Survivor? We Call It Camping ~ Canadian Thread #5

A favourite item to talk on walks these day is the umbrella. You never know when mother nature will let go with some rain.
Yes, although we have tons of thunderstorms here so an umbrella might not be such a good idea. The storm with hail apparently had funnel clouds too. :| We've been getting severe thunderstorm warnings with the chance of tornados a lot.

:wtf: i didnt get hail in my part of london! there was a torrential down pour for like 5 minutes, but then it let up to normal rain. weather is strange...
That's odd! We had torrential down pour for an hour. :wtf:

We've been getting lots of rain in Manitoba too. And there's always tornado warnings for some community or another.

Crazy stuff, I tells ya!

it rained for over an hour, just the torrential bit was about 5 minutes. i even went to a different part of the city (east of adelaide! gasp!) to visit a friend who was working at starbucks, and no hail... must have been really isolated.

meh, it isn't THAT much rain. But i am from Vancouver

We've had more rain this summer than Vancouver :)

Don't forget us Torontoians love to complain about everything from weather to hockey to Mayor Miller to whatever :) And even though I don't live in Toronto I still feel I have a right to complain about Miller. Our store is in Toronto so I pay taxes to the city.

i know  But the amount of rain...that is the key. The rain here is very heavy for short periods of time. In vancouver it could be lightly raining for a good three weeks solid. My aunt moved out there from Montreal, she couldn't handle it, had to leave. Some people find it depressing!

Toronto has a new all time record of rain in the month of July after this morning rain. Toronto has had 193.2mm of rain for July  yup it's been wet. The city is 32mm short of an all time high for rain in the June-August time frame. We can only see what August will bring :)

Toronto has new July rain record

the rain was scary this morning! i drove my brother to work so i could have the car to go to guelph for class, and it was coming down so hard i could barely see! it was also garbage pick up this morning, and some cardboard boxes that were on the curb got blown straight into a cars windshield. i would have freaked out so bad if that happened to me. luckily it cleared up enough for me to get to guelph. but im a real sissy about driving on the 401, and all the water getting kicked up by cars and trucks just made things worse :(

^^ I know right! Glad you were safe. It woke me up at like 8 and I had to go to work at 10:30. It was constantly thundering and the lightening was so loud. But once I got to work the thunder stopped, which meant I had to go in the pool... typical. -_- :p

so did anyone else hear the story of the man who was murdered and decapitated on a greyhound bus in manitoba yesterday?? it was in the paper this morning. that is just highly disturbing, wonder how long until it ends up as an episode of csi?

That's all anyone around here was talking about yesterday. Psycho-killer-guy got on the bus at the local station, and the bus is currently parked about an hour away from here (it's a crime scene... they can't move it).
I've heard so many different versions of what happened already  But honestly, I just feel so bad for the other people on the bus. Can you imagine having to see that?

And of course, that just happens to be a bus route that I take all the time when visiting friends. Next time, they get to come see me.

^^Even I heard it and I live in Spain. How awful and disturbing. :(

i have been following it closely. I think it will pop up on Law and Order before CSI...since they do current events more often. It is pretty crazy, especially since he sawed off the head and carried it around! Yikes...

^^ Yesss I heard about it. It was in the newspaper here and I read it this morning. I was just saying that should be appearing on CSI soon. I told my friend Nikki who lives in Holland and even she heard about it.

I find it especially disturbing the way the witnesses described the killer. They said he was like a "robot" while stabbing the guy. :/

^^I think this type of story will be heard all over. It's unfortunate for everyone involved :( It may be some time before a reason to this bizarre and sad story is told. In this day and age it is truly a weird story.
