The photos of the day!

wolfegamergirl
+ Interesting concept and I like what you were aiming for
- Neither the bag nor the candy is in focus and the blurriness of the bag takes away from the photo.

Showtime
+ I love the way the eye seems to follow the line of glare in the water to the right of the picture.
- That little dark speck in the water, as miniscule as it is, remains quite distracting.

Another photo from the desert from me today: Dead tree by sunset

Showtime
+ The clouds do well to help move the eye around the photo.
- The dark spot is distracting and the horizon line isn't straight.

Btw the candy is in focus and the bag is supposed to be out of focus.

+ I'm really loving your nature photos, makes it feel like I'm there.
- The sun flare in the middle is distracting and the sun bleaches out the hills in the background.

Here's one I took the other day when my friend was being creative.

wolfesgamergirl
+ The placing of the hand is nice and I like the even spacing of the beads
- I wish the hand and the desk weren't cut off and the colours feel a little bleached.

And the horizon is actually straight - the blown out water on the right/the angle of the wave crests make it look slanted but it has actually been digitally straightened. :p

Showtime
Flower my kind of picture
+ Love the colors, nice and tight composition.
- The flower is not crisp sharp; did you add a filter to it? Making some part of the flower nice and sharp would make it better.

Mine for today, another zoo one, I like animals if you can't tell

Whether it's digitally altered or not isn't the point. When a ruler is held up to the photo and there is still a slant up on the left side, it's not straight.

+ A very nice slice of life type photo, capturing an aminal doing thier normal activites.
- Perhaps zooming in would have helped, there is a rock in the lower left corner that is distracting. More focus on the elephant would have make it better, I think.

Random still life taken at a resturant last night.

i love it Wolfsgamergirl my only complaint is: i dont know if the cup was supposed to be the main focus? but it is very blurry and kind of takes away from the rest of the picture in my opinion. but then again everybody can find anything wrong with any picture if they look hard enough. :)i know were only supossed to put 1 pic on but im leaving tomorrow for a mini vacation and wanna get these 2 on here so here goes...
Me And My Cousin
*we were playing with silver powder*
Mee.
^ last time i showed that one people said i kind of looked like Jessica Collins =( lol

+ I admire you for your creativity in composition and subject. I like the idea of this picture, the cup as the frame looking in to the salt and pepper.
- Watch your focus, even though the salt and pepper are more in focus than the cup they are still not completely sharp. Maybe if you had the camera sitting on something to reduce any chance of shake.

+ Good composition, good soft lighting.
- Try using a tripod; the picture is kind of blurry.

Mine for today
Peacock

For some reason this site is doing something wierd and I can't get the small picture, you will have to be happy with the word only.

It's not a shake that I produced, the camera is just a poor quality pos. Don't have the money to get a new one and Photoshop can only do so much.

Amy777
+ Very vibrant colors and nice placement/composition.
- The focus is on the bird's head, might have been better if the focus was on the feathers. Must betterfeature of the bird, imo.

This is part of the huge dessert plate that 5 of us shared the other night before seeing Avenue Q (Broadway Musical for those who might not know).

Wolfesgamergirl, in your last shot the camera just didn't know which part to focus on. Defining the subject would have helped (theres an infinity setting that might have fixed that, kind of the opposite of the macro setting).

+ This showcases your understanding of the rule of thirds
- The plate and meringue(?) are blown out. Turning off flash and resting the camera on the table is a solution.

I knew exactly which part I was focusing on, the photo is the way it is because that's what I wanted. I have no such settings on my camera so no idea what that is. About the dessert picture...there was no flash that is from a light that was above the table.

Showtime
+ Interesting concept and nice nudge at a nature photo.
- The fog is making everything cloudy. And the random brust of color from the sky is very distracting from the rest of the duller colors.

Random photo from dinner tonight.

Please don't be so hostile, I'm merely making suggestions according to the settings that come on the majority cameras. The experience I've had with Kodak C340s is minimal but much better than I thought, certainly not as terrible as you're describing. Blaming the camera is a cheap move ... even disposable cameras can take impressive photos.

+ I like the composition and lighting. The shadow is soft so it doesn't take away from the picture.
- Out of focus to the extent that one can't tell what the subject even is.

I'm not being hostile merely explaining, you're the one assuming that I am. I'm also not blaming the camera it's simply not a good camera. Also doesn't have many options to begin with, but I have no money to buy a new one. Perhaps you could ask before assuming things about words on a screen.

If I see a subject that would make an interesting photo I'm going to take it on the spot. Fiddling with limited settings makes the chances of a great photo slimmer as time passes. I don't do photography to please or appeal to others, I do it because I'm passionate about it.

The subject is ice, though it's in focus on this end. Perhaps checking the moniter settings might help.

Showtime
+ Neat picture, it has the feeling of stepping back in history 30-40 years. Good composition, good centering of the subject.
- The only thing I can say, it would have been nice to see a worker, or a person coming to the window, just adding a little bit of human interest to an otherwise really neat photo.

Mine for today. Yes another animal. I only have a couple more and then I will go back to flowers. If you can't tell I like to take pictures of flowers and animals the most.

Wolfsgamergirl, I totally understand inexpensive camera that does not have all the bells and whistles and no money to buy a better camera. I am dealing with the same thing here. Do you still have the manual to your camera? I keep finding settings on my camera that I did not know it had. Every once in a while I re-look at my manual and lo and behold I learn something new. Is not the purpose of this thread to learn from each other? Please don't take it personally when someone can see something different in you picture that you did not see. I know it is hard to take criticism of the art that you created with grace; I struggle with the same thing. If you do not have your manual still if you PM me what camera you have I know someone who knows cameras well and could point me in the right direction to look for help with that particular camera. I have also been learning some "cheats" with my inexpensive camera, maybe I could pass some of those on to you. If you would like some help, I would be happy to give you some pointers that I have found that are more for the camera. PM if you have any interest in this. I know I have learned many things from others.

Sent you a pm Amy, thanks again for the offer. :)

+ Definetly a fan of the animal photos. The coloring works well and the marcipual looks like they are posing for you.
- The weed that's covering the body is distracting, but again zoo environments are be tricky.

Here's mine for today. I was out for a walk with friends after coffee last night and we came across a resturant with lights in the floral surroundings.
