The Fanfic Writers Thread

OOOOHH I like this thread,
I'm Heather
I wrote three fics so far, I think I actually posted here
I'm not into the GSR, but I like Sara so I wrote a fic about it :D
I wrote one slighty leaning towards Sara/Nick
and one about Grissom and Lady Heather
I am currently working on one about Catherine
I'm finding that one harder because I don't know that much about her...
And I also have writers block,
Don't you HATE IT
I know how I want my current story to end, it's just "filling in the middle" that's the hard part
any suggestions?

What's the story about? It's easier to fill in the middle of you know the rest ;)

BTW, Very rude of me for not introducing myself.

ANNE (the insane one) or Drumchik.

I write G/C fics and am one half of the Terror Twins.

Another Ann! *shakes hand* Hello Anne, I'm Ann :D  *that was awkward!*

I write any ship I feel like it, I'm not picky. I've written GSR, NS, WS, WC, Greg/Sara, G/LH and CS slash :p

ok, actually my story is about Catherine and Det. Vartann, there is a ship thread about them and I was inspired to write something :)
He is somewhat easier because he is mysterious, it's easy to fill in the blanks, kinda like Grissom ( at least for me anyway)
I was wondering if anyone else had that same problem, knowing how you want your story to end, but not knowing how to get there?

*huggles Jenna* I hear ya, girl

*huggles Ann* Thanks for the huggles and the advice. I really appreciate it. :)

Drabble fic? Give me a Lady Heather/Catherine friendship drabble ;) Maybe set after PotTR

Great idea! I just finished it and will be posting it briefly, as soon as I finish correcting it. :D

I have this problem all the time too, Heather. Sometimes it takes me days to figure out a good ending. It always ends up coming to me when I'm in weird places, like out at Walmart. Or especially when I'm somewhere where I cannot write down my idea.

I don't think I posted any of my fics on here. My penname at ff.net is Tarzje. I've written a non-romance CSI:Miami fic. And a lot of CSI, it's all slash though. (Cath/Sara, Sara/Sofia, Sofia/Wendy, Sara/OC)
Right now I'm writing a non-romantic fic which I might post on here when it's done. I really long for constructive criticism :p

You know what? I rarely know how a story is going to end. In fact, I didn't even know that The Retreat was going to be GSR, until I got to the cliff, and started writing that particular part... it was Grissom's turn to open his mouth (only because he hadn't said anything in awhile), and voila, instant GSR.

So to answer your question, yup, I betcha a lot of people can't get to the endings of their stories. There are many things that you could do... two of the things that I do are just start writing, and see where it takes you, and taking a breather, until your block goes away (which can be stressful, if you're sitting there wondering why words aren't entering your brain for the next chapter).
So... as dumb as this sounds (and I should take my own advice!), breathe! It'll happen! :).

*cough* After writing that paragraph, the weirdest image just popped into my head... writing fanfic is like giving birth (which I've never done, so I can't really make this analogy!). It can just be very painful, and yet very rewarding!

One way I overcome writer's block is to assign a theme song or a soundtrack for my fics. So, whenever I need to be in the mood to write, I just play the designated tracks and hopefully it'll motivate me to write.

I wouldn't say so much of giving birth when it comes to writing, but more like playing god *grins*. You get to pick the weather, the way things happen, and etc. But the best part about fic writing is how the story takes a life of its own and somehow, things and events start falling into place suddenly.

Hi, I'm Ash. I started a fic here before a few months ago but I had to go away or my computer crashed and had to wait for a new one which took forever and then there was a death in the family close to me and I just didn't have the enthusiasm to write, and it went *poof*, disappeared. But I am going to start it again once I write it. I find that with everything going on and that could go on in one's life that, even though it may be a lot of work at one part at the beginning, writing it all before posting it helps with quicker updates, no stress about trying to write it to make a quick update, the chapters are always there, etc.

I've also found that creating a soundtrack or themesong for your fic is a great way to get inspired. Speaking of that, it's funny because I just found a song off the CSI soundtrack that would fit absolutely marvelous for an ending I thought up in my head for a fic here I'm reading.

Thanks everyone, I actually starting thinking about the ending in bed last night, but it was too late to get up and write, so I am inspired to finish. I did write another story and it took me a while to finish ( like two months) and I kept getting "pieces" of it in the oddest places like driving, etc.. or when my kids were doing their lessons, I'd write mine too
and Zan1781 , I have given birth, twice and it is rewarding but a different experience :)

and if anyone is interested I have posted the links to my stories in the Fiction Addiction thread

Alright, alright, birth is a bad example, I admit :). It's definitely much more rewarding to give birth than to write a story. I just have birth on my mind (my best friend keeps talking about Food For the Heart, and Jorja Fox's role in that movie).

So yup!
