"The Case of the Cross-Dressing Carp" Discussion *SPOILERS*

Re: "The Case of the Cross-Dressing Carp" Discussion *SPOILE

S_Bright, the dumbing down of the eppy as you said, the reason it seems predictable, do you remember a little movie called Erin Brockovich? The water case is just like that Hinkley thing and coincidently, Marg was in that..anyway, gotta go to work.. :(

Re: "The Case of the Cross-Dressing Carp" Discussion *SPOILE

that was a fun episode. After season 7, we need more lighter ones...

Anyway, it's great to see Greg acting like himself again.
the cases were interesting enough.

Is it just me or does Ronnie talk even more then Greg used to? LOL I can see why she drives Sara nuts. Oh well. :p

And that prosepal was so Grissom, even if you aren't a GSR fan. And the scene was maybe thirty seconds long. Funny how that's all the promo's showed.

They are ripping a lot of shows off these days. There is really nothing new with CSI, is there? Such a pity.

Re: "The Case of the Cross-Dressing Carp" Discussion *SPOILE

The thing is, there is great concern about xenoestrogenous compounds getting into the water supply from sources like certain detergents, urine from women on estrogen and so forth, and their effect on males of many species. There have been some noticible shrinkages in the males of some reptiles and fish due to this problem.

I was shocked Sara said yes to the proposal, though later on she seemed like a deer caught in the headlights as she went through the lab and ran into Hodges. I began to wonder if she was going to die from a bee sting allergy or something.

My late father was a PhD Botanist like Grissom is a PhD Entymologist. He proposed to my mom by one day saing "You know we could get married if you want to." when they were visiting the LSU arboretum. Grissom's proposal was reminiscent of my dad's and when I mentioned it to my mom, she kind of teared up... I guess scientists do things that way... like Reed Richards did with Susan Storm...

Hodges having his nose stuck up Grissom's @$$ really bugs me at time... it smells of a man-crush and it is really creepy! Still, I was glad Grissom gave him the stinky fish and the skunk work to do... just the same, Hodges seemed a bit too eager to do that skunk work!

Overall, an okay episode.

I would rather a longer GSR scene in the eppy than have them get married. It isn't about the length of a scene, but what happens in the 30 seconds.

I don't think Grissom wanting to get married is very Grissom, IMO

Hey, I was just watching the ep again & noticed we have slipped back into the present. When Cath was researching the murder weapon it was bought on Oct. 4th 2007.
I thought this was a very good episode, both cases were engaging, we got all of the team getting a good amount of time on screen, the overall team chemistry was great, & I personally thought the proposal sceen was perfect for Sara & Gilbert. Almost a wedding right there. She was in white & wearing a veil, he took her hand, she said yes. They just forgot to ditch the veil before they kissed.

Re: "The Case of the Cross-Dressing Carp" Discussion *SPOILE

I don't know, I seem to be the odd man out here (figuratively speaking, of course ;) ) but I found the episode overall less than compelling. I actually found myself getting distracted by other things about halfway in- and that's why I stopped watching Miami!

Anyway, neither of the cases was particularly exciting to me. Ironically, I'm not a GSR person at all (in fact I've always been against having it on the show) but I found the awkward little proposal strangely well done. The whole ineptitude of the thing seemed very fitting for the socially challenged Gil Grissom, I thought. And that kiss through the nets was pretty funny too.

Anyway, still not a shipper for those two, but it's not a good indicator for me when the GSR was the most interesting part of the episode for me! However, it almost makes me glad Jorja Fox is leaving the show so we don't have to watch the relationship continue. Almost. ;)

I can't really picture their "wedding-wedding", so I agree. I can picture them as the city hall type. Grissom said about freak shows that all he thinks is, "Glad they're not looking at me" and Sara seems to find weddings cheesy.

So if they had some big, white wedding, I'd probably be disappointed.

Re: "The Case of the Cross-Dressing Carp" Discussion *SPOILE

I found it a really boring episode personally. Maybe it was because I've more important stuff on my mind but I didn't think it was one of CSIs finest.

The body at the casino was such a non-starter. It was just a case so they could give Sara screen-time.

I'm glad you said this Baba because I'm honestly feeling the same way.

