) but it's always been all about the subtle. There was nothing subtle about Grissom's look right before the end credits; it was downright feral.

Hottie Cath, I have to point out that you're comparing the final ratings for last week's episode to only the Fast National Ratings of TOYD. You need to wait for the final ratings to come in (which should be posted on Tuesday) to get the complete picture. Regardless, I'm guessing that even when the final numbers come in, there will be a difference of about 1 million viewers.

In general, ratings have sucked (by CSI standards) during the past few episodes. For example, "Spellbound," "Poppin' Tags," and "The Unusual Suspects," were the lowest rated episodes of the season...in that order. If the final numbers for TOYD push it up to over 26 million viewers, it will be the sixth lowest rated episode of the season.

However, it doesn't really say much given that CSI usually sees a decline in viewership during the spring months. By comparison, the last three episodes leading up to last years finale pulled in 23.7 million, 26.6 million, and 26.2 million, respectively.

CSI isn't the only show that sees a drop in it's viewership during the spring. Ratings are below average for a lot of Top 10 shows right now...Desperate Housewives, Lost, Without A Trace, CSI Miami...even American Idol's number's are down from what they were during the winter (it used to pull in 30-35 million viewers a week...now about 28 million).

Having said that, I thought TOYD was ok, but not as good as last week's. I'm tired of having only one case that everybody works. Back when they had two or three cases, you had more character interaction, saw more of the characters in general, and if one case was dull, the other sometimes compensated for it. I'm really looking forward to the two-part finale, though.

Amen to that Fabian :)

Who are this people saying the show is getting too soapy?
This episode was far from soap opera like.
No drama around the characters. It just seems to me like people who dislike GSR suddenly think it's getting too soapy...I never heard anything about this after Cath/Warrick's almost kiss in 'Down the Drain', or their conversation in 'Bodies in motion', Grissom/Lady H in 'Lady Heather's Box' to name a few.
These were just a few glances, for God's sake.

Anyway, the case itself was average, but I loved the chemistry between Grissom and Sara in this episode.
No dialogue needed.

Keep in mind also, the NBA playoffs are probably eating into all the prime time shows' ratings right now, and Thursday night it was Suns vs Lakers, a very hot matchup (only matchup in the first round to go the full seven games). I wouldn't be surprised to see the ratings for "CSI" jump a little for the finale, and the second round starts this weekend so you'll only have half as many games going on.

Just a possible mitigating factor...

I agree with everyone thinking the case was a little so-so. The promo announcing that the final four episodes would remind us all why we love CSI so much. So far I think they are doing a great job and they have a plan.

Rashomama - To remind us that CSI can be really funny. The recollections were an interesting way to show some very funny scenes (the drunk dude and Greg's...um...narrative).
Anyone who likes the funny comments in CSI got an early Christmas gift with this one.

Time Of Your Death - To remind us of two things: The show takes place in Vegas, and weird things happen to weird people. Finding buried 'aliens', grown men dressing as babies. Honestly, this show is weird and you gotta love that.
The other thing. GSR. Anyone who watches the show in hopes that the producers will toss some lovin' in there got there wish in a huge way. The looks at the end of the episode were killer.

Bang Bang - Hasn't aired yet, but hopes to prove that the show has characters that we care about and will put us on the edge of our seats until the next episode Way to Go.
