This is also Stella's POV and I think it could resemble what she felt back in the day when Mac still had Claire (assuming she, Stella, had already been in love with him back then...) That song is quite heartbreaking but very beautiful.

I dunno... could be. I'm quite sure she's always loved him but I don't know if she was IN love ;) I guess we'll never know... anyway, I thought about it again and I think maybe the song reflects more on the time when he was with Peyton! Because of the line "and do you love her" - clearly he loved Claire but he never loved Peyton, Mac really couldn't fool me into believing he did ;) Sorry but seeing how uncomfortable he seemed to feel around her... everything always seemed so forced with her... there really was no chemistry at all!

Okay this song reflects the emotions Mac has towards two women he loves, one was Claire, other is Stella and how he's torn between them ,trying to do the right thing. Even though Claire is gone I do believe he carries her in his heart.
