Don't worry, it's fine. I mean if you put up your icons on LiveJournal or somewhere else where you can list your resources :D

Oh right...I haven't updated my Lj in ages, it's too complicated for me. It takes too long to put all icons up...but I kinda credited you in Misc with my Shark icons ;)

Alright, actually I wanted to wait with an explanation about how to set up your signature banner till we got clear informations about the allowed file size for sig banners, but there's nothing new yet.

So here we go!

There are two ways to put up banners now.

#1:

--> Screenshot: *click for full size*: [IMG]

Go to your UserCP--> under "Settings and Options" click on "Edit Signature" and scroll down till you read: Signature Picture
There are two possibilities to upload your banner: Option 1 requires that you upload your banner to the Internet first, to pages like Photobucket or ImageShack, and then insert the URL-code you get into the box.
Using Option 2 you don't need to upload the picture to the Internet, you just browse your personal files on you PC, choose the banner you want to use and voilá. ;)

IMPORTANT: in order to use one of these options you have to keep an eye on the file size of your banner! It must not be bigger than 9,8 KB, otherwise you'll get an ERROR message! (and though it's described different, the allowed picture size is 220x75px only, NOT 450x100px!)

Your banner is bigger than 9,8KB and you could scream for not being able to upload it? No problem, just check out way

#2:

Again, go to your UserCP and click on Edit Signature.
For this opting you need to upload your banner to Photobucket, ImageShack or similar first!
For the following steps I used a screenshot, otherwise I might confuse you even more with my complicated explanations ;)

*click on the pictures for full size*

Last but not least: always remember to click on the "Save Signature" button! :D

This way you'll be able to upload banners that are bigger in their file size, it's even unlimited, but PLEASE: don't misuse it, keep the file sizes as small as possible! Animated banners normally are about 60-100 KB and non-animated about 20 KB - keep this in mind! ;)

Phew, I guess that's it. Any more questions? Don't hesitate to ask, either in this thread or via pm. :)

I have an icon question: Can someone tell me why pretty much any icon I make becomes grainy? Its either grainy after sharpening/resizing or its grainy after uploading to photobucket. Thanks in advance for any help :)

are you saving it in GIF format? GIF usually makes the icon grainy, while PNG does not. the quality in PNG is basically the same as JPG but it has twice less kb.

or it could be the editing program you are using that is the problem. what do you have?

I hope I can ask this question. If not, I'm sorry!

Does anyone know how to get a snippet of video in an icon? I'd like to make one, but haven't been able to figure it out yet.

Any ideas?

Thanks!

natty is right, Elsie made some lovely tutorials about that - or at least about animations. You can find her first one on the first page of this thread, just click here, perhaps it will help you.

The other one should also be found somewhere in this thread, I'll check it out. :)
ETA: got it! The second one can be found here -->clickadiclack

Thanks Natty and Cinegirl, I really appreciate and I'm going to try the tutorial.

I should've known that this was asked before, but let's face it, I was being lazy.

Thanks again!

How do you post a large image as a thumbnail, so that when clicked on you can see it in it's full size?
