The Fort for Nick?greg slash fans #19

All this talk about NG and the finale made me write a post-episode fic. It's T so I can post the link here.

http://www.fanfiction.net/s/4269964/1/Full_Circle

To add my 2 cents:

- on the toothpick - Nick talking with a toothpick in his mouth wasn't as bad as his pornstache, but ick.

- on Nick snapping at Greg 'What's that supposed to mean?!' I absolutely LOVED that moment. It sounded like a line he had snapped at Greg before in a silly domestic tiff and propped them as a couple to me. LOL

Well, I'm supposed to be working on this story ya'll are waiting for... but other things keep getting me distracted. Like The Fort... lol. I'm just glad I'm not the only one who hated that stupid toothpick. You know, I don't mean this to be rated anything past T... but in the movie War (with Jet Li) the one character claims that the other has an "oral fixation" which is why he smokes. Thus, the character instead picks up the habit of chewing on a toothpick. Could Nick have an oral fixation? Just a random thought that came to mind a few seconds ago.

Maggs, thanks for the link! I'll be checking that out! See, another thing keeping me from my story, but with anything by you, it's well worth it! lol...

And yeah, I didn't catch on to The Love until about a year and a half ago, and never saw the subtext until I joined The Fort and people started to pick it out. So, now that I'm getting the DVDs I'm having to go back and rewatch all these eps, and what do you know? It's there! Plain as day! wow. hehehe. The Love really has been there since day one. Who woulda thought?

Ah, well, I must get on with my day. You want a story, since I missed posting last weekend, and I'll get you one. I promise! ttyl!

An oral distraction eh?? Very interesting... I think our Nicky may indeed have an oral distraction . . . . . .

I always noticed the subtext was more than just like random, but never really thougt OMG until I rewatched a couple of earlier episodes then came on this thread.

Now I have finally seen the finale all the way through...my god...I was gutted, even though I knew exactly what was going to happen. My mum just laughed (about Warrick) and said 'you know, he's not really dead, don't you?' - there is a complete failure to understand there...she does not get emotionally attached to characters like I do. oh well.

Lynn - re Hodges - I actually thought that scene was really cute, of course it should have been Greg, but since it couldn't be Greg (too much subtext for TPTB to handle) I was kind of glad it was Hodges, I like him :p

- on the toothpick - Nick talking with a toothpick in his mouth wasn't as bad as his pornstache, but ick.

Yep, and yep! toothpick...what...why??? I don't quite understand why anyone thought 'I know, let's have Nick chew on a toothpick in this scene'

I too loved the scene where the 4 of them sit around the table and Greg has to say all the things no one else wants to. I think he's brave because everyone else was thinking them, just could not bring themselves to say out loud. Nicky's reaction did seem a little 'domestic' and I liked it! He was the only one to really call Greg on what he said as well, I noticed.

I'm going to go read your fic, too, right now :)

I'm not worried about this waitress, on second viewing she was hardly even there, a nothingness. The Love will defeat you, red-haired wench!

Caff - that picture is fantastic - they look..well...you can see how they look, but do you also notice the expression on Sara's face, as if she's thinking 'oh, I see...I know what's going to happen here!' It's what my little mind imagines she is thinking, anyway. Maybe she is one of the first to know. I always think it would be Catherine but maybe not?

I definitely loved eric/george before i loved nick/greg. and seriously dislike cbs for letting neither of them publicly bloom, but i digress. I think this may have been the straw that broke my unlove for the love camel's back...

I mean come on, subtext be damned, that is blatant and so not an accident. I've been rewatching the first couple seasons and can't believe all of the subtext i didn't catch, even seeing them a bunch of times. I, in my heart of hearts, hope that tptb will ease up and let something happen, but reality says they won't. but at least we'll have subtext, and if you're like me i think the real story begins once the show ends for good...but that's just me.

Welcome to the Fort Caff! Hope you like it here but then who doesn't love some boy-loving, right ;)

Love that screencap! It almost looks like, you know  But I can't remember which episode it's from, and that keeps bugging me! So if you know, please tell me. Look at how playful Greg looks.

