Stetler#1: he needs his own life!!!

Stetler does add some more drama to the show and drama is always good cause it makes even a weak epy a bit more watchable. When he is around sparks are always sure to fly. Im in a love/hate relationship though.

 I hate him cause....
He keeps blaming Speed's death for so many things.
He's had Eric arrested (Ok I understand why I mean what were they supposed to do let a potential drug addict work for the Police, but I like Eric he's cute)
He hit Yelina (no man should ever hit a woman!!)

 In-between....
He got Ryan fired (I'm not a huge Ryan fan sorry)
He is just doing his job, but he does have to be such a jerk all the time though; but he may just like the team and wants to keep them in line and stop them from screwing up. Cause lets face it if he had made Lt. they would have been his team.

:D I like him 'cause.......
With him around sparks always fly.
He brings out a different side to H.
His smugness and H's arrogance work well together; and makes it worth watching even when the episode is weak.

he's not a drug addict!!! his sister Marisol had cancer (while she was alive) and she smoked marijuana to relieve her pain and nausea and Eric was just there while she smoked it. his exposure was passive not active....so no he's not a drug addict :D or a potential drug addict.

^ In the eyes of the authorities, they would have viewed Eric as a 'potential' drug user based on what they knew initially, pending further investigation. So, Stetler had no choice but to investigate Eric in the circumstances.

Thats what I mean Lucy he had no choice but to investigate Eric in the circumstances.
I wasnt happy about it, not one little bit cause I'm a E/C shipper, and I think eric is cute. But thats Ricks job even if hes a a&& h0!e  about it.
It was funny at the end of the epy when the district eterny (I think she was the district eterny. the one that was with Peter) took H's side

Stetler is a sometimes hilarious, sometimes harsh character who should get more face time. I love him though :)

Wow, this is an old thread!

Stetler is "the bad guy" a lot of the time, but hey, I giggle whenever he comes on screen bc he always has something ridiculous to say! And H shoots him down in the end anyway!

I love that Rick brings out some school-boy tough act with Horatio and all the team bands together to rag on Rick. Rick must be doing his job ok if he's still there as long as everybody else-but always loved that scene in crime wave when H says Rick babysit the body-like H has real police work to actually being doing instead of going rounds with Rick. Wonder if Rick really has any true friends from when he did regular police work-like was he detective and what crimes did he solve anyway? some backstory on him would be interesting...

^^ I watched Crime Wave last night! :) It would be nice to have a back story on him as well. He should have a reason to be such a jerk!

And woman abuser at that!!!!!!!!!!

But hey, he's lovable. David Lee Smith does a fantastic job playing him!

I do like Stetler. i dont think he is all that bad. I was watching Cyber-lebrity the other night, and he seemed properly worried for H. No matter what he does they still have it in for him, and he is only doing his job. ...shame about the Yelina thing though!

I still think if they didn't actually show him smacking Yelina then there is no proof-it's not like Yelina acted afraid of him afterward-she's a tough chick she would have kicked him out if he'd really hit her I think. But a back story or even showing him one day out with a nice lady friend and the team making a comment about it would be nice. Make everyone wonder about Rick-is he nice or not.

There was an episode where Yelina kicked him out...Ray Jr. called H and told him about it, so naturally H is there before you can blink. But yeah, if I remember correctly Stetler was getting out of the house and Yelina stood at the doorway frowning at him.

So yeah it happened.

I love Stetler...I love his character too much no matter how bad he can be.

I'm not able to hate him, despite what he did to Yelina. BTW yeah he smacked her...but in my opinion that's what they want us to believe in. I mean if I hadn't known what happened with Yelina for all these year, I wouldn't have been able to imagine Stetler like this. He can be a very bad person, but, in all honesty I can't imagine him smacking a woman.

As for being a bad person, I think that he's just doing his job and everyone treats him in the worst way possible:lol:.
One episode I didn't like was "Stand Your Ground". He was just doing his job and let's say he was also right about everything and his ass was kicked off by everybody:lol:. Poor Stetler:lol:

I think David Lee Smith is such a great actor to be able to play such a controversial role like Rick Stetler;)

At first I thought he did hit her, but after seeing the ep again, I don't think it went down like that. I think its more than likely that whatever happened was an accident. I don't think he purposely hit her. I think maybe they had an argument, he started to walk off, maybe she grabbed his arm and when he went to jerk it away, he accidently hit her in the eye. I really don't think Yelina's the type who would stay with a man after he purposely hit her... so that's another thing that makes me believe it might have been an accident. And no, I don't mean one of those "omg, I lost my temper, didn't meant to hit you" kind of things. I mean a geniuine accident.

I like Stetler - I think he's a great character, both as a foil for the team and H, and in his own right. It's nice to have someone who's a bit ambiguous, although at the end of the day on the same side as the rest of the team (ie against the bad guys). As has already been said, he is doing his job, and someone has to do it. And David Lee Smith is a fantastic actor!

I don't think that he actually hit Yelina intentionally, though. It just seems too out of character for him. It actually annoys me a bit, as it seems to have been thrown in there as a one-time plot device, rather than anything that would later be explained or followed up on...

That's why it annoyed me, they never explained what really happened.
They just left us with Yelina and her black eye frowning when she saw Rick.
As you said it's completely out of his character. He's a serious person who helps the team when it's in his powers and always tries to do the right thing in order to protect the city of Miami, legally;).

He's such a controversial character that I love him. I think it's pretty difficult for a person like Stetler to survive doing his job, I mean everybody is agaisnt you: bad people 'cause you're good and the good people 'cause you're from IAB.
Sometimes I get pissed off ,but I understand he's just doing his job. For example "Stand Your Ground" when I heard that he was investigating on Calleigh I was mad, but, honestly, he just did his job and he was right about the whole situation. I felt so sad for him.
Some times I feel bad even for David Lee Smith who has to play Rick, but I have to say that, probably, he's the best actor to play Stetler:thumbsup:
