The Football Thread #4 - It Is Not Soccer

Today was the U-20 quarter final between Austria and the USA.
and Austria won 2:1! :eek:
our boys are so great.

The next opponent could be Spain or Czech Republic.
and then, maybe final? :lol:
Hm, let's wait and see.
 
I saw Spain playing against Brazil and dang they were good :eek:

Could be cool tho if some "not big football country" got to the finals :D
 
^ hehe this would be great :D i like some others team wich don`t make it more then 1/4 finlas like Czech Republic or Croatia..

btw few month ago i watch England vs Brazil frieds game (open new Wembley stadium )... not bad at all for both teams . but Beckham ruin my fun...

anyhow aren`t today Copa America final : Brazil vs Argentina ?! :rolleyes: (16.07.07 0.05 am my time ) have to be interesting

The Czech Republic beat Spain today. They are a good team and it will be hard to beat them.
Too bad that the game starts at approx. 1 a.m. Too late for me, I have to get up in the morning. :rolleyes:

and yep Copa America is not good at all like time zone for European football fans. we have re runs on my tv, but in the morning 10-11 am - work time :( .... ehhh i still remember time ago WC '94 in USA - coz my country play then most of ours games start at 3.0 am my time... aww - what sacrifice can make u do the love to this game;) if i don`t make mistake we have the same problem and with Japan time zone..

First I have to say I don't like Brazil...and I don't like Argentina. But still wanted Argentina to win...because I hate Brazil more. I started here also around midnight (showed on Canal+) and I was still awake because I watched Athletics Grand Prix in Sheffied on Eurosport but nah... I mean... The reason I've watched Copa America games is because it's very beautiful playing.
 
i agree that at some points European football is not so beautiful like in Copa America. ;)

re Brazil vs Argentina this was great game to watch :D what a final hehe - there is no need to like some of this teams u have just to enjoy the game. i can`t deny that as a whole Argentina play better this Copa America 07. they win all theirs games, but what happen in the final i just don`t know. it was like they are new different team - they don`t have any luck, and was so pitiful most of the game. but this wasn`t reason this match to be so fast and interesting - i wish most of WC or CL finals to be this style football *sigh* . I know that Brazil will make it in the end but not with 3:0 result. they lose the fisrt game with Mexico and after this have some more problems re Uruguai... of course theirs team was without some great players like Kaka or Ronaldinho and most of the guys are young new players , but they still prove that Brazil is Brazil hehe

btw can i ask one silly question what is U-20 ?! :rolleyes:
 
U20 means the age... I mean it's "under 20"

...or I think it means that :p

I think U19 European Championships start soon but why they have U19 and U20 - dats strange. Much easier in athletics, when there's U17, U19 and U22 :p

if i don`t make mistake we have one very talented player and he play for our U 20 age team also and for ours man team... wow hope this make sense :p

The U19 European Championship started today and it takes place in Austria.
It seems that the U19 team isn't as succesful as the U20 team. Spain is their first opponent and the score is at the moment 2:0. :(
but it isn't a big surprise.
 
I think Finland has been...it was either U19 or U20 but don't remember which one and what kind of cup.. it was held in Finland tho :p

The only one we can actually get anywhere and be good is women's football :lol: :lol:
 
Well at least you are good at something, we are just naff all round :rolleyes:

Excited about new EPL season though. I really want to see Torres play for us, as well as Babel and others, was like this last season as well thugh and look what happened :eek:
 
But seriously...think how many Finns are playing out there and are top players in their teams. Hyypiä, Kolkka, Eremenko (now also the younger brother) Perparim Hetemaj (don't remember where his family is from, that name is just plain hard to write), Johansson, Forssel, Kuqi (two of 'em), Pasanen, Tainio, Väyrynen, Jääskeläinen ...and of course Litmanen when not injured!

And then as a team we suck :rolleyes:

I was supposed to be at that game :(.

I want either Chile or Argentina to win the U-20 championship. Spain was my first choice but they're out :(.

Woo hoo! Greece beat Portgual 1-0 in the U-19. Group A is really, really similar to the group A of Euro 2004. There was Greece, Portugal & Spain & instead of Russia, it's Austria. Freaky :eek:.

The Czech Republic beat us 2:0.
I have to say that the Czech Republic was simply better and it was our worst game.

I hope that Austria will win the third place. :D
IMO they would deserve it. :p