I found N/G clips on my laptop and rewatched that scene from Viva Las Vegas (S5) in which Greg introduces his replacement to Nick who's filthy having searched a car. Anyway as you all know Nick's about to head over to the showers and for the first time I saw Greg's grin! I mean I watched that episode at least 10 times and I always looked for it but today I finally saw it. Wow that grin could light the entire city! And it was definitely not a I'm-so-happy-that-I-finally-found-a-replacement grin, now it was a direct response to Nick!!:devil: Maybe someone can post a screencap? Pretty please?? :)

Caff, I also didn't notice all the subtext from the start so I "had" to rewatch earlier episodes and once you know it's there, it's like "how could I ever miss it"! I mean, honestly, the two of them were flirting from S1 onwards.

The first thing i went to when i found out about the love was the anal swabs quote. I mean, nick and warrick's first lines? They talk about betting on who's going to get CSI 3 first, but him and greg? anal swabs, then quickly switch to 'guy stuff'.

and yes that episode is chaos theory. and if it's not perfect subtext, I don't know what it.

I watched that s5 clip and i see what you see!

opafyq.png

his 'pleased with his replacement' face.

Cut to nick talking about going into the shower, but back to greg and...

2cqg0ev.png

An obvious natural, now pleased with visions of nick scrubbing up smile. they can't help themselves.

2m3mrk8.png

but then he goes to more of a loving grin at his bb.

Oh my goodness, you must write more and quick!

It's cute and angsty at the same time. And I love Greg persuading Nick into things that will end up lovely and possibly smutty for us.

^^ So many naughty thoughts when you mention 'oral distraction'.

^^ I love that scene and the first episode always makes me laugh cause near the end they talk about nipples. So many naughty thoughts. Heres the dialogue.

Greg (Holding a swab Nick gave him): So this is it, huh? The 8,000 dollar Q-Tip.
Nick: Well, you're the chemist. I just need to know what knocked the
old man out.
Greg: In 20 seconds, this'll give us a complete chemical breakdown
right down to the atom. But, I've got to warn you, oral swabs don't always read right. Vaginal swabs? No problem. Anal swabs? Money.
Nick: Anal swabs?
Greg: Anal swabs. (Pauses and sits down) Ouch.

And a screen cap, from their very first scene together.

caff- Great caps of 'Viva Las Vegas'. That scene makes me all kinds of happy. Sweaty and dirty Nicky= Very happy Greggo.

Maggs- Thanks for the link and I hope you write more very soon. Its great.

Thanks Caff, that's exactly the pic I was talking about!!! Look it his grin, it's a bit dirty, isn't it!

And thanks Blackflag and Caff, I haven't watched Chaos Theory in a while, must do that soon.

I hope there will be a lot more N/G interaction next season. As sad as I am about Warrick, it gives the boys more time to work cases together, especially since only one new CSI is coming in.

Hopefully it doesn't take too long for the DVD release because I'm so sick and tired to wait for CSI to be shown on TV, we're not even done with S7, can you believe that??? Anyway, I'm so looking forward to all the good N/G scenes, like A La Cart and Bull, I bet they're even better watching them in context!

Wow, the subtext in those smiles... Those looks are too much:devil: I think I may watch Chaos Theory tonight, or maybe Slaves of Las Vegas, I like that ep for Nick/Greg, liquid latex... enough said

Nope I agree with you... Anyways, that picture oh my days, does that not just leak the love? As always Sara god love her acts the beard. I know Nick is standing just a little to the left, but oh come on.... Subtext baby!!

Nick has eyes for Greg, Greg has eyes for Nick... I mean the position... Hello... :bolian::guffaw::drool:

Edit, i was re-watching that scene, in the diner between Nick Greg and Warrick. When Warrick says to Nick are you still there, he was watching Nick very closely, do you think that he could see that Nick's true feelings was laying not very far away from his feet?

When Warrick taps Nick on the arm, saying, "you still there?", did you all notice that as soon as Nick looked back at Warrick Greg looked up. Its clear that Nick is deep in thought about Greg, which has made me believe that they're not together, but Nick longs to be with Greg... The look Nick gives Greg as that waitress leaves them is priceless. A look of love and of things unsaid...

That final episode, that final scene, had more of the actors feelings than the characters.

Interesting, because I am always torn between the idea that they are already in a relationship or that they just want each other but have yet to admit their feelings...I can never decide which it is or which I like better, i think it depends on my mood or which epi I'm watching. The way Greg smiles is almost like he knows Nick wants him and not that waitress, but he is just waiting patiently because he knows Nick will pluck up the courage to tell him soon. *sigh*

Even though it was desperately sad because I knew what was coming, I loved that final scene where we got to see each character one by one, all sort of slowed down and thoughtful. It was that kind of thing I pictured when I was talking about Warrick's funeral *gulp* and how they could show Nick reaching out for Greg almost unconsciously. Maybe...even...after thinking about the diner scene, that could be the defining moment. Instinctive reaching out for comfort from the man he loves because he is too broken up about Warrick to care that Greg might reject him, or whatever. (Of course, he wouldn't!) Am I thinking too much again?

Hmm...on a lighter note...Bubbles - you just reminded me how much I love the liquid latex moment, thanks! :p

Sorry it's a little delayed but Maggs, I loved your fic! I'm feeling a little unsure about this one so, as usual, here it is for your perusal:

Thanks as always for potential reading of my ramblings.

^^ I see both view points. Its really hard to say if the boys are in a relationship or they are just pining after each other. I truly think Warrick knew about their feelings for each other. and we come back to him providing a beard for his friend so the other members of the team don't suspect or whatever. George and Eric's chemistry on screen just blows me away every time, I think thats big part of the subtext of the love. I'm gonna have a huge crying fest if they show Warrick's funeral next season. But I will be happy if the writers grow a pair and use it to canon the LOVE.

Sara's Girl
- I love your ramblings, angst always gets me teared eyed.

I tend to think of them as already having a relationship, else i can't really justify 8 years of flirting and all the life&death situations they've found themselves in and to still have not done anything about their feelings. I'd like to think neither of them are that obtuse :guffaw:

More than that, i think i love watching episodes and imagining them going home and being together, talking about cases and gossiping about work in bed.

Then again, i'd always imagined that Warrick knew about them at this point, and although i haven't seen the final episode, its probably going to be a bit difficult to reconcile that with the belief that he knows.

Oh TPTB and their plot devices causing all these problems!

As to how close Greg and Warrick were, i was watching No Humans Involved again the other night. I'd forgotten about Warrick ringing Greg to check he was alright after finding the kid and nearly getting shot. They were quite friendly in that ep, so i'd like to think they're good friends, just not quite as close as Warrick and Nick.

Now just to figure out how Nick & Greg managed to keep their relationship hidden from Warrick....

You see I actually am not sure about whether they are actually in a relationship. I haven't watched any of season 8, but I think that the subtle looks and flirting up until season 7 doesn't necessarily show to me that they're in a relationship. Obviously, from what I've heard season 8 has a bit of the boys suggesting they are in a relationship, but up until then, I'm not sure...

I do however, think that whatever their relationship is, Warrick does/did know about Nick's feelings, as they are best friends, and from what I've heard from the finale, Warrick did appear to know.

If they aren't in a relationship though, then I wouldn't necessarily would think of them as obtuse lol, but i don't know, maybe they just think they are seeing the others feelings, like they want it so much they are seeing things sort of (obviously they're not though).

And they'd both rather keep things as they are than risk the friendship, except maybe in the finale, Nick realises maybe it's worth the risk, from the longing looks those photos show.

Well looking at it from your point of view, eight years is a long time, but remember if your dealing with your sexuality as well, then eight years can seem like a dip in the ocean. I know gay or bi people that it has taken them years and I mean years to come out....

Everyone is different, but as this is TV land.... LOL Dont be suprised thought that Nick and Greg havent even gone past first base yet.

(I'm so liking that idea!)

I think that Catherine knows of Nicks sexuality, look in that episode Drops? Catherine was smearking at Nick's butt action lol.

http://i80.photobucket.com/albums/j166/smartgirl1/DO30.jpg

The scene opens with Catherine smirking down at Nick.

Sara had her suspicions about Greg from early on, but in the diner scene "Declaration of love" Sara not only smirks at Greg, but she also grins at Nick... As if to say "yeah boys i know, just get it on allready!)

However this

and this

fg1.jpg

speaks volumes, that maybe just maybe both men have reached an understanding....

Both men might be frightend in declaring their love for each other.... It can and does happen even in the gay and bisexual community...

YES Bubbles I can see what your saying... Maybe they're in denial of thier own feelings, but they know about the other man's love.

But regardless look at the the final picture, if thats not love then i dont know what is.

Regarding season eight... Well Bubbles, I dont know... Maybe TPTB want us to keep on guessing about their status, but are keen on us to know their sexuality.

There is a few love moments, or love scenes or even episodes... Bull comes to mind, A LA Cart is another one... When both men test their theory of the murder with Grissoms help... Sad that in A la Cart, all three love shippers was present... The love, GSR and YOBlin!

This season I would say and season One and two were the strongest love scenes to date.