I'm not a Shipper. And while I respect those who are, I'm almost glad that Jorja is leaving because I just want this show to start moving on from GSR.

Seriously, If I wanted romance, I'd be watching the other show. Which is what I wound up doing.

Re: "The Case of the Cross-Dressing Carp" Discussion *SPOILE

OMG, OH MY FREAKIN GOD,
Grissom proposed!!!!!!!!!!!!
and Sara said yes!!!!.

GSR fans all over the globe have been waiting for this moment, this piece in time, for 8 freaking years for them to be together forever.
THANK U GOD, ANd writers.

Re: "The Case of the Cross-Dressing Carp" Discussion *SPOILE

I thought it was a great episode CSI was no.1 in the rating again beating Greys so a lot of people must think so as well , I actually like the marriage proposal it was very Gill and Sara i don't think it detracted from the case's and personally I'm devastated Jorja is leaving but I thought we are not supposed to talk about Jorja leaving on this thread there is one specially for that.

Re: "The Case of the Cross-Dressing Carp" Discussion *SPOILE

Incidentally, I'd just like to add...

I in no way meant that the GSR stuff has been that terrible or anything. I think they've kept it to a minimum for the most part and for that I've been grateful, since I'm not generally a shipper. And by saying that I'm almost glad Jorja's leaving because I don't really want to see any more of the relationship, I just mean that I'd prefer not to watch the "What's new with Mr. and Mrs. Grissom this week?" backstory that could potentially start happening in episodes.

Again, for the record, I've found the relationship stuff to have been done tastefully so far, and blessedly understated. While I'll miss Sara, if the only way for it to go from here is either UP or OUT, I'm glad they've gone with OUT- as in we won't be seeing it anymore. And I'm sure all the Fanfiction sites will be seeing a marked increase in the "Life After Marriage" stories anyway!

Re: "The Case of the Cross-Dressing Carp" Discussion *SPOILE

I enjoyed the ep. Glad to see the whole team again. Loved Greg and Lilly! I'm a big Catherine fan so I'm rather worried about what is to come for her. That was some major forshadowing I think!

I give it a 9/10. I would have given it a 10/10 if there was none of the relationship that must not be named.... Sorry to all the GSR fans :(

It's nice to know that as someone who's sort of ship-neutral (which is what I'm taking your responses to indicate - that you don't hate it, but you wouldn't have asked for it) that you can enjoy or at least not mind the scenes.

I agree - I think the majority of peoples' issues with the relationship is not so much in what has been shown, but in that fear of the other shoe dropping. Will they mess it all up and show to much/go too far?

I don't want this huge, white wedding. I don't want a pointless clip of Mr. and Mrs. Grissom romping in bed unless it is leading into the rest of the episode (aka. they get a phone call or something, but even then...) but I do think that a little scene here and there showing the progression is needed.

One of the biggest complaints about Warrick's "marriage" was that it was such a throwaway comment here-and-there kind of thing that it felt useless to even have done it.

I think that they're skating that line well. The interviews with Ecklie were what - maybe a minute each? The scene in the car, maybe two?

I mean, certainly the scene with Catherine and her mother at the beginning of this episode was longer than the bee one, wasn't it?

But it is risky. I think that the advertisers, at least, took it too far with the all-GSR promo, but ratings-wise that seems to have panned out regardless.

Ironically, though, as a GSR shipper the proposal was nice, but it was icing on an already good cake. I thought the episode was well done, and I'm rather confused by people saying it was a rip-off of A Little Murder (which I've seen elsewhere). Hanging and a hate crime? I just don't think there's enough of a comparison to go on. One was suicide, the other murder. One dealt with a disability or a genetic difference, the other with a freak accident.

I mean, in Season 1 they had a boy high on drugs killing his friend, and in Season 3 they had a girl high on drugs killing her friend. I see a much bigger "rip-off" there than here.

In any event, I just enjoyed it. I thought it was well-paced, I liked Greg's return to Kiss-Kiss Bye-Bye and his Raymond Chandler routine.

I'm hoping that after the kind of creaking return to cases that were A La Cart (despite some great team interaction) and Go To Hell (despite a good premise) that this shows the real return to last season's case and storytelling quality.
